  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 07:50 AM) I'll relent on my desire to restrict gun ownership as long as you give me the ability to restrict the free speech rights of people like Michael Savage and Glenn Beck. Wait, so he is still insisting that the Saudi National is involved?
  2. The media and normal people following on scanners is slightly crazy. this is no 24 hour news cycle, this is 24 second news cycle
  3. YOU! IN THE WHITE HAT! YEA YOU! Nevermind, not you. Go on with your business
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) I like how Dad is saying they were framed. Framed people generally don't have guns and explosives on them, or shoot at cops. He also called the cops who shot his son "cowards." Yup, cowards for defending themselves when being shot at. Your sons are the cowards, and we're not afraid of your "hell to pay" after your other son ends up dead. Can you imagine the feelings of a father who had kids that perpetrated a crime like this? And seeing how these two apparently had some very strong anti US feelings, I am willing to place a strong bet that the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. In short, I dont expect their dad to say anything remotely sane QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) I'm happy that there is media coverage of this, but damn I bet those police officers are sick of worrying about the media following them everywhere. I think I would be more sick of worrying about a grenade being flipped in my direction first, and media following me second
  5. steve is angry about sports life in general. except the blackhawks.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) How much of these recent struggles have to do with management though? They wanted his approach changed to the point that now he isn't even taking walks. They want him more aggressive early in counts but that has never been what Dunn does. He works counts and hits mistakes a long way. He strikes out a s***load of times and his .obp the last 3 years has really stretched the acceptable levels of a true 3 outcome player. But Dunn has always hit 40 homers and walked over 100 times. That kind of production is very important. I just think changing his approach could correlate negatively with how many walks he takes if he is swinging earlier in counts. His White Sox career has not been too good but I find it funny that there are people who hated his game even when he was in Cincinnati. He was a monster. An awesome offensive force. That is what the White Sox paid for. They haven't gotten it but I completely understand and was jumping around like a schoolgirl the day he was signed. Its hard to pin this on management. When they got Dunn, they let him do what he always did, and it was an epic failure. At that point, they had no choice but to tinker
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) Not this s*** again... insert captain picard meme

  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Impressive. 3 straight losing seasons following a season with 83 wins, $30 million+ spent on Cubans, 2 straight drafts in the top 10 (will be 3 this year), and they're "top 15 in nearly every publication". I mean, that's amazing, all the way up to the middle of the pack despite losing year after year. Man, I'm jealous of how well run that franchise is. Just makes me want to have a losing team for half a decade too, so that we can be fringe-top-15 in nearly every publication. lol
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Omogrosso pitched some very important innings last year...where you were surprised Ventura had such confidence in him. Same with Septimo, before the Gonzalez homer. Omogrosso did not pitch important innings last year. Every game he pitched in september, except 2, were losing efforts. He was a roster expansion callup, and he pitched mopup late in games that the Sox were losing. And in the games he pitched in July for his short time up, he gave up 3 runs in 6.1 innings. Septimo was also used as mopup in september, although he was given even less rope and was only allowed to see 1 batter at a time after he blew up at Boston, and even then he was suspect. These guys were not the reason the Sox bullpen was considered good and deep, they were roster filler at the end of the season. And for the record, I dont hate Ommogrosso.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) Can't believe how bad the 2008 draft has turned out. There's still time for a few guys (Hosmer for one). But for what was supposed to be one of the better classes of the last 15 years or so, most have been a major disappointment (sans Buster Posey). Interesting that you are giving hosmer a break when he is performing just as bad as the rest. The guy looks like a mess at the plate
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 10:57 PM) So Miami finishes the season winning 37 of their last 39 games. Only losses during said stretch were, of course, to the Bulls, and the Knicks (LeBron/Wade didn't play). Good luck rest of the NBA. f*** it. None of you have a chance. And J4L has delivered the kiss of death
  13. Spacey was a good Lex Luthor. Unfortunately when that movie was made, Lex was not who Superman should have been facing. And again, like bmags said, the problem was solved when Superman threw the problem into space
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) DERRICK ROSE WILL RETURN TONIGHT OOPS WAIT THE BOMBERS ARE CAUGHT OOPS WAIT F*CK/flapship fixed
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I don't get the Superman is a boy scout talk. Most major superheroes from DC and Marvel are boy scouts. They don't kill anyone. I think a problem is the movies never really pushed across anything other than Superman vs Lex Luthor. IMO the best movie is 2, when he goes against Zod.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) Anyone know anything about that lineman bears signed yesterday? (talent wise) Eh, seems like a guy. He started 5 games last year for the Jaguars before being demoted.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) 6 months I wish the sox made Joe Crede do pushups
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I disagree on TDKR. Bruce Wayne is human, so his back was broken. His back was broken during a confrontation. He didn't eat Kryptonite Donuts. He survived and completely recovered from getting his back broken by doing pushups in like a month. GMAB
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) The opening of that trailer pretty clearly had some time where he wasn't just being a boy scout, he was hiding on the world. In interviews Goyer was very clear in that this is a movie where Superman is not accepted by people, he is feared. And in turn he is isolated because he doesnt relate to normal people. This movie could very well suck, I havent been a big fan of Zach Snyders films, but I want it to be good so that DC can get some their better stuff off the ground and give Marvel a good run and up the ante on both sides.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) The Thor example works (kinda), but the others doesn't. Batman and Iron Man and Spiderman and the XMen and Captain America all sometimes suffer defeats because they have worthy adversaries. Superman usually needs some gimmick that strips him of his powers because he's so OP. Sure they suffer defeats. Then they come back and win. Superman has suffered defeat, he has died(and come back). Brainiac has messed him up bad a few times. Im pretty sure yellow lantern Hal Jordan also messed up Superman too. But they all come back to win. I understand Superman is a boy scout and hard to relate to, but this movie and the relaunch of his character in the DC comics is supposed to solve some of those problems. We will see.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) Yeah, but superman is a rough franchise since everything is solved by him throwing the problem into space. Oh no, he's weakened! Oh, he found the strength to overcome his weaknesses, and look, he's throwing bomb into space! Hopefully that is not the case here. Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer wrote the screenplay. Considering the work they did with Batman, I am willing to give them a shot here.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) GEE I wonder how they'll compromise Superman's powers to make him less than immortal during that 2.5 hours? It's hard to get into a Superman movie. That is pretty much the script of every superhero movie. Come on now, TDKR, Bruce Wayne had his back broken, the new Iron Man he is going to lose everything. Thor lost his power and was cast onto earth. It is how those movies are.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) Except last year, the real strength of the team wasn't our bench, it was the depth of the young bullpen. Guys like Omogrosso, Heath, Marinez, Septimo, etc. I dont think any of these guys were strengths or even depth last year. Septimo never recovered from that bomb he gave up in Boston, Heath barely pitched, Omogrosso was meh, I dont even remember Marinez pitching. Santiago, Jones, Reed, Veal at the end, Axelrod here and there. That was the depth.
