QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) Figured out the twist in The Wolverine about 15 minutes into it. Was it bad? Not the twist, the movie
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) Is that in green? The Sox say they have lots of pitching and need offense. Apparently they are targeting pitching
  4. This series taught me that the sox need more pitching and that is what Hahn should target
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Well soccer is back on, let me know how we lose! Normal way. Errors, mistakes, laziness
  6. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) David Ortiz lost his mind. He didn't like a strike call on 3-0 and eventually struck out. He showed up the ump and got tossed. Then he had to be restrained by several players/coaches from going out after the ump. He then took a bat and smashed the s*** out of a phone box with shrapnel going everywhere. In fairness, it was a terrible strike call. Ortiz said it would have hit Timmons in the face if it wasn't caught, and he was right. No need to swing a bat like that in the dugout though
  7. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) Noodle arm or not he charged that ball hard and made a great throw. He did. I just thought Tekotte was much faster than that. Should have left Viciedo in there, at least when he gets thrown out like that we all know that is how it was supposed to be
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) What happened Tekotte thrown out at home running from second on a single by De Aza. Thrown out by noodle arm Dyson. By a lot
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 04:00 PM) Tekotte has been pretty disappointing as a baseball player This is how I read it
  10. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Just to recap: 1st play of 1st practice: Cutler interception 1st play of 2nd practice: Cutler interception 1st play of 3rd practice: Cutler incomplete pass #Progress

http://thecrashreel.com/ Highly recommended viewing. Just an awesome documentary about the competition between Shaun White and Kevin Pearce, and then the life changing traumatic brain injury that Pearce suffered while practicing for the Olympics. I didn't want to bog down the Tv thread talking about it. It has been on HBO for the last week, set your DVR. Rock, I forgot to mention how right you were about his brother David. Extremely high functioning Down's syndrome kid, very well adjusted. The Pearce parents are saints, they have gone through a lot.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) Ha, I watched it to. Two takeaways-wow those brain injuries really really change who you are. Second, his brother with down syndrome was one of the most amazing kids I've ever seen. So self aware and in tune to others emotions. The whole family wanted to speak up to kevin and it took his challenged brother to step up and do it. I had to watch the part about him many times. Also seeing Sarah Burke interviewed then die during the filming was f***ed up. The video of Shaun White crashing face first into the edge of the half pipe and coming out with just a mark on his face was just nuts. And yea, the interview of Sarah Burke was very sad and foretelling.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) #1 has got to be Beckham's antics to drop the ball vs the Mets Ha, I was thinking of the very same play. Viciedos 3 drop balls that turned into an inside the park homer is there too.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) I can't think of a better play to represent 2013 than the Rios blown tag up in the 9th inning tonight. You must be jesting. This season we have been given plentiful plays to choose from
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) see you next year, Dennis.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Just the season opener was the original diagnosis, but then Adam Schefter & ESPN announced him out for the whole season. It's not official yet though. Dislocated hip. Can't imagine that is an injury that you can come back from quickly
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) And it isn't even close. Our dline is extremely thin. Kyle, outside of Wooten, Shea, and Peppers, there is nothing all that grand about our ends either. Idonjie clearly had a place on this roster and would have been an excellent vet to have filling in and playing on pass rushing downs. For god sakes Kyle, you are listing guys like Irvin. Irvin is a giant nobody compared to Idonjie. Emery screwed the pooch on that. Thankfully, Wooten is starting to look like a player. I'm curious to see if he can stay healthy and also see how he can continue his development without Marinelli around (and if he will continue to take steps forward). I think Nick Collins is the one to look out for in the DT group, and Washinton in the DE group. Honestly I thought Idonije was just a guy last year. I'm not gonna get that upset over a 4th or 5th guy in the rotation
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) Side note: since when was "freeze on a liner" extended to line drives that are clearly going to the outfield? It clearly would have helped, you have to admit. I'm not gonna get into a long argument over it, 2013 is in a casket underground. No use getting upset over an difference of opinion.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) When you see that ball off the bat, you have two options a) go back to third -- you will not score on if it hits the ground because he'll throw you out. The one exception is if he dives and misses and the ball goes by him (on a trap play, you're still not scoring) b) go halfway, score if it hits the ground, go back and not score if there is a catch (which would require a web gem type play) He chose the wrong one. Let's not act like it was a play where it was clear a catch was being made, though No, I disagree with you, Jake. Less than two outs and you freeze on a liner. Rios went down the line as soon as it was hit and took himself out of the play. That is baseball 101, they teach you that in t ball
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) In the 7th, not all that often I would suggest but I have no stats to prove it. Now, if the Sox were winning at that point, I would absolutely agree with the move. The Sox can't score, at all. The guy has nobody that is clutch, nobody can steal a base off the bench, nobody cn get extra base hits. Nobody can do s***, and you sit here and pick apart a totally trivial move that was an attempt to try and score. Robin is far from perfect, but I'm not gonna b**** about that.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Why, at best that decision is to play for a tie. Viciedo is one of the only guys hitting well on the team right now, and was more than likely going to bat again. He is also a terrible defender and if you do tie or take the lead the better defense is already on the field. Don't act like other coaches don't make that switch
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) BTW, what a dumb decision by Ventura to pull Viciedo in the 7th for a runner. Not really, but go ahead and rant some more
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) For those of us not watching, what did Rios do? Keppinger hit a line drive to right that Lough made a great diving catch on, Rios went halfway down the line and didn't tag. It was the tying run. Gillaspie struck out, game over
  24. Lol please trade rios
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) Sorry guys... The worst kind of tease
