  1. QUOTE(forrestg @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) This is not an example of a left handed reliever for an outfielder but rather a competition of team psychologists. except Marte has a lot less problems then Bradley does.
  2. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Wow, I'd trade Marte for Milton in a heartbeat. if Milton didn't have his problems than yes however I would be very hesitant to trade for Bradley.
  3. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) From the LA Times: The Pirates have increased their efforts to trade for outfielder Milton Bradley, a source said. The Dodgers could get a left-handed reliever in return because the Pirates are overstocked after acquiring Damaso Marte from the Chicago White Sox. Left-hander Mike Gonzalez is expected to compete for the Pirate closer role and John Grabow is a top setup reliever Screw that they should just let Marte be the closer.
  4. 20-17 Bears. Kyle Orton goes 16-25 for 188 yards and 2 Touchdown passes. The defense has some trouble in the beginning of the game as the Steelers decide to attack the Bears with the passing game however the Bears defense adjusts and is able to be a bend but don't break defense this week. The Steelers Passing defense is pretty weak and Ron Turner opens up the playbook for Orton and allows him to be more aggressive.
  5. I saw one of the Worst movies I have seen in a long time tonight. Hannibal is an awful movie. It is not scary at all unlike Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon. Just because there is a lot of blood doesn't mean it is going to scare you. The thing that Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon did so well was that they were Psychological Thrillers. They weren't very violent however they left the violence up to your imagination. One of the things they screwed up on in Hannibal was the fact that Lector is a very charming and smart guy. He has a wit to him that almost makes him likable. In Hannibal IMHO he is just made out to be a ruthless sadistic killer.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Yeah, in the Trade Winds thread I posted that I think they're going to patch this up, at least until the trade deadline... imagine what he might be worth then i think you are right. Probably a ton. If they could get a couple of very good starting pitchers for him I would say do it.
  7. If i get an award it will be for most hated poster.
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) whether he wanted to be there or not, he signed with the orioles who had the best offer on the table. it's funny that tejada is viewed at as a leader. i can't even imagine if he isn't traded, leading that young orioles roster, who he basically threw under a bus today. how much do you want to bet that he comes out and says he was misquoted.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Does Tejada have a no trade clause? Because he can really be a pain in the ass if he wants to stay on the east coast and void anything else no it doesn't.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Congratulation, you have memory! You won! You won the prize! :finger :finger
  11. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Is he allowed to work with Social Security checks coming in? dunno but a clause in his contract will state that the club provide him with copies of AARP in the clubhouse.
  12. f*** it. I got a better idea. John Rocker is available.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Except he's a righty. didn't he get ejected for flicking the Umpire off or something like that. He was released the next day.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) Well he's on the 40, so he'll be there. He started most of last year, but any chance he'd have in Chicago, would be, as you said, as a reliever. They've been jerking him around in Charlotte. He was one of Charlotte's better pitchers, but that was pretty much a tallest midget contetst down there. I'm not saying he doesn't have a shot, I'm just saying that he doesn't really have a shot. I will agree that after the Montreal debacle, he performed better out of the pen. that sounds like something out of Dodgeball. I felt really bad for him in that Montreal game. He said that after the 2nd inning he was lobing pitches just to see if they wouldn't hit them. He was put in an awful position.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) oh, really fool? yeah really moron. Another team had a higher offer. He liked the Orioles history or something like that.
  16. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) well it was the biggest trade of the day, but of course the great aboz needs to be the hard ass he is. you will like Marte. He is a hell of hitter and he can probably hit 30 HR at Fenway in the future. Does go into some long funks however the raw talent alone is worth this trade.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) you sign with the highest bidder and then demand a trade two years later? tough luck, tejada. what are you going to do if the red sox youth movement doesn't go as planned? are you going to want out of boston too? i've never liked tejada as a person dating back to the derek lowe "crotch chop" incident, but he's a hell of a ballplayer. i just don't know if i want the red sox strengthening a pitching staff within the division to acquire him. um he took less money to go to the Orioles. He never signed with the highest bidder.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) As opposed to Orton who has a chance to break the elusive 2,000 yard mark this year at his pace. be more than Grossman in his entire career.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) They'll give lots of guys shots at making the team. Doesn't mean they have much of a chance. well there was only one position battle last year. I just hope they give Munoz a real shot at making the team.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Yes, orton is good too. i forgot the season that Grossman had 3,000 passing yards in.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Yes, he sucked... you come up with some crazy ideas/conclusions/everything. no he didn't. In fact the play he got hurt on was a play that he made a great leaping play on a Pierre chopper. He was also pretty good at digging balls out of the dirt.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Never that bad of a first baseman? You sound like an uneducated cubs fan...cheesus lice. Did you ever see him play 1B. All he couldn't do was throw. He had decent range and he had a good glove. Was he a great fielder? No, but he wasn't that bad either.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) There isn't a team out there dumb enough to let Frank be a fulltime 1b again. i don't buy it for a second that he can be a fulltime 1B. His days at 1B are done. (never that bad of a 1B)
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) Did you see the end of the article? Big Frank the Brave? When did the NL start using the DH? Buehrle said in an interview that Frank told him he could be a fulltime 1B again. He said it on the Dan Patrick Show.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Holy s***, his faith in Damaso was gone way before then. If his faith in Marte was gone before then he wouldn't of made the playoff rosters. I am not sure it was faith as much as he just always played it by the book (lefty against lefty, righty against righty). You guys might be right about him losing his faith in Marte before that but the thing that bothered me was that he kept using him even though it was obvious that he sucked.
