White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews
While I am stoked about getting Thome and people are trying to convince us Anderson and other prospects will live up to playing CF for Aaron, Aaron is a spectacular Center fielder, a team player, a stooge, a really funny guy in the clubhouse, and a MAJOR factor that made the 2005 Chicago White Sox what it was. Aaron, personally I love you, I wish you well in Philly, and you will be greatly missed. Here's to you, Aaron.

Lets stir up the pot a bit
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Personally I would trade Rowand and Garland for Ichiro, he is that good of a player.. Garland had one good year, I am leary of having him repeat his performance. this would allow anderson and speed in the lineup ElDque as the number 5 again, Bmac at 3 My thing is if He comes here Dye is our new 1b, I don't think we can sign both Ichrio and Paulie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's actually the first trade proposal involving trading ARow I've heard that's actally appealing. BUT, Garland and ARow are excellent players, and as I've said before, no one is at liberty so say that they are going to get worse or not get better.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) I am too. It was said that he feels that clubhouse leader ship is key. If we were somhow able to pull this off with the M's picking up some of his sal. And maybe we re-sign Kong. 1.Pods 2.Ichiro 3.Dye 4.Kong 5.Gooch 6.AJ 7.a-row 8.Crede 9.uribe <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In love with this lineup.

Blum Returns to Padres
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Thats what im wondering. WHat happens if Pauly leaves also. Are we going to do what Boston did and invite players who signed elsewere to enjoy the ceromonies? It just wont be the same but I think it would be the right thing do do. Lets see: You have Soxfest- in which the players will be cherished more than the '85 bears by the fans. You have Opening day- where the players will get their WS rings. Not to mention the raising of: 1. The AL Central Divsion Champions Flag 2. The American League Champions Flag 3. THE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS Flag Wow i wouldn't miss that if i were Pauly, Frank, Carl, Blum, exe..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow, I'm getting goosebumps now thinking of that. I can't wait to see it.

Sox have interest in Piazza
Ok, I can see your point now, although I was under the impression Damon was a good HR hitter. Now perhaps I failed to mention that from my perspective I'm talking about Dye and Damon both being on the team, and both together could produce solid HR stats. If you're talking about getting rid of Dye in favor for Damon, then I certainly don't agree to that, so rest assured

Sox have interest in Piazza
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Wow, yes it would. Dye > Damon. Damon would lessen the offensive impact of a traditionally offensive position. His defense is subpar. We would then have an OF which would collectivel hit maybe 30 hr's between the 3 of them. i would like to know how many championship-caliber teams that would have that low of production. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure if we're thinking the same thing, but I'm thinking IF teh Sox had Damon, the possibility would be to drop Gooch a bit down the lineup and have Damon in the 2 hole. And maybe I'm missing soemthing, but why is it important that a collective outfield have amazing offensive stats? All I can say to that as I said before is I think it's how they produce according to their spot in the lineup. Their defensive positions have nothing to do with how they produce offensively. THis conversation seems similar to the one I had with kalapse yesterday, where he mentioned that yes we won the WS, but it was hard and we had poor offense at points. Well yes, but the big picture is that we DID win the WS. That's the whole reason you play, so what do certain negative stats at points of the year matter if that goal was achieved? O_o

Sox have interest in Piazza
I'm not arguing that, but Damon being in our outfield wouldn't make our outfield overall bad. I can't see how you could say ARow and Pods are not productive. In fact if I may be honest, I think that would be a very ridiculous statement. And to be honest, IMO if Konerko left, I honestly would be at least partially in favor of Damon. I realize he's not a great outfielder, but his bat would be really helpful. Of course YES, this team IS based more on defense and pitching, so I guess I'm a bit out of line, but still, that would be very tempting. *EDIT* You said offensively, ok, but let's not make assumptions that Arow isn't going to better his numbers from this year. Overall even offensively I can't see things getting worse, in fact I'd see them getting better. And besides, I think the big picture is how they fit into their spot in the lineup, not how offensive they are as a collective outfield O_o

