Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
I don't see how anyone can complain that Paulie is overpaid based upon some of the other contracts dished out in baseball today. Besides, if Jerry goes out and gets a couple of good bullpen arms now (which I think he will), why should any of us care what it costs to fill a World Series contending roster? That's a matter for Chairman of the Board to be concerned about....not us as fans.

Damn....I wish we could have locked him for the next five years.- Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) This is exactly what I'm worried about. I'm torn between the Konerko/reliever via trade and DLee/FA reliever options. I see pros and cons to both options. However, I'm really concerned that if we sign Konerko, KW is going to overpay for a reliever using Quentin. He may think with Konerko and Dunn he can afford to sacrifice some offense to strengthen the bullpen. I honestly think that would be a huge mistake. That's why I'm starting to lean towards the DLee option if KW can also get a legitimate right-handed setup man. I really don't think the Jerry will go cheap on the bullpen no matter what happens on the first base front. I think he saw what happened last year when we saved a few million on the DH spot and it cost us a division (and likely several hundred thousand in ticket sales). Jerry wants to win and will not make the same mistake twice. Also, I think he sees how down the Cubs are now and building a World Series team can help the Sox control more of the city's fan base. I think the only difference between signing Paulie and DLee is saving a few million on the payroll overall. I think our bullpen expenditure will be whatever necessary to round it out irregardless. Therefore, I'm hoping we get the contract done with Paul today....taking money out of the equation, I feel he's without a doubt the best fit for this club.- Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
If nothing else, Teahan could always play first- Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
Nothing wrong with Konerko asking for $15 million per season. We are probably offering $10 million at this time and the sides will probably settle somewhere around $12-13 million per season. Thats how negotiations work. If we offered $12 to begin with and they asked for $15....we'd probably end up closer to $14 million per season. Have some patience grasshopper....the deal will get done.- Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) yes, yes there is, Bridgette the Midget is the marquee name in that world. So I rented one of her videos tonite....she is one wild midget! I think the Cell should host a Bridgette the Midget Nite next year where one lucky fan spends the 7th inning stretch in a private suite with her!- Is it time to tear down Wrigley?
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) Er, you guys realize, right, that the entire bleachers section is brand new? So there's no need to tear down that part of the stadium. Derelict Cub fans have covered them in urine and vomit so many time since than....I wouldn't want to sit in them.- Is it time to tear down Wrigley?
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) There is no way in hell that the Cubs are moving to Naperville. Unless Ricketts uses that threat as leverage to get state financing for a new park. And wouldn't that ring familiar? Threatening to move to Naperville would get them no leverage with the state. If they want to gain leverage with Illinois, they'll have to threaten a move to Gary, Indiana or Dubuque, Iowa- Phil Rogers Must be on drugs
I thought his idea of the Cubs and Sox exchanging GMs was crazy idea, but than I got to this point in the article.... It amazes me some of the crap that the Chicago newspapers allow their writers to publish. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sc-sp...,3389440.column- Manny wants "Vlad-like" deal
Once again, can anyone point out in that article where Boras says that Manny is only seeking $5.5 million? His only comparison to Vlad is that he'll rebound like Vlad did. If any team called Boras now and offered $5.5 million, he'd probably hang up on them.- Manny wants "Vlad-like" deal
When I read that article, I see nothing from Boras that talks about Manny looking for a $5.5 million deal. He's only stating that Manny will rebound like Vlad....and I think the author rolled with it and added contract expectation. I'd be surprised if Boras is seeking anything less than $12-15 million at this time....and at that price, I'd pass.- Frank the ... Record Exec
Those chicks must be freaks in the bedroom....because I'm guessing Frank didn't sign them for their musical ability. (that song will never be a hit)- Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
He says Chicago is as far east as Konerko would go....and than lists Tampa Bay as one of the three options? He also says Paulie will only sign with a team that has spring training near Phoenix....and than lists Tampa Bay as one of the three options? Now, I'm no geography wiz....but I believe Florida is east of Chicago. I also believe that Charlotte County, FL is nowhere near Phoenix. This writer must be on crack and should consider a new line of work.- Guess the player's destination
If Konerko and Martinez sign for virtually the same money and we don't end up with Paulie, I'll be very disappointed in White Sox management. Victor is a good player, but I would take Paulie over him any day of the week.- 10/3: The Final Game of 2010
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) My ex girlfriend used to think I was crazy for watching MLB Network and the 2005 DVDs in the middle of winter. Notice I said ex girlfriend. If she had put out more often, I bet there would have been less DVD watching!- 10/3: The Final Game of 2010
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) I teared up thinking that Paulie's last AB was sacrificed for Mark Kotsay. But Ozzie wanted him to leave with a hit. I think it was good to get him out before fans started to exit as well. He deserved the standing O and it wouldn't have been as strong with 50% of the crowd gone.- 10/3: The Final Game of 2010
I don't think I've ever been so happy to see Kotsay enter the game before. Great job by the fans to give Paulie the reception he deserved when exiting the field. I still hope he's back next year......but as he said on Thursday, no matter what happens he'll always be remembered as a White Sox player to me.- 10/2 GT: Indians vs. White Sox. 6:05 PM CT: CSN, WSCR 670
Your 2011 White Sox are coming through big this inning....Viciedo, Flowers, De Aza, and Lillibridge- 10/2 GT: Indians vs. White Sox. 6:05 PM CT: CSN, WSCR 670
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Everyone's at the game. Standing room only. That makes sense. Wish I could be there.- 10/2 GT: Indians vs. White Sox. 6:05 PM CT: CSN, WSCR 670
Where is everyone tonight? I figured the game thread would be loaded tonight since its our last night game of the season.- 10/2 GT: Indians vs. White Sox. 6:05 PM CT: CSN, WSCR 670
Lillibridge should get an RBI there as well- 10/2 GT: Indians vs. White Sox. 6:05 PM CT: CSN, WSCR 670
Does Viciedo get an RBI there?- Getting Pumped for 2011!
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Yeah one problem. The Twins are still better than us by 5+ games. And they have money to spend. This team without upgrading (and I mean keeping Paulie/getting Jake) still tops out at 90 wins, IMO. I have a feeling the Twins could have a huge run of division titles in the near future. I disagree.....this team wins 110+ games next year the way its playing now. There's no way the Twins come even close to that number.- Getting Pumped for 2011!
The way we are finishing this season is really getting me excited for next season. The pitching is solid. The hitting is timely. The execution is practically flawless. Bring back Viz. Bring back Manny. Bring back Paulie. Lets add a healthy Jake. A healthy Gordon. And a rejuvanated Oz to lead the bunch. When's spring training start? I can't wait to see our run to the 2011 World Series. - Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
