  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Bubble Boy Pootie Tang (Sepa Tai! Im gonna sign your piddy on the runny kine...) Run Ronnie Run (the scene when the cops come into a house that Ronnie ran into to get away was priceless. "Sir, why are you hiding in these people's closet" "Hiding? I was sleeping here and they just built the house around me!) Saving Silverman Happy, Texas? Safe Men Blowin Smoke (AKA the Steve Zahn essentials) Joy Ride was Steve Zahn's best work IMHO. And that is not a bad movie! I thought Happy Texas was pretty smart but that is just me. I agree with you on Saving Silverman and Pootie Tang.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) If they can they should sign Lofton and Furcal.... than if that trade is actually available to the Rangers do it. Id include Angel Guzman in it if it was neccesary..... Lofton Furcal Dlee Ramirez Soriano Mench Barrett Murton SP thats a great lineup... they could also trade for Pierre too but both work really. And while Im not a big fan of Eyre I think Howry is a great RP so they have a nice 8th/9th inning combo with Dempster. And while Wood is crap Prior/Zambrano are both legit aces and Maddux still pretty decent. Neither are are aces. Right now Maddux is their best pitcher on that staff.
  3. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) positively. agreed. I like Farnsworth's stuff but Flash has the mentality to close in a big pressure city like philly. He showed it in Chicago and Boston.
  4. I think the Dan Patrick show has been a lot better since they put Keith Olbermann on the air with him 5 times a week. He sounds less and less like Jim Rome and more like that show used to be like.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I love asking Cubs fans what cost them a World Series appearance in 2003. The compulsive "f***ing Steve Bartman!" answer is always worth a chuckle. Then when you say "No, it was Alex Gonzalez, Dusty Baker, and Mark Priors fault" they get all defensive. I love it. no it was just that the Marlins were a better team than the Cubs. They were the best team in baseball that season. BTW this is exactly why i say you sign Burnitz. Won't cost much and will put up nice power numbers. Plus from everything i have heard he is a nice guy who is good in the clubhouse. What that lets you do is focus more on the holes you need to fill. For example: You sign Burnitz right away and than it will let you focus on trading for a guy like Juan Pierre or signing a guy like Lofton who has showed that he can still play 140 games a year. Or try to sign Furcal for less before the price gets up there. This is not about how good Burnitz is but about how they have many more serious holes.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 05:05 AM) So you think a .757 OPS for a corner OF in a hitters park making $4,500,000 is decent? you could do a lot worse. The Cubs have a ton of problems right now and that is not a major problem.
  7. QUOTE(kdhargo @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:49 AM) Wilkerson posted .248/.351/.405 across the board in '05, along w/ 11 HRs; however, the previous year he posted a .255/.374/.498 campaign with 32 HRs. Classic buy low, sell high KW acquisition. one reason the power numbers went down is because he played in a god awful hitters park. That park is not the place to go if you are a hitter.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) What did Garland say to you when you told him to keep up whatever he was doing? he gives off that perception really well that he doesn't care. And him not showing up for that autograph session in 2004 after he got rocked by the Tigers sends the wrong signal.
  9. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) You forgot Skip Bayless, Mike Patrick, and Paul Maguire. All deserve death strikes as well. Theisman is pretty good though. But the rest of those guys suck.
  10. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) The dollars per year aren't awful given that he will close. BUT-3 years for Flash Gordon? Ishii he will be an old dude before that contract is done. But for short term it is good.
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) I dont see why we cant bring back most, if not all, of these guys with another sucessful season and the increased ticket sales its going to produce. i have a feeling that Garland will be signed to a 3 year contract before the season starts. Remember KW saying not to bet on Iguchi signing with the Sox. What about that Pierzynski was not gonna playing with the sox because he did a background check and didn't like what he saw. KW is playing everybody. Konerko even said there was no offer on the table. This was the only one. It's almost a con game.
  12. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Yeah I remember it came out a while ago. Basically just new rosters with the same old annoying gameplay. so the same game time bug?
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) What makes you think the Yankees can just get any player they want? it's not like they have any money? do they have money? I thought they were the team that was looking for bargain bin free agents.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Also the Angels havent had a good lefty in their bullpen and they have always been good.... the last lefty of importance was Schoenweis and he isnt even that good. but he was against the lefties. Plus isn't Neal Cotts still in this bullpen? He was the best lefty set-up man in the AL last year. I have said it before and i will say it again: The most overrated thing in sports is the lefty-lefty or righty-righty matchups. Who cares as long as you get guys out.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Last year Marte was horrible vs lefties hell Cotts is worse vs lefties than he is vs righties..... If it wasnt for the other guys in our bullpen Marte's era would of been in the 5's.... if he gets everything together is awesome but chances are he wont and if thats the case is he really all that better than Munoz? he put up a 1.80 ERA in september and they hit .176 against him. You are right about Marte's ERA. It should've been a lot worse. Just look at the ALDS game 3.
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) The acquisitons of one Sean Burroughs and one Mike Myers are far from huge moves. Barring any complete clubhouse reconciliation, Damaso Marte is as good as gone. Ozzie doesn't have time for this kid's table bulls***. Rest assured, Josh, neither Burroughs nor Myers are going to be a part of this roster. That's just what I'd like to see take place. Alright, my armchair GM time is now over. no i like Burroughs but San Diego might just hold on to him as a backup IF. His average isn't that bad and he might be best in that role. Myers I like even though he is getting up there in age. He was great last year. If the Red Sox don't have him they might not make the playoffs. Myers might be but i don't think Burroughs is going anywhere and if he is i think the Sox will have already signed Mueller by than.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Interesting turn of events. ESPN decides to punish later rather than sooner..... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2243998 don't mean anything to me. That is pretty normal. ESPN should do this no matter who did it who is employed for them.
  18. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) I think you are accurate in the extreme. I'm anticipating our opening-day roster to look an awfully lot like this unless there are some unforseen injuries during spring training. Now, if I were the one wearing the GM hat, I'd send Marte to San Diego for a package surrounding Sean Burroughs, sign Mike Myers to a 2Y/3M deal, and pack it in. Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm not the general manager. good thing nobody here is a GM. I have a hard time just debating who I should draft for fantasy football. I also don't think Kenny will try to change the team anymore with a huge move. He isn't done but they will be much smaller moves. You can't risk messing with the chemistry of this team.
  19. QUOTE(AirScott @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) besides in college? no. he had a decent 2004 season.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) 11.1 IP 9BB/10SO GMAFB he was a f***ing rookie. Look at stats Neal Cotts put up in 2004. They were brutal. You have to give Munoz a chance IMHO.
  21. He had a 3.97 ERA (he had one bad game at KC that made his ERA go up) and they hit .238 against him.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Marte >>>>> Munoz. There's just about no case to be made against this logic. look at the stats Munoz put up in the bullpen. They were pretty good. You are saying all this on his start at Montreal. That start should've never happened.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Absolutely wrong and never going to happen. 1.) IMO, Frank will not be back. 2.) Arnie Munoz? I would take Marte over him any day honestly. 3.) You cant just up and trade Vizcaino, Marte, and Harris. I think Hernandez is actually better used in the Bullpen. He would be pretty much taking Vizcaino's spot as a long guy out of the pen.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) ^^^ NO to just about all of it. You mean you would rather have Marte? He f***ing sucks. Please don't judge Munoz on that game in Montreal. He was put in an awful situation. He did well out of the bullpen in September and his Curveball is great when it is on.
