  1. This guy vs this guy One of these guys looks like they mean business GO SOX
  2. What is this "no to the cubs" nonsense? Dempster has a 1.86 era, and is currently working on a 33 inning scoreless streak. This trade is a no brainer if it happens

There are a few movies at Comic-con that I want to seer trailers for. Elysium, Pacific Rim and Man of Steel specifically
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 05:27 PM) Well we haven't signed him yet, but I'm sure we're always looking to fill spots. There are no starters to get right now, what else is there? NDFA or NBDL is like saying we should have signed Beverley 3 years ago instead of now. If our talent evaluators think he's the best option, who am I to disagree? I don't watch the Eurocup or NBDL and most NDFA are what they are because they aren't ready for the NBA (perhaps never will be). I'll leave it to the guys that have some idea what a future NBA player looks like in these lower levels. Its not at all like saying that. Beverley was evaluated many, many times since he was drafted, and obviously he was found wanting. And like you, I am leaving it to those very same guys who have an idea what a future NBA player looks like and trusting them in their previous decisions to not offer him a contract. There are players that break the glass ceiling and find themselves later in their careers, I know that. But there arent many. And what do you mean there are no starters to get? Has every free agent out there signed a contract?
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) I'm just not convinced that you can get "real" NBA players for this particular role, when it is assured that the player will be released or forced to feign injury the instant that Rose returns. If we were choosing him over a Michael Redd type of roleplayer, I'd feel much differently. The question I have is why does this role need to be filled right now? Why is it so important to sign the last guy on the bench right now? As for finding a player for that spot, I'm looking UDFA and NBDL first
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) This is the type of guy that is going to be your 3rd/4th point guard. I don't see why you're so opposed to it Kyle. He's going to average 5mpg and play 1/3 games in all likelihood. I know you want to replace bench scoring, but it was never happening in this role anyway. I am opposed to them wasting a roster spot on a guy who isnt NBA quality. Not hard to figure out. this season should be about trying to rebuild a roster so that when Rose gets back, they can assimilate him onto the roster and go. Adding guys like this is a total waste of time, because when Derrick comes back, he goes. Simple as that. This is just putting a guy in a uniform just because. Who gives a s*** what he did in euroleague, college, or f***ing Marshall? I want a guy who actually competed in the NBA wearing a Bulls uniform. Not Dalibor Balgaric types. You guys are just settling for mediocrity. Im through with that, this team/town/fanbase deserves better than that.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) I don't think we "need" Huston Street and Volquez to compete, but they might be useful. I wouldn't give up too much for them and almost certainly nothing on the current roster. I would be absolutely shocked if we went for a big fish at this point, we really don't have the guns to do it if we plan on keeping our offense potent. As far as Halladay goes, I think he has a torn labrum. Wouldn't shock me if we don't hear much from him again, but we'll see. They say he strained the same back muscle that Peavy tore. He is on the shelf for the foreseeable future
  8. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) Well at the very least hes worth a look, obviously because he is indeed getting a look by the Bulls. Would you be angry at the signing Kyyle? In no way am I about to compare him to Rose but what kind of numbers did Rose put up in high school?? Once again just out of curiosity, no comparisons. Beverely put up 30+ per game for Marshall. Another plus over Lucus is Bev is a lot more lanky than JL3. Bev shot 38% from downtown in the euros so he's not exactly terrible from beyond the arc. I would not be the least bit disappointed if either him, Jonny Flynn, or Demitri McCammey are brought on as our 11th or 12th man next year. Next year I think Kirk will be the backup SG if all things stay the same financially so bringing in one of those guys would just be insurance. Not angry. Disappointed
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Looks like Flowers has become Peavy's personal catcher. AJ caught Peavy two of the last three games. Hard to argue with it after the length of last nights game actually after looking at it, it looks like AJ caught him every game in June but two, Cubs and Yankees. And also caught him in Peavys final start before the AS break
  10. ha, its been a long time since i was called a kid.
  11. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) John Lucas III is 5'11" Patrick Beverely is 6'1" He's not going to be the next Lucas. He's a better defender than Lucas, he's more athletic than Lucas, he gets to the line more than Lucas, he can actually pass the ball to other players unlike Lucas. In the euroleague, hopefully

  13. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) There's no talking to you, you apparently believe that no conclusions can be drawn from stats or online videos. Yeah he didn't put up those stats in the NBA...but still...he has shown himself to be a certain type of player with certain strengths and weaknesses, and that is unlikely to change no matter where he plays. You will not get me to agree that Beverley deserves a roster spot on the Bulls, absolutely. His weaknesses will completely dismantle him. And you cannot teach height. Just remember this highlight on youtube when you think of a guy his size trying to compete in the NBA
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Smyly back on DL. blister again?
