Trayvon Martin
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 15, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) yeah I've asked that it be changed in the thread a couple of times out of embarrassment but it always gets buried. Is it still wrong? How is it supposed to be spelled?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 15, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) Being black and walking while otherwise minding your business is apparently a valid reason to call 911. Comforting to know that's the country that I live in and that's what people see when I'm not wearing a suit or playing with my son or doing something else inherently non-threatening. I almost filed an anonymous amber alert when you posted a picture with you and your son at the beach on FB

Make a case for a new manager in 2014
The Sox should have hired Joe Torre as manager. Fail. If they didnt hire Joe Torre, they should have hired Bobby Cox, because Cox has done nothing but win games for his entire career, and he taught Ozzie Guillen how to coach and has the same amount of world series trophies as Ozzie Guillen, so that means he is awesome. If those two guys werent available, well i guess Robin is fine as manager.

2013-2014 NHL thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) Kovalchuk may come back in a few years... http://nhl.si.com/2013/07/15/ilya-kovalchu...-st-petersburg/ So I read that him walking away from this deal still penalizes the Devils, is that true? If so, him coming back to the NHL would be hilariously evil

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 15, 2013 -> 03:56 AM) Sandow! And don't get me wrong, I hope I look half as good as he does when I'm 41, but RVD looked a tad pudgy. Still pulled off his same moves though so that's all that matters. Thought we'd see him get involved in an angle of some kind to start his run. Orton winning had me scratching my head but he has been laying low for the past few months angle wise. I'd like to see this start a heel turn and hopefully rejuvenate him. He's lost a lot of steam the past year, despite having decent matches. Pot

Not as exciting as trade talk . . . - DOUBLEHEADER!!
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 10:44 PM) How does Robin not pinch hit Dunn for Flowers, which would have brought in the lefty, and then he could have sent Rios to the plate for Dunn. I don't get it. Flowers actually did his job and got a single, saying he should have been pinch hit for is pretty silly right now. McEwing shouldn't have sent Keppinger

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 10:11 PM) This is why baseball frustrates me so much (besides the umpires). These guys sign multi year contracts and with very few exceptions, immediately the teams and the fans regret the terms of the contract. It's insane. You sign a guy and once the honeymoon is over (the offseason), teams and fans immediately want to get rid of the player who just signed. Well, buyers remorse is to be expected when the player shreds his shoulder 2 months into that contract

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 10:05 PM) If we trade him to the Tigers we'll never know if Rios would have been a bust with his next team. In the 19 games against the Sox next year and 16 in the second half this year he'll hit .420 with 18 or more homers (in 35 games) and about 60 RBIs. Trade him out of the division for gosh sakes. He'll kill the Sox just because he will. When people offer you bath salts, you say no

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) I can't imagine any team would take him and pay his entire salary. If they were willing to, then by all means, I don't care what they get back for him. If they do, a bad contract is coming back

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) His effort was a much larger issue. It's like he knew he was too short to be a good defender, so he was content with being a lazy and horrible one I agree he is a terrible defender, and his size probably dictated his effort.

BG just isn't big enough to match up with the other SG's in the league. His defensive problems pretty much start and stop right there.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) http://popwatch.ew.com/2013/07/12/inhuman-...-matt-fraction/ How will the introduction of "INHUMAN" change the Marvel Comics universe, if at all? With the newfound popularity of zombies and vampires, you know something like this was coming down the pike eventually. http://popwatch.ew.com/2013/07/12/sharknado-syfy-react/ Sharknado is taking over, boo-yah. Have to watch Piranhaconda now, too. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/piranhaconda/ It isnt going to change anything, this Inhumans have been around since the 70s

Puig-Mania Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 12:56 PM) Thanks in part to an odd alliance in which the Blue Jays’ and Braves’ fan bases submitted votes for each other’s candidates, Toronto reliever Steve Delabar and Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman have won the 2013 All-Star Game Final Vote and will be added to the rosters of their respective leagues for next Tuesday’s contest. The Sox did the same thing in the past, I believe with the Punch AJ promotion and with trying to get Podsednik in the AS game

Our team is 7-1 now, 2 more games until playoffs start. We have by far the fewest runs given up(44) and have first place. I hope we cruise in the playoffs and win our money back

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Danks v Pettibone Sox pitchers are hitting 1-13 so far this year, and John Danks is 1-19 in his career. So you are saying there is a chance.....

Puig-Mania Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) I would love to see these quotes where players from other teams are calling him out in less than 40 games of his big league debut though? First off, all of those quotes are from the diamondbacks players, who just got into a brawl with the dodgers and Puig was in the middle of it. And instead of quotes from players, how about talent scouts, before Harper ever played in the majors? http://yourkillinmesmalls.mlblogs.com/2012...asshole-cometh/
