  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) No. Coming to his senses wouldn't be signing a deal right now. No agent in his right mind would allow that. Given the current market, Garland could be due 6yrs/$70 at free agency next year. He's going to make about $7M this year no matter what. So he can either go to arbitration, then free agency, and make about $77M over 7 years; or he can sign a 3yr/30M deal with the Sox, delaying his free agency by two years in the process. Now which would you do? I would do the 3yr/$30M deal. What the hell is the difference? Oh would he not be able to feed his family. If i were him I would want to be in a place where I have a real chance to win a Championship.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) There's a way around the system. The Yankees did it with Matsui. If he wasn't signed by a certain date, they would have to waive him. Maybe something like that is going on with Contreras because everything I read says he will be a free agent, but he's certainly short in the service department. that's it i think. El Duque didn't become a Free Agent until he played 6 years. How about just playing it out with Garland and maybe he will come to his senses and accept the deal that the Sox have on the table.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) i wonder if he is still going to make his appearance with Moose at the Sprint store down the street from me. yeah he will be looking to work at the Sprint Store.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) He's 5'2" and has pathetic hands. He's a s*** PR and an even s***tier WR. He isn't 5'2". I am not saying he is a great WR however they don't have the depth at Wide Receiver to do this. Let's say that Moose gets hurt. who you gonna go out and get again? Bobby Wade.

  6. I dunno. I agree about Wade. He should never return a punt again. However they are so thin at the Wide Receiver position.
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Memento = too confusing of a movie to watch at 2 AM One of my favorite movies. Give it another spin when you are awake.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Let the toughness be your motivation to A get smarter (if you are wrong) or B prove people that you are right (maybe what you say is right and over the long haul you end up being right more often than you are wrong). One or the other can and should happen. I think you'll learn a lot and the key is to listen to what others say in a debate. Hell, I am closed minded but absolutely love debate and there are some people on this site that you end up learning a whole lot from when you shoot back different ideas. A lot of the times it results in you and the person directly involved in the debate learning something, but it can often result in others that are reading to learn stuff to. So make sure you read and try to see where other people are coming from. Keep learning and eventually you may earn some respect. Hell, I was the buffoon that said UCLA would give the Trojans a run for there money. Luckily I got SNB to make even worse predictions than me, lol. i said that to. I thought that UCLA would beat USC. Thanks for the help.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) I'll give u the opportunity right now to drop the personal attack. Simply say thats not the proper quote. No need to call him a moron. We've had some good debate and thoughts in this thread as of late. i just did. I would like to not be personally attacked everytime i have a thought. Look about the Grossman thing If i thought that he was actually so much better than Orton than i would agree with all the Grossman fans however he isn't. Neither is a great QB but Grossman isn't a real uprgrade over Orton.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 05:14 PM)if you are gonna quote me at least quote me right dude.
  11. If Grossman started this game we still wouldn't of won. I love the Grossman lovers: Grossman fan: Orton only threw for 68 yards against Green Bay we need more yards. Orton Fan: Well he throws for 207 yards against a top ten defense Grossman fan: Well I just feel rex would give us a better shot. NO REX WOULDN'T. Orton did a good job today and he did the best he could while playing with a BAD DEFENSE! What you want Orton to play defense. Was it Orton's fault that the Bears couldn't stop a simple screen play? No. I am sorry but this one goes on the defense. PERIOD!
  12. Orton had a good game. The Offensive line was awful and the Receivers didn't help either. He went out and threw for 207 yards and no interceptions. Was he perfect? No, but this should've been good enough to win. The Defense crapped their pants today.
  13. Only Real World I ever watched was the one in New Orleans. I watched it because I knew one of the guys in it Jamie who was from Wilmette.

  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Bradley came up with the Expos. KW really wanted him when Cleveland acquired him. He seems to be a bad guy, but that's exactly what Everett appeared to be, and this guy has a ton more talent than Everett. It remains to be seen whether or not he can get his act together. If he can he can be a star. If he can't, he's going to cost managers and GMs their jobs. yes but Everett didn't have the kind of trouble with the law that Bradley has. Plus he had matured when he was with Texas.
  17. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Roy Oswalt has been the Opening Day starter in Houston even when Pettitte and Oswalt have been there. Mark should remain ours even if Jose went on to win 20 games. Loaiza took a back seat after 21 wins so I see no need to change. He is the face of the franchise (as far as players go) so he should remain the Opening Day starter Loaiza gave up his opening day start because Buehrle let him pitch the last game of the season even though it was his turn to pitch. If Buehrle had pitched and won that day he would've gone 15-14 and would have won 15 or more games in every season he has been a Starting Pitcher full time.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Marte had a good June of 2004. Marte had a Bad 2004 compared to his 2003 season and a horid 2005. Also it is sort of what you expect. I expected a much better season from Marte in 2004 and he was mediocre. Still pretty good compared to the rest of baseball but I was losing faith in him by August of 2004.
  19. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I think Kent is kind of a douche bag, but I doubt he was the reason Bradley was such a headcase with the Dodgers. Remember, the Indians couldn't get rid of him soon enough. Bradley's a talented player who can put up some good numbers. But the only reason it would only take Marte to get him is the baggage that comes with him. And from all the stuff I've read on him, he ain't worth it. I was actually kind of hoping the Cubs were gonna be dumb enough to take him on. yeah these aren't clubhouse problems.
  20. Mark Buehrle. I don't even think this is a debate. Mark Buehrle Jose Contreras Jon Garland Freddy Garcia Brandon McCarthy
  21. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Didn't we learn that Munoz is not a major league pitcher? no but he had a very good september in 2004 when he got the call up and pitched out the bullpen. You can't judge a guy off of one start. He was put in an awful position.
  22. Um he never actually head-butted that Umpire. I think he has probably grown up and I doubt he would do that kind of thing now. He was probably the leader in the clubhouse this year.
  23. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) From that snippet, it sounds like a Bradley for Marte deal is pure conjecture. Thinking about the line Bradley would put up at U.S. Cellular makes me giddy, but he is such a headcase that pulling the trigger on a deal like that is risky. You don't really need to make a move like that with a team that just won the World Series, and is mainly intact. yeah this isn't like A.J. Pierzynski who was deemed a "Clubhouse Cancer" in San Francisco. Milton Bradley has had troubles with the law before and was pretty much kicked off the Indians. Pierzynski never had those problems.
  24. Kreutz doesn't know what he was finned for. Wow. This guy has problems. Both of these guys should just pay their fines and get over it. Wow $50,000. That is like a $1 to them. They will have a tough time feeding their families if the pay this fine.
