QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) "Crash" was an awesome flick. agreed. Ludacris was great. I also think that this might of been Bullock's best movie.

Official College Football Thread
White Sox Josh replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Sorry but the Big 12 Championship is going off on my TV and I am watching the Tulsa-UCF game. Yikes. You have 2 pretty good games IMHO in Florida State and Va Tech. The best game is Georgia vs. LSU. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) I really shouldn't have said anything... josh just angers me if you know what i am talking about. sorry but I am not sure what I have done wrong here. It pissed me off and I shared my point of view. If you don't agree with me fine. Good for you. But post your thoughts on the article. I am not sure why I keep on getting attacked for everything I do. But whatever.

I liked the remake of Rollerball.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Josh, do you honestly think the media is going to give Frank Thomas a standing ovation after what's happened throughout his career? they should. A lot of people have done a ton worse. Considering what he has done in his career yes he does deserve the respect. Greg Couch makes that point in his column today.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Yeah, I was kidding. :rolly Will you stop spamming these f***ing threads, please? El Duque is 40 years old though. Read it in his biography.

Ozzie guarantees we will have new #2 hitter.
White Sox Josh replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Yea, it seems to me that Ozzie was giving his typical "off the wall, look I'm ozzie guillen the media loves me I'm getting a haircut this is news" interview, and in reailty, nothing he said will having much bearing on next year. Ozzie may like Owens and his winter league play now, but get him in spring training when Owens just misplayed a gapper and cost the team a run and you'll get the exact 180 degree spin. Ozzie's mouth is unreliable. Who knows what goes on in that head. He's a great manager though, if inprecise mouth. didn't he say that Michael Jackson would be able to play catcher or something during the playoffs? I think it was something about what Michael Jackson's best position on a baseball diamond was. he said catcher or first base. I don't think i am imagining it either. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) He wants to stay in the NL, so I think a team like the Giants possibly could make some sense. he has been rumored to go to Philly. Don't know about you but I don't think that is the best choice for him with the new ballpark in philly.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) I can never tell with you. I don't think anyone can. The story about Blake is true. He was buying a CD player and some other gifts (probably for friends and family). Umm ok. What you said about me is not true. And i have this to say to you about Orton (who you think should be replaced once Grossman is healthy)You will be wrong about Orton. Grossman is just as unproven. Anybody who thinks that Grossman would make a huge difference to the Bears offense is on the bong.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) That remark about Uribe was implying that Thomas is NOT getting enough respect on his way out. A big part of reading is comprehension. i understand that and that point is designed to trash Frank. The columnist is say he is happy Frank is gone.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) Uh huh, and when was it implied that Juan Uribe commands more respect than Frank? Morrisey just threw that name out there. I'm probably just wasting my time anyway. no he didn't. I read this article now 3 times. Juan Uribe does not command more respect than Frank. Do you get what the article is about? It is about how glade he is for Frank to be gone. He implied it that way at least IMHO.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) From the article: Now, as you asked hammerhead, Did you even read the article? yes but this article is made to trash Frank.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Heads should you take the ball and run with this or me? i hope you know I am not serious right? I do think the Bears will win by double digits. 35-10.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Jose Contreras is an ace in the making? Ain't he like 45 years old? wasn't he the best pitcher in baseball in the 2nd half? Also he is more like 37 or 38. That is a myth. If he was 45 he would be in Miami at his home. Not throwing a 96 MPH fastball.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) That was never implied. Once again, you're WAY the f*** out there on Pluto. read the f***ing column. Oh wait you didn't.

