How are you planning to watch the potential clinch
TheBigHurt replied to Funkman7's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't WE have to win and have Cleveland lose AS WELL to win teh Diivision? -
Actually I think that already happened a LONG time ago. And why shouldn't it be? This team has done almost nothing for nearly a Century. Hopefully though, this season will be the start of a new beginning(I prey).

Had I been eating something when Blum came up to bat yesterday, I would have choked(no pun intended). I realize we did NOT play well yesterday, but IMO Ozzie just threw the game away. 1 out, bases loaded, 8th inning, and who gets sent in? No, not Timo. No, not AJ. It was Geoff Blum. I really hate to say this, but I think that was the worst decision I've ever seen a manager make. Maybe this is just a bit of venting from someone who watched the Sox get near dominated by a pitcher with 5 straight losses, with an ERA of about 8 over that span. But in any case, regardless of how we played yesterday, WTF was Blum doing at the plate? Hell, I'd rather see Widger stay in there that Blum get dragged to the plate. What, do you WANT us to lose, Ozzie? Ok stupid question, I know you don't, but it actually seems that way.

I loved this article as well. Some optomism, confidence, and sense for once.

Sox win again, KC beats Cleveland. For now, all is right with the world. Now we need for cleveland to lose another and have us sweep Detroit. GO SOX!

Is the Big Hurt not even traveling with the team?
TheBigHurt replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Strippers or this team...either way he is watching boobs. I would take the bouncy type over the sluggish ones anyday myself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Frank isn't married? -
Wow, I am blown away by this. I am just amazed. Now I don't wanna start anything(more) but I have to say this collapse seems to fall on Ozzie. The Sox, in my estimation, have played worse since Ozzie's managing has gotten worse. Now I respect Ozzie, I appreciate Ozzie, and think through most of the year he has been an excellent manager, but I also have to say, even though it hurts me to say, he may not be cut out for this ultimately. If he really did say all that, that makes me a bit dissapointed. Let's not mention the fact that all that crying and weakness he's showing, not to mention his own pessimism is in truth what's going to hurt the team the most. I still have confidence they can do it, but even though I don't want to, I have to say that IMO if the Sox don't win this division and ultimately collapse, it will be Ozzie's fault. Just keep in mind I'm being honest. I appreciate Ozzie and I hate to have to say these things, but it seems quite obvious now. Ozzie, you gotta stop letting this s*** get to you. If you can't take the rough baggage that comes with being a manger, you're not going to make it. And that's pretty sad considering this in general has been one of the biggest years, if not THE biggest that the Sox have had in a long time. Seeing it end in such an awful tragedy(which I think NOBODY saw coming), especially due mostly to your OWN dysfunction, would be a damn shame. You can't let your emotions get to you here. f*** the "curse" the Red Sox claim they have, I believe the REAL curse is upon this team. HELL, if we win the division, I will be happy just with that, but that's kind of sad, considering in the first half, they were playing good enough for definite WS.

Every game in recent weeks, when we win, I hear this: "YES! I have the faith back! They will make the playoffs! They have a shot! Great baseball! That was great! I love this team! GO SOX!" And every game we LOSE, I hear this: "NO! I have lost all faith in this team! They SUCK! They are OUT! They are NOT going to make the playoffs! I hate this team!" Can someone make up their mind? I realize YES, we SHOULD have won that game. The game was tied when Santana left. But jeez, we still have a slight lead and 10 games left, including 4 with Detroit. If you want to go on with the pessimism, fine, and IF the Sox ultimately choke, sure, go ahead and say "I told you so" as much as you want. But I still have the faith, and I'm keeping it to the end. I prolly also won't be posting here much the next 10 days since all I'll be hearing is what I mentioned above. Be confident. We took 2 out of 3 against the Twinkies last time, we can win or split this series just as well. And Detroit should be easy(knock on wood).

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) He was short and quick and got the head out on the ball. Usually he has to get extended to hit the ball out. It was a great swing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LMAO FlaSoxxJim, you beat me to the punch. I feel exactly the same way.

My overall thoughts on the game last night

Haters or doubters, either way, poop is good. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) Sideburns > goatee <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not for everybody. But definitely for Joe. I liked teh sideburns better, but anyone superstitious(myself included) I am betting is leaning towards the other right now.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) WHAT ARE WHITE SOX HATERS FOR? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FOR ME TO POOP ON! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ROFLMAO!!! OWNED! I really pity any "fan" who has a bad attitude after last night and can't enjoy what's going on lately. -
IMO it's just been a superstition thing. It seems lately anytime the Sox walk somebody, that somebody somehow scores.

