  1. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) OSU is a much better team. All this talk about how ND only has two losses, what about Ohio State? They lost by 4 to Texas and played like s*** against PSU in Happy Valley, and PSU still squeaked bye. I think that UT is a BETTER team than USC. Texas is much more complete. I would put Notre Dame up against Ohio State and i do think Notre Dame is one of the top teams in the country however this talk that they are better than Penn State, Va Tech, Alabama, and Miami needs to stop. Those teams would crush Notre Dame if they played them head-to-head. Add UCLA to that list to.
  2. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) 2 absolutley different positions. With all do respect Josh, you were 9 during Woodson's senior year. He was a shut down corner. Not a lot of INT's cuz he never really tried for the big play. Just knock the ball away and cover. He is the ONLY defensive player to win the Heisman. Cornerbacks are tough to judge because there are really no stats to compare them. You have to watch. Woodson's first 5 or 6 NFL seasons, NFL QBs rarely threw his way. i remember. He not only was a conerback but he was used at Wide Receiver and returned kicks I remember watching the Ohio State game in which he pretty much dominated. It has been sort of disappointing to see a lot of Michigan players be busts in the NFL. Bust is probably to strong a word however disappointing is something you could use for Woodson. It is sad to see that there has been only one legit superstar in the last 10 years to come out of Michigan in Tom Brady. On the positive Chris Perry, Braylon Edwards, and Marlon Jackson all look like they will be good players.
  3. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) I haven't really shared my opinion on it but here I go. Two facts before going into the movie: 1) I'm not or never will be a marine 2) I never read the book Going into the movie I thought it was going to be in the anti-War vein of Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now. Now, Jarhead certainly was similar in many ways to both movies but it really wasn't anti-War, and I don't think like many critics that it's merely a satisfactory War movie because of this. It's a tale of impatient people trying to wait patiently to do something important in their lives but the chance obviously never really comes. Many of the movie's clichés got to me, like the awkward end narration saying how we're still in the desert, yah, no s***. This attempt to be poignant kind of just annoyed me but I'm not sure how other people feel about it, so maybe it did work. The acting was 100%, top-notch quality, lol, all the lead actors were great and Chris Cooper, Lucas Black and Dennis Haysbert were all pleasant surprises. In the end I think this is a solid movie but certainly won't be any kind of War classic that will still be obsessed over 30 years from now. For a director like Sam Mendes I guess it's a small disapointment. I worried so much about how this movie would stand up to such a different movie like his Road to Perdition, but this was a goofy idea. 8/10 Full Metal Jacket > Jarhead > Tears of the Sun i thought the dead bodys near the bus a pretty strong anti war message.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) That should be obvious. Of course I do. they aren't better than Va Tech or Penn State.
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Wasn't Peyton Manning the 1st pick? Woodson won the Heisman and that has nothing to do with pro potential. EDIT:Yes Peyton Manning was picked first, follwed by Ryan Leaf (bust), Andre Wadsworth (considering I don't know if he's playing, bust), then Charles Woodson at 4th and to fill out the top five, Curtis Enis (bust.) So there are 3 players in the top 5 that can be considered busts before Charles Woodson and the only other players in the top 10 that have had a good career are Kyle Turley at the 7th pick if you want to call that a good career and Fred Taylor at the 9th pick. Fred Taylor is a better player than Charles Woodson.
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) I don't think they have anything to worry about at all, it's B.O. take is going to be massive. We are talking about one of the most beloved stories ever, in th eform of one of the most beloved screen icons ever, in the hands of a director that loves the original more than anything, and at the top of his game and is proving to be one of the greatest directors ever. This film will be huge. I'm not so sure it's the most expensive ever, but it did go over budget, which surprised everybody. it will be no.1 at the box office. Question is whether it will be a huge gross or not. Like if it's no.1 but if only $50 Million would that be considered a failure.
