  1. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5173568 Wow, Arizona's expectations sure went down quickly. Javier Vazquez & Jose Valverde for Brad Lidge & Chris Burke to Javier Vazquez for El Duque, Luis Vizcaino, and Chris Young The only way that the Astros would've done that is if the Diamondbacks GM would've sneaked in to the Purpura's room and put some LSD in his morning Coffee.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) I don't. And I also don't whine like a little baby at things I find disgusting. The thread title was clear so quit your b****ing. Whine like a baby. Shut the f*** up. I have seen this s*** happen. It happened to my cousin except he wasn't a gang banger and it was an "accident". I was in person to see my cousin killed because of that s***. It was a f***ing drunk driver.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Shut up. Please. If you get satisfaction by looking at this s***. Go ahead.
  4. Anybody who likes looking at these photos are sick. Please close this thread. That's a f***ing Human there. This s*** ain't funny.
  5. Is this trade gonna become official today?
  6. QUOTE(valponick @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Why does everyone on this board drool at the idea of Miguel Tejada?? For what we would have to give up, we would be the ones getting fleeced. Sure he is a "big name" but the way people on this board think he is one of the best players in the league makes me sick. He is not only a downgrade defensively but he is nowhere near the same level as the top tier hitters in the game the way people on here think he is. If you think I'm crazy, think about this.... We are talking about a guy who has NEVER had an OPS of over .900, and only once has he had one over .865. This same guy has only posted an OBP of over .350 TWO TIMES in his career (of which he is supposedly in his prime). Has never posted a fielding percentage above .975 and his range factor makes that a generous .975. Compare this with some of the top tier players in the game today...ARod, Guerrero, Ramirez, Ortiz just to name a few. If you were to try to argue with me that Tejada is one of the best Fantasy baseball players in the league I would agree, but this isn't Fantasy baseball. Not that this is ever going to happen, but I don't know why everyone was so excited about it in the first place. yeah he is only the best shortstop in the game. You can't be serious can you?
  7. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) This question was asked to Steve Stone today on Murph, and he said a 6 man rotation is a really bad idea because it will only make it harder on control pitchers like Buehrle to maintain command. Therefore, either BMac is in the bullpen or Garland is traded. he said that he thinks we should go back to a 4-man rotation and after thinking about what he said about it I agree with him.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) I liked crash. But whenever i think of you i think of you liking s***ty movies and saying they are ''smart''. it was smart at what it wanted to do.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Anaconda = ''smart thriller''. you probably never even saw Crash. Don't review something you haven't watched. Most people agree with me on Crash. Give it a f***ing spin.
  10. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) This was sent by a Police Officer in Southern California! And, it ought to make your day!! This fine upstanding member, of the infamous 18th street LA gang, decided one day that he would try to car-jack a semi truck at gun point. The gangster jumped up on the driver side, while the truck was in motion, and stuck a gun in the driver's face. The only problem was that the truck driver opened up the door and knocked the attempted thief off. He lost his balance and fell under the wheels of the truck. At which time the driver slammed on his brakes, resting on top of him. NOT SAFE FOR WORK. NOT SAFE FOR WORK. NOT SAFE FOR WORK. Now I got this as an email....so I thought I'd share. Judging from the tats, I'm quite sure this dude got what he deserved, but one thing doesn't make sense to me. I think the pics show the dude under the right tires not the drivers side. So maybe this didn't go down as written, but either way the result suits me just fine. This post has been edited by the Soxtalk staff to remove objectionable material. 11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) In the end all that matters is the W/L. Kenny's deals really paid off and he's a fair trader. Two years ago everyone was saying we gave up too much for Freddy, they aren't seeing that now. We absolutely reamed the Yanks when we got Contreras. Kenny makes deals and everytime they make sense. The Vazquez deal was odd, but it makes sense from the financial standpoint and for the reasons that it will take less pressure off the Sox and put more on guys like Contreras and Garland. That is one of the most important things. He doesn't try to rob other GMs and he does try to make fair trades for both teams. It seems to me that most times he looks to make the trade good for both sides. That will have the GMs he has traded with wanting to trade with him again.
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) I actually think that changing the 5 man rotation in baseball is a good idea, but I think the wrong way. You'd have to carry 12-13 pitchers to have 6 starters yeah i think they should go back to a 4-man rotation. If a pitcher is gonna throw 5 1/3 innings he can do it just as easily in a 4-man rotation. Plus you get one extra pitcher who won't be making $6 Million a year. A lot of pitchers pitch better when they are tired (sinkerballers like Jon Garland and Buehrle pitches better on short rest.)
  13. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Is the trade official yet? it will be on Friday if they pass physicals.
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) Jarhead was a C+ film, that's why many people didn't like it, and Crash was it's slightly more credible older brother. The whole genre of Magnolia immitators is getting old. I get it that these events really do happen. I don't buy it for a second that it manages to happen to 8 people who are all connected so closely. i thought those 2 were the best films of the year.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) i'm still not sure about this trade, i only say that because our bullpen seems so thin at this point what did Vizcaino do to our bullpen that made it so good. And getting rid of Marte is addition by subtraction.
  16. Jimmy Greenfield keeps churning out outstanding work. Great guy. Have had him on our radio show 3 or 4 times now.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) No thanks, I prefer not to have chairs thrown at me while I'm watching a game. yeah same here. His arm problems are also scary.
  18. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) OO Hell its here comes Chaveztalk.com again.. great!

  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Ah well. He's a good kid Steff, but he is a typical young fan ... gets attached to certain players, posts and then flip flops two weeks later etc. No biggie. I actually hated Garland a couple years ago for the same reason a lot of people would but this pitching staff. Man I don't know. Hopefully they can works something out for Garland. Now if it was for Tejada that would be a pretty good trade.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) I know nothing. I was laughing at the thought of all the WS rings the Braves pitching staff has. so they were still in the mix every single year. In fact if they were healthy in 99 they would've won the World Series. Pitching wins. And if the Sox keep Garland they would have a dominant staff that would give you chance to win every day.
  22. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Why so we get nothing for him? Vazquez at 4 and BMac at 5 I take that anyday of the week. Trade him to the Dodgers For Edwin Jackson and Delwyn Young. i dunno. What did they offer him anyways?
  23. I hope they don't trade Garland. This is the best Starting Rotation I have seen since the Braves days. Let's win another World Series and worry about Garland after 2006.
  24. When will the comish put his stamp of approval on this deal.
