  2. "See that there guy Sweeney over there? I'll give him to you if u let us beat you a few games. Please."
  3. Any pictures you find funny, post here and make your own captions. You can also copy someone else's pic and make a caption of ur own. This type of pic has had me thinking this cap for a long time..... Ozzie: "Whatchoo talk bout, dat col was bool, oh dat was de mos terribol col, ar u bline?! You no know how to col de gaa! What dat......." Ump: I'd throw him out, but I can't understand a damn word he's saying....... Poor ump. And eventually he says to himself "What the hell. I'm sure he's insulted me by now." YOU'RE OUTTA HERE!!!!
  4. Big Sqwert, I totally agree. I think the extra rest for everybody might make a big difference.

    Congrats, Pods!
  6. Hell yeah! B-Mac was spectacular again! The pitching was great, the defense was good minus a few errors, but the offense was rolling again. If the Sox can keep playing exactly the way they have been playing the last 5 games, I see good confidence and chances going into the playoffs.
  7. Is anyone watching the Cubs game? Did anyone see the Cardinals fan with the fishing rod with the plush cub as the bait at the end of the rod? LMAO! Len and Bob didn't seem to appreciate it very much....... "That is NOT funny."
  8. Kalapse, that s*** is f***ing hilarious! How do you make those?
  9. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) So what is it? What makes a fan do it? How can someone be a die hard fan, but constantly preach and predict negativity. Why do some fans always predict the worst outcome. I've thought about this a lot. I'd say probably half the board members have this attitude, as well as a number, of my family and friends. "Seasons Over" "Sox Are Done" "First Round and Out" are just some of the things I've heard and read. It's a lot easier to deal with losing if you put it in your head that we've already lost. If you say 'we're gonna lose' and then we do lose.... you don't feel as bad cause you were mentally prepared for the loss. Hell, you might even feel good because you predicted it. Why else do fans of a team go around saying: "I told you so...I knew we were going to lose that one." Well wuppty f***in do....you predicted your favorite team to lose and they did...how is that in any way good?? Now what happens if you're one of these pessimistic souls and the team wins. Well you feel good then too, cause deep down you truely are a fan. Who really cares if you said they sucked 20 minutes ago. They won!! Everyone is happy, but deep down you know you are happy about something you couldn't even let yourself believe in. This attitude reeks of weakness. You can't go through life preparing youself for the worst. I say you jump in with both feet. I've always been an all or nothing guy. Yeah, it hurts more when things don't go your way, but you take solace in the fact that you never wavered and you took the bad with the good. A guarded fan is a passionless fan. I'm not saying you can't be critical or that you can't be concerned. In fact, as a fellow die hard fan, I demand it. However, predicting losses or predicting that we won't make the playoffs or predicting we won't make it out of the first round is a mentally weak thing to do. Predicting the game is over in the top of the first when the sox are down 1-0 nothing is a weak thing to do. The simple fact is, this team is capable of winning every single game they play. At the start of every game, they have just as much a chance of winning as anyone. So why sell your self short of sharing that belief with them. Why try to soften the blow? Victory tastes so much sweeter if you don't. Believing you can win is part of the joy in winning. In the words of George S. Patton: "Americans love a winner, and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time. I wouldn’t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That’s why Americans have never lost, and will never lose a war: Because the very thought of losing is hateful to Americans.” Let's see the American attitude in the white sox fan. Don't prepare yourself for losing...prepare yourself for winning. Prepare yourself for the greatest end to a Sox baseball season in over 80 years. LETS GO SOX! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Controlled Chaos You said it, my friend. Sure we may not have jumped on gettign a great bat, and we are having problems, but this team is just as capable of winning as it did at the start of the year. All this negativity makes me sick.
  10. Is it just me, or was Joe playing a lot better when he was sporting those sideburns? BRING EM' BACK, JOE!!!!!
  11. I read the article, and IMO in a way he was right. But what he is saying is going to become a cancer if too many of you let it get to you. This season is not over. While I agree the Sox have horrible luck and usually choke, staying in that frame of mind is what's going to cause a demise of the Sox this year if it happens. We've played well in the first half, and then with the departing of Thomas for the season, as well as multiple back injuries and a Scot Podsednik missing for 15 days, yes, things have gone awfully wrong. But that doesn't mean we can't, as Hawk says, cinch it up and hunker down. We can still do this, but we have to stay in a positive, confident frame of mind, not all this "the Sox are gonna blow it like always" s***. And by WE, I not only mean us, the fans, but also the sox. Look at what the offense did last night. As DJ says so often, every one of these guys are capable of doing really well as hitters, that they can use their full potential. All I see is negativity. I think it needs to stop. Now, I WILL agree we should have gotten a good bat, but hey, we do have Gload and a few extra players now. Am I saying they will be pheonominal? No, but we should expect the best to happen, becuase it can. The negativity needs to stop.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) ^ Yeah, I just got back a Harold Baines card in the mail he autographed for me. It was arookie card too! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've heard about people doing this. What, do you just send t the stadium and hope you get it autographed? And how do u address it?
  13. Nice to see this become a collector's closet thread
  14. I honestly can't understand how Griffey can say "I'm not going" to a first place team which has maintained the best record in baseball most of the year when he's on a s*** team now.
  15. Hated player....hmm..... how about Michael Jordan?
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Against Sandy, he might make it there this week!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  17. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) There's plenty. I just can't narrow it down to one. Todd Ritchie Royce Clayton Juan Agosto Joe Borchard Mike Caruso "hate" is too strong a word for these guys. They just didn't cut it. "disliked" "drove me nuts" or "plain 'ol sucked" probably fits better. Jaime Navarro - you can say "hate" for this guy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  18. Big Frank is the man I do hope his career, and namely his career with the Sox isn't over. But when his career does end, I personally would love to see a day comemorating his stardom.
  19. For some reason, the biggest Sox year ever(this year) has rekindled my interest in baseball cards. I've had hundreds upon thousands of cards back when my parents were going card crazy, and we've had them locked away for years. I had, after a while, completely lost interest as a card collecter. But now I have come to find certain cards as personal trausures, not as money. I took it upon myself to go into the closet and drag all the old cards out, went through them, and found an astounding number of great cards, mainly Sox(that's all I was really interested in finding ). If you want to deem this as pointless, fair enough, but I thought I'd share my new found joy with you. I have found so many Sox cards that I had no idea I even had that I have now converted into 1 binder of favorites. Of course, many of these are old and many of these players were not on the Sox at the time. Anyways I found various cards I now treasure, such as these players: 1988 - Legends of Baseball - Ken Harrelson() Darrin Jackson - Donruss 94 Upper Deck Silver Signature - Frank Thomas(^___^) Various Frank Thomas Dustin Hermanson Upper Deck Rookie Class () Various Robin Ventura Various Roberto Alomar Various Jack McDowell Upper Deck Sammy Sosa Rookie Card(SHUT UP!) Don Pall - Donrus 90(Oh, what the hell XD) I have now been reintroduced to the card collecting joys of my childhood
  20. I don't understand why we didn't keep Anderson here. We need an extra bat. I realize we got Blum, but I'd rather see Anderson on the Sox bench than at AAA........
  21. Here's to Kong Here's also to my 200th post
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Depends on who we play and how hot they are in a month. Lets get there first, then get home field advantage. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't know we had any
  23. "Holy s***! AJ's dog is talking!" Just my strange sense of humor, not sure if any of you will even get it.
  24. Wow, this is different. A lot of people supporting Timo now. Just try to get Nuke in on it, though XD