AJ stepping on Boone=Hunter running over Burke
TheBigHurt replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow, watching the replay last night, I thought AJ had just jumped over him, LMAO. -
"Oh, I can be a loser, but when you're a winner, the beer tastes better." I will NEVER forget that funny-ass quote. It's now sigged. That game was not only a wake up call, but a giant jolt of energy and hope. I loved Hawk's reaction to crede's blast, and rest assured I was on my feet in the living room, screaming my head off along with him, and I'm sure many of you as well. I didn't even care that my dad was sleeping. I was ecstatic. I'm just glad ol' Hawk didn't have a heart attack, LMAO. But Crede and Uribe are heroes. No matter what happens. From here, I'll put into words again, only less vulgar this time, anyone who consideres Crede a bad player in ANY way, shape or form, thinks that this team can't win the division, or that the Sox have been playing bad baseball(LMAO) just deserves a hard slap across the face. We are back in this thing. NO, CORRECTION: We are IN this thing. It sure feels good to be a Sox fan right now. It seems Rally crede's origin happened at the same time this game went underway. And let me tell you, since that win, everything has gone good for me, and I can't stop smiling. DAMN, I love this team.
-
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Joe Crede is one of the worst players in all of baseball. He deserves no such praise. Give me something else to rally to. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LMAO. You poor, twisted soul.

I will join! *Marches* *Salutes* "AIYE, CREDE!"

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Hmm... He inspired me when he wrote this in a thread a few days ago too.... Have all you people lost you're minds? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I find Rock to be one of the most loyal, fiathful Sox fans here, something I actually, sadly, don't see as much as I would hope. And Rock, you're sig is great, too. Funny stuff

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) The Twins have owned us recently. No one sits around and thinks "those damn Indians always kick our ass". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess I just have more memory of the Tribe beating our asses in the past than the Twins. In fact, I have little memry of how we have done against the twins in the past, even though I am aware it's not exactly great. But I vividly recall the tribe whooping us year in and year out. But in general, this year, NO ONE has especially.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) You guys are all weak and pathetic. WE own the tribe. So they sqeaked out a game when our pitchers were horrible. We pounded the best pitcher in the AL ERA-wise. We own the tribe this year 10-4, what makes you think we wont take the next two games? We own our division and only play them the rest of the way. Everyone who is s***ting on the sox needs to leave the site. It was better here before you came anyway. I wont miss your horrible opinions and your knowledge-less posts. Good riddance to you and the horses you rode in on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Rock, once again you inspire me. Brilliant words.
-
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Why should we care what last year's or the year before that's team did against the Tribe? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just trying to invoke some confidence. We're what? 10-4 against a team that's been known for owning us? Keep your heads up is all I'm saying. This is no time to give up.

To all who think the Sox don't make the playoffs
TheBigHurt replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, Scotty's injury I think was what sparked this downside. Scotty hasn't been stealing or bunting, and whether anyone realizes it or not, that plays a HUGE role on this team. Ironically he's been swinging the bat better, but is it enough, and does it compare? Not quite, IMO. -
QUOTE(SoIL @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Yes. I'm curious why'd you be a fan of a team you consider to have a "s*** heap" of a history. Just asking a question, not trying to start an argument. We certainly aren't the Yankees, and we do have some duboius history. But your comments seems to pretty harsh for a team you cheer for. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Harsh? LMAO. I don't know what YOU are reading. I'M the one telling people to chill out, they will be fine, they are doing ok, they are not playing terribly. I see almost everyone ELSE being "harsh." You obviously misinterpreted my words. Sircaffey, I was referring to our history with them excluding this year. I have a bad memory, but if any of it serves me correct, The Tribe are a team that's had the Sox's number in the past.
-
QUOTE(SoIL @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) the s*** heap which is the history of the White Sox. If this is how you really feel why are you a fan? Wouldn't you be better off with a different team? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you talking to me? O_o

To all who think the Sox don't make the playoffs
TheBigHurt replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I've said it before. I'll say it again: knock on wood, winning this division, the way the Sox have played this year, SHOULD be easy. Are they playing now the way they've played earlier this year? Hell, no, but it IS the SAME TEAM. It can be turned around. Don't forget the 2000 Yankees, guys. Sure, we're no Yankees, but based on how good we've been overall this year, we sure as hell could be.
