QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) I'm sorry. What the hell does this mean? I believe it means Omar is the last remaining player in MLB that has experienced playing in Old Comiskey

You know, I really don't think the capacity of the stadium is the main factor here. I think the big deal is the extra stuff outside the stadium. When I went to the 02 superbowl in NO, there was so much stuff to do outside of the Superdome it was silly. Then you add in Bourbon street? Sold. In Chicago it isn't going to be like that. Sure, there is stuff to do, bars, restaurants, etc. But it isn't as if people can go walk around wrigleyville when there is a decent possibility that 12 inches of snow will be on the ground or coming down. There isn't going to be outside concerts and things like that. I don't see it happening.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 31, 2012 -> 05:11 PM) To be fair, things haven't been too good with the Sox since the World Series. This is true. For me a lot of the blame goes to a guy who left town, and who let his ego get in the way of his job. We always knew what Kenny was, homer or strikeout. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. But only one time did I ever ask "wtf are you doing", and that was in 07. They won the next season, and shortly after that the Guillen/Williams feud began, and a lot of what was happening was really clouded by what was happening between them. This is how I see things, it could be right it could be wrong.

That would be a mass suicidal event if Castro is traded. They built him up so much last season, he could go on to become their next Lou Brock.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 31, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) How's giving Kenny one last chance, Mariotti? You GAVE Kenny one last chance? That is very generous of you, here I was thinking that you were stuck with him, but that wouldn't stop you from firing off thread after thread showing just how bad things really are(ie. This thread). Weird.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) I've been consistent in saying that if this team does not contend this year that it was time for Kenny to go. How's that being Jay Mariotti? LMAO, really? Calling for KWs head while simultaneously predicting success and failure isn't Mariotti?

admittedly i read the story quickly on my phone, so I may have missed that part. what a horrible thing to happen to a guy. There is no coming back from that. His face is gone, his sight is probably completely gone as well
-
The thing that makes me curious, it didnt really seem like the guy fought back, and if he did, did anyone notice that this guy was getting mauled?
-
I know what day the game is guys. Just putting it up to start the discussion.
-
F*** Seattle and the rain they brought with them. Go Sox. Peavy time baby

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) I don't get why the Padres don't just move the fences in already. No free agent will want to sign there, and no one will want to watch the games. The Padres hands have been tied for a while now since the ownership situation was in flux. They stripped the payroll to bare bones and havent been able to do much at all. I bet we start to see some changes when the owners are established.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Did Alexi almost overrun that last pop out in short left, or was I seeing things? If he missed that, two runs prob score, game over. Probably was having problems with seeing it against the roof

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) I love it. I hope there are posts proving me wrong for years. By the same token, I'm curious as to why I get no props for being the first one on here to say the Sox should contend. Posters on here had the Sox losing 90+ games in Jan/Feb. How very Mariotti of you, Marty. Stick a "I think they will contend" statement in the middle of a bunch of "I think they will fail, and fail hard, and KW will be the root of it" statements and all of the sudden you are the only one that saw it coming. Nice job.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:09 PM) adiReed™ is unphased by men on base. AdiZero runs scored?

8 is great. Recognize, b****ES

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) SO, for those of us who can't watch the game... looking at Gameday, it seems like... Beckham and AJ were both hit by pitches so far today... and then a pitch behind Zobrist got Q thrown out. What are the missing pieces here? Something about a spiking? AJ spiked Zobrist on a hard slide either yesterday or the day before. It wasnt cool of him, definitely the type of stuff that earns him his reputation
-
so can anyone explain to me why Quintana is throwing at someone, while winning the game
-
Kaplan and Sullivan both said on CTL the other day that Rizzo will be coming up 3 weeks into June.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 08:08 AM) paul hoynes @hoynsie #Indians put DH Travis Hafner on DL and recall LH Scott Barnes from Class AAA Columbus. in other news, the sun rose today
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:00 AM) Is Quintana a legit prospect or is he just a stop gap till Danks returns. He has done well vs Cleveland twice but don't remember seeing his name ever in the minor league board. He was a minor league free agent signed away from the Yankees system in November. He really hasn't been with the organization long at all.
-
So, does Morel lose his job to injury? Or does Robin go back to him after the rehab assignment?
-
The legend continues
-
F*** the dome and the team that resides in it, part trois. Go Sox. Quintana. Even 8. Do it.
-
Is this team perhaps the most fun one you've watched?
Kyyle23 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The 2004 offense was pretty crazy until frank and maggs went down. I don't know why but this reminds me of that offense pre-injury. -