  7. Saw the trailer in front of Jarhead. It looks so cool. Jack Black is perfectly cast for the role IMHO. It also has Tom Hanks kid Colin Hanks.
  8. Saw it last night and IMHO is the best movie I have seen this year so far. Great acting from all involved. Peter Sarsgard deserves an academy award. It was both funny and very powerful.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) yea.. 4 pro bowl appearances in an 8 year career isnt that great most of it on reputation. He has had a couple good years however he is not a great player IMHO.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Why isn't that in green? considering he was what the no.1 pick you would expect a lot more from him. He has been a solid player but not great.
  11. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) made for someone on different board but figured someone here might like... boy what a bust he has been in the NFL.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Iowa State totally destroys Kansas State, 45-17. remember when Kansas State had an elite program a couple years ago? Boy how time has changed.

  14. QUOTE(Nokona @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Awesome. It was just great. I am going to see it tonight. How much of it is a comedy and does it stay true to the book?
  15. Man that Illini-Ohio State game is a bad game. Both teams are playing brutal football.
  16. QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) What a finish!!! NU is going to a bowl game!!! Bring on Ohio St.! Please beat OSU ass that way they will have lost 4 times going into the Bowl games.
  17. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) On that note, Burnett is also overrated. He has a lifetime 49-50 record and a 3.73 career ERA in the NL. He reminds me a lot of Jeff Weaver. Burnett has some upside with his good stuff, but I would go with Millwood over Burnett or Washburn. i agree. He is so inconsistent. This year really showed that.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) You hit this right on the head. How many teams can afford Konerko and have this as a position of need. How many teams need pitching and are willing to overspend on it. Which player has Bora$$$ as their agent. Bora$$$ is looking for a max deal. AJ Burnett is nice, however if I was looking to invest in a pitcher it would be Washburn or Millwood. i think Washburn is very underrated and he might be the best pitcher in the market. Look at it this way: Times Washburn has won 15 or more games- 1. Burnett- 0.
  19. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) You might have a point if it weren't for the fact that in BP Ichiro knows what pitch is coming, where it will be located, and its velocity. I have seen him hit moon shots in games to. And these aren't cheap Home Runs in batting practice.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Why the f*** isn't he trying, 15 more HRs next year would be 15 more RBIs and 15 more Runs for his team. The Mariners could win more games next year if Ichiro "tried". I just really don't give a s*** what he does in BP, I've seen him do it at the cell and at Comerica and he hit some HRs, congrats that's BP. Maybe he should try it in a game situation. because he is a leadoff hitter. It's like Pods. Pods can hit 12-14 Home Runs in a season but he decided not to because that is not his job. Ichiro's job is to get on base. If he hit in the 3 or 4 hole he might hit 25 to 30 Home Runs a year.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) This is one of the stupidest things I've heard concerning Ichiro. Everyone keeps saying that if Ichiro wanted to he could hit 30-35+ HRs next season. Well if he can truely do that why the f*** doesn't he, instead of hitting 15 more singles next season, hit 15 more HRs. It's the same thing with Ty Cobb and it makes no sense. because he doesn't try. Have you ever seen him take BP? Put him in the Cell and he hits 30 Home Runs.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) I was a big fan of Three Kings too. my favorite movie of all time. They were supposed to re-release it 2 years ago but they decided not to because of the war. It was supposed to have 2 extra scenes added. Ice Cube is an underrated actor.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) I want to see it. Is there a book that it's based on at all? I read Black Hawk Down about a year before it came out. Do yourself a favor and read the book. yes and i read it. It is a great book and it really takes you into the shoes of a guy in the army. Not only does it talk about the fighting but it focuses on what they did when they were just hanging out. Some of that stuff is funny as hell. I also read Black Hawk Down but after I saw the movie. That might be one of the most gruesome movies i have ever seen. Great movie though.
  24. QUOTE(BMac41 @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Lets go Buckeyes!!! they are gonna murder Illinois. If they don't beat them by at least 20 than they aren't that good.
