I don't want Broussard fired, I think this was a deliberate move by ESPN to get this sort of firestorm started. I wish espn could be fined for it but they won't be

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) So I shouldn't have an opinion on the response to this story because it doesn't affect me? Come on. I'm not trying to minimize anything. I'm not bashing this guy. I'm not saying it's a non-story. I'm not saying it's meaningless. I'm saying let's tone down the historical relevance here because it's a career bench player coming out after his (most likely) last season playing. He's basically John Amaechi part two. I just think the reaction is a stretch. It's people having this story tee'd up for so long and now that it's here they're going overboard. Obviously you all disagree with me and that's fine. We'll agree to disagree. I have a general problem with the media and people generally over sensationalizing everything. This is just another example. Nobody said you shouldn't have an opinion, you obviously do. And it is pretty much "whatever, nbd".

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 09:58 AM) AND A COMPLETE DICK His finest quality. I loved the look on Cersei's face when he dropped the hammer on her and told her she was marrying Lorys whether she liked it or not

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) It's not meaningless and I said this story is significant. I just don't think the ZOMG! FINALLY, A PROFESSIONAL SPORTS PLAYER HAS COME OUT, QUEUE THE PARADE! response was really justified. That's all. Sometimes it is really sad how much you actively try to minimize accomplishments and events because they don't affect you personally. There are a lot of people in this world that are a hell of a lot more affected by this than you will ever admit to.

Who would you pick to headline a movie if you were director?
Kyyle23 replied to caulfield12's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 02:42 AM) What??? Caufield makes the direct correlation between box office $$$ and popularity. Therefore Shia Lebouf is one of the most popular actors in history -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 10:42 PM) This makes it sound like he won't be fired. Damn. No way he gets fired. This is classic ESPN "First Take"-type 'extreme viewpoint vs rational man' arguments. Espn knew what he was gonna say when he went out there.

I would pick Steve Harnden. If he wasnt available, then I would pick Southside_Hitman -
ESPN released the following statement about Chris Broussard's comments on OTL earlier today: "We regret that a respectful discussion of personal viewpoints became a distraction from today’s news. ESPN is fully committed to diversity and welcomes Jason Collins’ announcement." I like how espn pretends like they didnt know what Broussard was going to say.

Tywen Lannister is an absolute scene stealer

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) I think in the short term, Lattimore could run off a few good years before finally breaking down again. I honestly don't know much about Lacy. Hope he sucks. Lacy will have to manage his weight, if he can do that he will be bad news for the NFC north. If not , he will probably be another LenDale White

These refs are just ridiculous

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Now who is ESPN going to overhype since geno and te'o are gone.. Barkley for sure

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Kyle, If the bears historically had good 1st round picks, Id just let it go. But when they consistently muck it up, its just not saddening. Im tired of being fed nonsense. Badger, I know. I read it every year.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) I guess I just felt the Bears were going to be drafting to compete this year, and Long is project. One pick Badger. get off the ledge
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Okay so I think people really get too hung up on where guys are projected to go in mock drafts, and people also get carried away with the "always take BPA" thing. The fact is, unless a guy falls to them they totally weren't expecting, damn near all teams draft to fill a need in the first 2 rounds - how else do you make mock drafts to begin with? The later rounds are where you default to BPA. It's kind of hard to argue the Bears didn't badly need a guard considering LG was the worst position on the line last year. Eifert was in the "luxury" category and I honestly didn't expect them to pass on Floyd, but they're not really hurting at DT either considering Melton's presence, they just need depth there. The Bears passed on Floyd and Eifert and no, they didn't get good value on the 20th pick. However if Long pans out, it's a moot point. People also need to stop saying stuff like "they took a fourth round pick" because Long didn't have a 4th round grade, that's just making s*** up. He was late second/early first. There was a pretty epic run on OT early in the draft, I've never seen anything like that before - that pushes guys like Long up the board. Seemed pretty clear to me that Emery wanted to trade back from 20 and take Long a few picks later, but nobody wanted to trade. Athletic guys like Long don't last very long after the first round is done and he probably wasn't going to be there at 50, so the Bears took him anyway. I'm actually ok with that - Long at this point is like any other draft pick. Strike that. Reverse it.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 11:24 AM) While I am little angry that Bears couldn't figure out a trade down to take Long at the end of Round 1 (Falcons traded up to 22) or early Round 2, I think that is my anger over the pick more than anything. Hub Arkush is a normal joe-schmo critiquing picks. Phil Emery does this for a living. Who should I trust more? Hub has been sore at the Bears since he was dropped from the radio team.

Vontaze Burfict's character caused his problems much more than his 40 time did

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) I think the Dodgers would trade Ethier. Actually you are probably right. Puig is going to push someone out of that outfield one way or another
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Meanwhile, the Flash was already covered wonderfully in the short-lived 1990 tv series. I remember as a young 7-year old being obsessed with it, even though it probably sucked. I loved that show too. The first season was good, second season it just faded out.
-
QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) I'm sorry. I'm confused. Caulfield says that Ethier's contract is horrible, and you say that the Dodgers would not trade him. Which is it? It can be both. And it is.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I never saw it, because one look at the trailers made it obvious the movie was complete s***. there is probably an amazing drinking game tucked away in that movie
