You are right, I will amend that to say "I am sure it involves an awesome offseason of Hinrich, Korver, Beverley, and Ridnour"

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) We weren't debating actual talent, you posted that being 6'1 was a detriment for a PG and I posted that 6'1 doesn't have to be. Stockton was 6'1 and was the great PG this side of Magic. Do I think Beverly can be Stockton? Of course not but being 6'1 shouldn't be the end all, hopefully this kid can contribute off the bench because obviously he's got handles judging by that video and we need more ball handlers. Hey, you made the comparison, not me. It is a detriment, players in the NBA are bigger . Like I said, Stockton was an exception not the rule. There is a reason the kid hasnt played in the NBA since he was drafted

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) That never stopped a certain PG who played for the Jazz... did that certain PG float around europe for the first three seasons of his career? There are exceptions, and there are rules.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) He's just bench depth. But get excited by the fact that this team is headed in a new direction: FO targeting players with certain skillsets to compliment Derrick. LOL, you are excited about a player that makes Jannero Pargo look big?

Slow pitch softball thread
We had a new guy play with us last night, who is an ex college baseball player. I dont think he could have had a worst first impression if he tried. Because he had an incredible arm he refused to throw to a cutoff, ended up(from RCF) throwing the ball into the 3rd base dugout 3 times, dropped one ball, tried to ballfake a ball that dropped in front of him by 15 feet, got burnt on a flyball near the fence by coming in first, got in a pickle between 2nd an 3rd and got picked off, and to top it all off in anger he threw his glove in the air, and it ended up going over the fence and stopped the game for a few minutes while he ran around the fence to go get it. He hit ok, he hit a homer and single, but he got picked off, so it kind of mitigated the single. Oh, AND he locked his keys in his car with his lights on.

I had a feeling you would say that littlehurt, lol. FWIW, he has gone 7 for 7 in saves since he came back.

Trade Deadline Top Pitching Targets
Len Casper was on the score yesterday and he was talking about Cubs tradeable assets, and mentioned that the Cubs were willing to get rid of Marmol and eat most of his contract. Given crains recent injury issues, snatching Dempster and Marmol really seems like not so bad of an idea right now. I would actually put Marmol back in the role he excelled in, 8th inning, and let Reed continue to close.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 07:49 AM) Yes I'll steal this to pad my post count, thank you Kyle. Of course, the concept that the reason they decided no action was appropriate was that the 4+ of them were involved in a criminal conspiracy to make sure that no legal action would be taken...doesn't cross his mind. you have a lot of stealing to do to catch up to SS2K5. You should change to a line by line seperate post reply format as well

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) Boy, it sure seems like Bulls are targeting with the idea of ballhandling, playmaking, youth and athleticism in mind. I'm so glad for this. There's a large athleticism gap between us and teams like the Heat or Thunder. Hard for me to get excited about a 6'1" 185 lb player that hasnt even sniffed the NBA.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) More injury prone than Brook Lopez? That dude just got a 61 million dollar contract in this market. I mean lets not kid OURSELVES here, players get overpaid on a routine basis. Deng and Noah are good enough players where they would likely receive even bigger contracts than they're signed for now out there. if these contracts are so bad, why does every team want these guys? Nobody is banging down our door asking us for Carlos Boozer. Deng, Noah, Taj, Asik...these are the guys that interest teams. Yes. Before the past two seasons, everyone on this thread was ready to strap Deng to the next train out of town. Noah has certainly spent plenty of time on the injured list himself, specifically 2 of the past 3 seasons going into the playoffs And one player getting a bad contract doesnt mean the other contracts automatically become bargains

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) If you pin your hopes on trading for a superstar, that window hasn't closed for us yet. Our most attractive trade pieces (Deng and Noah) are still on bargain contracts and performing at a level that makes them appealing, and will do so for the foreseeable future. Lets not get crazy here, both of these players are on big contracts and both of these players are also very injury prone

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) No argument. I mean, yes. They aren't an elite front office. I do think they are a bit above average, though, but conservative. I think their issue is they don't look at the nba championships as their god-given right the way the LAs and Bostons do and with our history there's no reason we shouldn't. That said, I just don't think trading for howard would work out. But next off-season I want there to be fireworks. I mostly just want to tread water until I see something interesting, the most interesting thing about this offseason was PGs, so, not really helpful. My biggest problem is they project this possibility every season, and it never happens. It is always "well they could have tried to trade for KobeGarnettGasolHoward etc, but it never would have worked out. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and see. Sometimes it works out(08 Celtics) sometimes it falls flat on its face(Knicks with Amare and Melo). At the very worst, the Bulls would be left with Rose and a hell of a lot of money to play with. At the very best, Howard flips and decides Chicago isnt so bad.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) No Im not, youre the one who argued the fact Thibs didnt play him 48 minutes was "resting" him. The fact is, when Thibs put him out for over 38 minutes, he seemed to get injured. You would think after that happened the first time, they would have been more careful. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. No, I said he was resting him up to 10 minutes a game. Almost sitting him an entire quarter. its fine, you dont like Thibs for silly reasons. You are wrong, I am fine with that.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) Right because players play 48 minutes per game during the regular season? What was the highest Average MPG in the NBA last year? Loul Deng 39.4 How many players averaged more than 38 minutes? 5 So you think its defensible that Rose was being asked to play a full workload even being injured? You are defending Rose being played as many minutes as the top 5 guys, while injured, that makes no sense. Did Rose average 38 MPG after he returned from injury, everytime? No, i dont believe he did. Did he play some games where he approached or passed 38MPG? Yes, he did. You act as if Thibs sent him out for 48 MPG, not me.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Reading is fundamental. After Rose was injured this season, AFTER ROSE WAS INJURED, the Bulls should have limited his minutes. That is not the rest of his career, that is if he keeps getting injured in the same season, maybe you shouldnt play him 40+ minutes in his first game back. That is not rocket science. And I showed you in the previous thread they did, aside from a select close games. Hell, playing 38 minutes is effectively sitting your star player all but 2 minutes of the fourth quarter. So get on your fundamental science rocket and quit using your own idea of limiting minutes as a reason thibs should move on.

Ah right, so don't review previous game logs and compare any of the other gameplay. Again, you just looked at the stats in a vacuum. Derrick should only play 35 minutes for the rest of his life according to Badger. The end.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) I think Thibs contributed to Rose's injury. Look at the game logs, after his first few games out, basically every time he played 38+ minutes he got hurt again. Rose should have been handles with extreme caution and being ultra-conservative. No reason for your star player to get hurt in the regular season. I hope you have more faith in them than me. They get paid millions of dollars, I get paid $0. FALSE