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) I agree this jackass is full of s***. No player on the Sox roster has ever gotten a standing ovation like Frank Thomas. He is one of the greatest hitters in our franchises history. For this asshole to say that we got rid of him like a broken down building to make way fir new condos is not just disrespectful to the Big Hurt, but the entire White Sox Organization and the Die Hard fans. I hold Frank Thomas with the most outmost respect. I respect him for staying with the White Sox organization his whole entire career when he could have left for more money. I pride in the fact that he hasn't taken steroids and remains one of the top hitters in the game today. Frank is a people person and when I met him during spring training at Electric Park, he was very open and willing to take time to talk to the fans. If its anyone who doesn't show respect to Frank Thomas its the media. your damn right about him being a people person. When he was going through the divorce in 98 I met him a couple of times. Once was outside the stadium after the game and second was at a kids day. He couldn't of been nicer. He made sure he signed for all the kids including kids on Kids Day who got cut out of the line.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Jim Hendry, the ball's in your court; maybe it's just me but i say he goes back to the Braves and shows loyalty to the Braves.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) I know Prior would also likely compete for the NL crown, but ugh, there have to be more pitchers who would compete for the AL Crown than that. The numbers just say there have to be. Pavano, Mussina, and Wright with the Yankees? Do the Yankees even pitch simulated games? I haven't a clue, the first time I ever heard the term "Simulated game" was with the 98-season-ers. what about simulated wins. I know Politte was making a run of that in the playoffs with him getting no work in the first 2 rounds.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Tommy John award for simulated game pitchers. I like it. Beckett will win it in the AL and Burnett and Wood would battle it out for the NL crown. Beckett is the best pitcher of those three. He has won his 15 games and if he can stay healthy will be very good for the Red Sawx. I wouldn't put Beckett with those 2 right now.

You forgot to put 15 down my friend. I went with 10 because that was the highest. BEEAAAARRRRS BY A 15 TOUCHDOWNS MY FRIEND! After Kyle Orton leads Da Bears to 35 points in the first half with 5 touchdown passes and the defense adds 2 more my friend with a fumble and touchdown off one of Favre 5 interceptions in the first half. Thomas Jones rushes for one with 132 yards rushing my friend. 56 PointsBEARS! Jeff Blake takes over for him and throws throws 5 touchdown passes Justin Gage. After that the defense takes care of the rest! 105 to nothing for BEEAARRS! PS: BTW I did see Jeff Blake at my local Best Buy yesterday. Great guy. I pointed at my bears hat and gave me the thumbs up. I told him to make sure he was healthy because he would take over for Kyle Orton in the 2nd Quarter after the Bears were up 56-0.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Dude, that movie was f***ing badass. Why is it the funniest movie ever? that is why i think he is saying it was funny. Sort of like what I was talking about with 2 Fast 2 Furious.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) thanks to the greatest player to don a sox jersey. hope you're back with us next season... i couldn't of said it better myself. BTW is that the lead singer from Evanescence in you avatar?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Did you watch the Sox at all this year? It doesn't matter what you say he "should do" it's all about what he "will do" and what he does is play Left-left/righty-righty matchups. yes but I am saying it is not right. The Angels don't have that yet they have the best Bullpen in the AL.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) You have to stop looking at this from a pure baseball perspective and instead look at it through Ozzie's eyes. It doesn't really matter if a RHP is better against lefties when it comes to Ozzie, he'll play the matchups and throw a LHP out there. Meaning if it's late in the game, a lefty is comming up and Cotts has already been used Ozzie will be bringing in his 2nd LHP and I'd much rather have that be Marte as opposed to Munoz. No he should be bringing in Politte, Hermanson, or Jenks. That logic is so stupid. Look you can do this matchup stuff if you have the right players. Tony LaRussa has the pitchers in the bullpen to do that: Ray King- Best Lefty Set Up Man in the NL right now. Randy Flores- Another very good lefty. Not as good as King but still damn good. Lefties hit .173 against him. Al Reyes: His numbers are SICK! Tavarez- Solid in the bullpen. Cal Eldred- He had a very good year. Brad Thompson- Another great pitcher. See Tony LaRussa has another lefty who can get lefties out. He has the righties who can get righties out. His Bullpen is built to matchup like that. The Sox don't have that yet.
