  1. Im just going to say the Sox need to keep winning and not worry about the other teams. If they go on a crazy run this September and they still lose out on the division and Wild Card, it wasnt meant to be. Both the division and Wild Card are within reach though. The Rays have an extremely tough road to get to the playoffs, even with their final week and a half of baseball. The Twins and White Sox will decide when they play each other(imo) who gets the division.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) Somehow...I think if others take off with the "It would have been nice to know last night"... point as a thread starter, we might be able to get this one to last a while. It would of been merged with either the relationship or I am drunk thread if anyone else started it
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) Teahen played 1B yesterday, has played it before, and is perfectly capable of the rare appearance over there. There really is no need to have Kotsay on this team if he is going to be useless with the bat. at least as of late Kotsay hasnt been totally useless with the bat. He actually has been getting some hits here and there, and some of them have actually meant something in the grand scheme of things. The last series in Detroit, for example.
  4. Its been such a crazy season, to be out at this point would make you question whether you really are a fan at all.
  5. It was fun to watch Orton RKO 4 people in a row last night. And it is super creepy how much Darren Young looks like a blackface John Cena. I didnt notice it until Cena pointed it out a month ago when they had the match that knocked Young out of Nexus, Cena called him "My evil twin" or something like that. In the face, they look very much alike

QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:15 AM) I shall find new friends...friends that will agree with me on every movie review that I give...that is my ultimate dream. fans of tyler perry movies will find no such friends.
  7. QUOTE (11and1 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) Any discussion of Ozzie's relative strengths and weaknesses has to take into account how bizarre this year has been. You can't pin the blame for the entire first half on Ozzie, just as you cannot give him all the credit for the entire second half. This team has been beyond streaky. Has Ozzie made bad on-field decisions this season? Absolutely.what manager hasn't? Has Ozzie made the right decisions this year, only to have usually reliabe players fail horribly? Absolutely, show me a team that hasn't happened to. The result is love/hate for Ozzie that has whipsawed as violently as the team's performance. As tired as I am of his truly idiotic rants, his feud with KW, his kids and all the other drama, he is the face of the franchise, and like it or not he keeps this team relevant in a town where the odds are always against that. How many other managers are nationally recognized by their first name alone? Ozzie sells tickets and draws national media attention--remembering that if you're the White Sox there is no such thing as bad publicity. He has certainly cost us some games--how many is for people smarter than me to figure out--but he also has his team back in a race that most of us considered a totally lost cause as recently as the ASB. I am not defending his inexplicable fondness for Kotsay or his part in management's inexplicable but collective decision to let Thome go. I'm just saying this team is still alive and actually showing more late-game resilience than we've seen in years. You can certainly blame Ozzie for the Sox trailing the Twins by 3.5 games, but then you gotta give him some of the credit for not trailing by 13.5, without Peavy and with an erratic Jenks. Oh, and speaking of managers we love to hate, "Gardy" is at the top of my list. He comes across as smug, arrogant and is hailed as a genius when in fact any of us could win with that lineup--even without Morneau and Nathan. And he plays dirty against us. I'd much rather beat on him than Ozzie. Now, could we please just get on with it and win another World Series? Damn. I love this post

  9. I figure at this point, watching what the Twins are doing as well as watching the wild card is appropriate. Tampa Bay 83-53 Chicago White Sox 77-60 (6.5 games back) Boston Red Sox 76-61 (7 games back) Toronto Blue Jays 71-66 (12.5 games back) at this moment the Red Sox are winning 6-2 over the Rays in Boston. http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gam...-boston-red-sox

  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) The top 1-AA team still doesn't have near the size or athleticism as a BCS conference team and Illinois should be able to run the ball all day against SIU with Leshoure. SIU can certainly win but I wouldn't count on it. I think the size and athleticism difference is a lot closer than you are willing to admit. Especially at SIU now, they have completely transformed into an upper echelon FCS team and a lot of FBS players transfer to SIU due to various reasons and excel.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) Please kill the last post. It's disgusting. Yuk. agreed. it gawn
  13. wtf. opposite of special
  14. Yuniesky needs to just pretend he is hitting against the Sox
  15. Come on Royals. Do something special here
  16. No quit in this team. They have had their bad moments this year, but never quit. Everyone is taking turns being the hero too
  17. It also is not the first time that LaRussa has had a personal problem with a player who then wants out as fast as possible
  18. Hurt, stop hyperbolizing. You dont like him, fine. Your opinion is not fact. Dont act as if you know my loyalty, and do not suggest that my post is typed incorrectly. Stop couching arguments. This s*** "If you don't understand this, you aren't paying attention to many ballgames." is what got you in trouble before. In short, stop right now.
  19. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) Common sense and attention to detail will tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ozzie Guillen has no clue how to manage a baseball team. Thats your opinion. He does stupid s***, surely, but he knows enough to be managing a baseball team. Im pretty sure he would be gone if he didnt. Of course, Im sure you and all of your common sense and attention to detail are next in line for a managerial position in the bigs
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Don't know much about hitting do you? I gotta agree with DA here, what you are saying is pretty hyperbolic. In case you didnt notice, Konerko has been having an MVP season all year, and only 3 games Manny has been in the lineup. Pauly has been working the count all year. Plus, lets not forget some of the past great hitters that have put on a White Sox uniform and have had great strings of at bats like Ordonez, Lee, Belle and also play the mental game with pitchers. Manny looks good, but lets not get crazy here. He has hit a few gork shots and a nice oppo double
  21. You know what sucks, everytime a Sox batter is hit, the Sox are warned. Every damn time. Umps know Ozzie wont shy away from retaliation, so they take it away from him altogether. That just really sucks.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) Beekman? f*** man, how bad do you have to suck to get drafted by the Bears for OL and then get cut? Apparently Tice isnt a fan because he is an undersized lineman
  23. WR Juaquin Iglesias, DT Jarron Gilbert, LB Tim Shah, OT Josh Beekman, S Al Afalava, DB Cornelius Brown, QB Dan Lefevour, Woodny Turenne, Quentin Scott and Aaron Webster, linebackers Kevin Malast and Kelvin Smith, center Tim Walter, fullback Eddie Williams, wide reciever Freddie Barnes, and defensive end Mick Williams also were waived. Also, Tight end Richard Angulo's contract was terminated There is a whole bunch of Angelo AND Smith fail in there. Lovie was a big fan of Afalava IIRC
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) How's weather looking in Beantown? Good http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USMA0046