Move Iguchi
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Why would you only look at those two specific sitations??? There are a bunch of different scenarios that Iguchi would either have to give himself up, or get to swing the bat. Your picks seems to be biased towards exactly what you want them to portray. The most important stat when looking at whether Tads is hurt by hitting second is to look at his average with two strikes. Because he sees a lot of fastballs, and has to take them to give Pods a chance to run, that is a much more vital stat. Look at how bad hits 0-2, 1-2, and 2-2 to get a more accurate view of the reality of hitting behind a base stealer, because odds are he will be taking strikes in order to give Pods a chance to steal. Also by focusing only on a runner at first base you are looking only at the runner who has not moved. How many times did Pods steal 2nd only to be moved over by Tads on a groudball to the right side? That wouldn't factor into your numbers either I gotta say if you are going to say we need to trade someone, you need to make a better case than this... <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Sox have interest in Piazza
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Gross. Can you imagine an OF of Rowand Pods and Damon. Talk about the least productive OF in the MLB. That would absolutley kill this team, and its offense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Come again? Shouldn't that be in green?

Mike Piazza as a backup catcher?

Skepticism?
Yeah that's the crazy or wierd face. Pretty much the same look you can put on your face by looking at teh pic in my sig, lmao. O___o
-
Skepticism?
Oh I realize that, but of course, it's obvious to me some say trade this guy or that guy, and when it coems down to it, everyone weants someone else traded. Of course all of them aren't going to be, but I just can't see how at this point anybody would want Crede or ARow to go.
-
Skepticism?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) The thing is, people tend to remember the last thing that happened in certain cases. Meaning, since we went 11-1 during the playoffs and ended up winning the World Series. People like you tend to forget what it was like during the regular season when the team didn't hit for s***. The offense sucked this year in general and an upgrade is necessary. I highly doubt the Sox get as lucky in '06 as they did in '05, with the timely hitting and non-injuries. Changes need to be made. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't mean to be confrontational, but the Sox got through it and WON the World Series. Winning the World Series is the main goal, correct? So the offense did suck at points of the year, but um, so what? LMAO. They did it anyway. I think ur missing the big picture. I certainly don't want to see our most valuable guys like Crede or Pods traded and end up with crap. Of coruse you have to take chances, which is why this all happened in the first place, but as I said, we found that balance, and it worked. Sure it was hard, but getting to the WS and winning is not easy. Ask the 2000 Yanks, lmao. The WS is the big picture, and the Sox got there, so what else matters? Nothing. I really can't see this team changing that much, becuase change obviously is not needed much. As I said, we lose Konerko and/or Frank, yeah we're gonna need someone big in place, but does that mean we have to lose everybody else? I don't think so..........
-
Skepticism?
From what I've been seeing lately, not only here but in other palces as well, a LOT of talk, in fact MORE talk is about other players besides Konerko. I've been hearing a lot of people talking aboutt rading various people; Pods, ARow, Crede, etc. and the only thing I can do is go O____o What's that saying? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. While of course we have to look at the worst case scenario with Konerko and Frank, but does that mean we have to remodel everything? I look at what this team did this year, and how well they played in the payoffs, so flame me if you want, but I don't want a damn thing to change. If we lose Konerko and need a new player for him, so be it, but IMO, everything else that's still in place needs to stay that way.

Replica ring rumor
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's cool. I didn't know. But I figured it might be so, because my grandfather was actually groundskeeper at Bush Stadium back when the Cards won the WS in, I believe '82. I figure if the groundskeepr, janitor, etc. can get one, the commentators got a shot, right? XD

Replica ring rumor
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) When a team has a rediculous WS drought like the White Sox have and you have a genorous owner like JR, you'll see things like this happen. The Janitors recieved rings last year when the BoSox won, I don't doubt that a full-time employee like a ticket rep would recieve one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So does that mean Hawk and DJ got rings?

Torii Hunter gold glove?!?!?!
In all honesty, this both makes me fume AND makes me laugh at the same time. Hunter... GG winner, when he didn't even play for most of the season, beating out guys like ARow, who made so mnay unbelievable plays it's rediculous, and played excellent CF all year. I think I'm actually more sad to see that Hunter got the GG than the fact Aaron DIDN'T get one. How pathetic. What a joke, indeed. Maybe MLB should do the voting. Not that it would matter all that much, now that I think about it. But ultimately, I guess it shouldn't be focused on so much. The White Sox just won the World Series, and hoepfully they can contend once again next year, and we can just keep shoving it all back in everyone's faces. Wanna pick Hunter over Aaron? Ok, go ahead, just keep ignoring the White Sox like always, but it makes you look like even more like ignorant assholes, which you are.