  15. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Just look of his highlights on youtube. Obviously he feels comfortable driving and either drawing contact or finishing. Worst case scenario on offense: PG version of Jimmy Butler. No, worst case scenario is John Lucas without an outside shot. And that, my friend, is an absolutely worthless player in the NBA Highlights on youtube? High School players make their own highlight reels on youtube. You never tend to see the bad stuff though, funny how that works
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) Has Danks made any good plays defensively since he's been up? He played a huge role in causing the Sox to lose a game to the Dodgers by turning a single into a triple. Last night, it seemed like he wasn't playing deep enough in that situation. He seems more comfortable in CF. The ironic thing is he looks much more competent at the plate than a lot of us thought he would. Yea I am pretty sure Danks made a key diving catch a few weeks back when he spot started. Minnesota maybe?
  17. You know who the bulls need? Dimitris Diamantidis. Best defender in FIBA 6 times! Sign him up!
  18. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) We're going into the season with 1 proven PG on the roster. PG depth is something we do need. And this guy is never going to play on the court at the same time as Derrick Rose. But if he does, at least he's another guy that can play off him, can run the floor with him and can put pressure on defenses like him. And adding Beverley still leaves the Bulls with 1 proven PG on the roster. PG depth is fine. Shoot higher, I would rather have Mike James' corpse on the roster than Beverley. And you are sure projecting a lot of talent on a guy who has never played in the NBA.
  19. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) You want us to make big moves, I get it. The small moves aren't sexy. They disinterest you. But Lucas had to play big minutes for us last year and if it comes to that again I'd like someone on the roster who can do more than just chuck 3's. No, don't misinterpret me because I'm not hugging Beverleys nuts like you are. I understand that the bulls need to replace Bench depth, they just lost two long range shooterS in Korver and Watson and you are advocating putting another undersized pg on the bench, but this guy can't even shoot well from long range by your own admission and draft Profile you posted, so I'm supposed to be excited about that because he is scOring in Russia and Europe? The bulls are also going to end up cutting him when Rose comes back, so your idea of adding this dynamic ball handler and inside scorer next to Rose isn't going to happen either. In short, it's a waste of time, the bulls have a lot of important bench scoring to replace and putting an undersized pg on the roster as the third guard is just a dumb idea That said, it is such a Pax move
  20. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Here is Beverley's DraftExpress profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Patrick-Beverley-1132/ As you can see, the sample size is small, but he looks like a poor long range shooter. Could that explain him not being picked up by any NBA team? But on the good side, he also seems to get to the line a lot and shoot a good percentage from the stripe. 4.8 assists in 32 minutes to 2.5 turnovers. A high number of steals per game K, that's great. Seems like a good euro player, I set my sights a bit higher than "well he seems better than Lucas", that's all
  21. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) He's a good defender, a good ballhandler, he's athletic and can finish at the rim. What more do you need to know about him? Sign him up, he sounds like an improvement over Lucas already. Why hasn't he been picked up by Anyone else in 4 years if he is so good?
  22. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) I know I'm late to the party on discussing Beverely (I've been celebrating my birthday the past couple days) but I wanted to throw my 2 cents in there. To go along with the points made about Lin being waived a couple times, and the fact that 2 of the better PGs in the league are 6'0'' and 6'1" (Paul and Rondo). From all the reports I've read this guy is a real good scrappy defender, and he plays much bigger than his size. The guys a tremendous rebounder for someone his size, he lead Arkansas in rebounding his Sophomore year (6.6) including a 14 point 15 rebound game against LSU. In the Euro league he averaged 7 rebounds per game while averaging nearly 17ppg. Also not that it matters, he won the slam dunk competition out there as well so he can obviously play above the rim....All that said I think he's potentially more of a poor mans Rondo/Westbrook (smaller guys that play bigger than they are) than JL3 V2. Only way he gets minutes though is if they plan on using Kirk at SG, which at this point in time is not a bad idea. Again, you are comparing two elite players to a guy who hasn't gotten any play from the nba since he has been drafted. Some guy floating around the euro league dominating the power forward position isn't going to succeed at 6'4" because Charles Barkley did it. He is there for a reason
  23. The Sox are going to trade Hudson for Lance Lynn, straight up
  24. That game was just nuts, twice doubling off runners with the game on the line to end innings, Tanks homer, Beckhams double, Youks game ender.(and plenty more I am leaving out It was fun to watch but I needed a prilosec after it was over. btw I really thought Hawk called a good game last night. He could have gotten tired and bored but he was into the game all night until the last pitch.
