  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) 1.) The article called him a beloved figure in the city of Chicago. He's a veteran trusted reporter. And you say I have the blinders on?? The guy with the pen in his hand backs me. 2.) That story has BS all over it. He'd have one of his people call the Cubs to say he's interested. oooooooh i see. must be 100 percent true since Cowley said it and he has a pen in his hand. Say, did you ever hear about this veteran trusted reporter getting banned from voting on the end of season rewards because he deliberately voted wrong so that the award winners would be different? If he is so trusted, why did his own peers suspend him? strange. I now have a pen in my hand. whatever I say is now true. I am going to write "The Sox will sign Albert Pujols" and it must be true now edit: I just looked at Joe Cowleys wikipedia page and found this "On 10/09/2008 Cowley and wife Brent Lillibridge married in middle earth in front of members of the Pittsburgh Steelers."
  2. Greg, you define the term "with blinders on". unreal
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) As usual I agree with Dick Allen. This is probably what will happen. I think Jerry's backing the wrong guy in Kenny, though. It really seems like a KW-Ozzie showdown and Reinsdorf really can't afford to have another year with the 2 at each other's throats and unable to work together. Reinsdorf could meet with the two of them after offering Oz an extension and demand that they behave. But he's not dumb. It appears to be too late for that to have a chance at succeeding. s***, the 2 of them probably will flat out tell Jerry they can't work together. Ozzie obviously thinks Kenny is incompetent and looks down on him since he was a s***ty ballplayer. Meanwhile Kenny if you read Cowley wants nothing to do with Ozzie, to just never be near him. I would think what Dick Allen said is the likely scenario. Jerry knows Ozzie has a great landing spot in Florida. Oz will be let go and hook on with Florida (it may be embarrassing timing for a few weeks however; they'll probably call it a resignation to pursue other opportunities) and I bet Jerry will actually will change Kenny's job and keep him in the organization. It'll be a new GM and new manager rather than simply letting KW win this battle. LaRussa for manager and LaRussa picks the GM Hope this works. Only way I see KW and Oz returning is they assure Jerry of a truce, but how can Jerry trust that? If 2 people hate each other, they really can't work together. Only way to exist is to avoid each other, which the GM and manager can't do. yeaaaaaaahNo
  4. I dont believe this quote at all from Ozzie
  5. I know Hawk wouldnt like Dave Duncan being with the Sox. He is not fond of him at all
  6. I wish Frank Thomas would be GM. He is the best player the Sox ever had. He knows stuff QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Ozzie is making this a public showdown. If he really wants to stay here, I think he's making a huge mistake. As people say its a lot easier to can a manager than the players, its also easier to can a manager than a GM if you consider yours competent which I believe JR does. Hahn can't get the GM job while Ozzie is managing because Oney called Hahn names and believes you need to play the game professionally (I suppose like he did) to know the game and have the Guillen family's respect. I'm sure that's not Oney's original thought. He got it from his dad. There's enough that has gone down where one of them probably has to go. I'm betting JR sticks with KW. He knows Ozzie will probably land in Florida with a longer committment and raise. He can probably have LaRussa back. Duncan comes with LaRussa, Cooper heads to Miami. This would make me very sad
  7. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) @Kyyle, since you say you watch plenty of bulls games, I am just curious that on what ground is Rose a great playmaker, because so far, you haven't prove why he should be consider one. Because he is the one guy that could single-handedly carry that team the past two years with lackluster talent surrounding him. His first year, he was all drive to the hole, no midrange or 3 point shot. He worked on the midrange first, and increased his scoring 4 points a game. I am willing to bet that his 3 point shot is vastly improved seeing how all that was talked about was how he worked on it all summer long. His assists per game isnt shameful at 6, and we have seen flashes of his court vision being superb, it isnt consistent but it is there. I really think that when you put some talent around him that can shoot and defend, Rose will show you the playmaker that he is. Like I said, you have your opinion, I have mine. Whatever the hell usage is, ok whatever
  8. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) i am sorry for misquoting you, you said that some people think was his weakness. but if i were to get an objective opinion from either bulls fans, or espn writers on Rose's game, I would go with ESPN. After all, why would ESPN be biased against Rose? So all the people who said Rose is a not a great playmaker is biased against Rose, except those people from Chicago. great argument. I said he gets better at what people point out are his weaknesses, I didnt specify anything. Like I said before, I will disagree with you and leave it at that. Anyone who says that Rose could learn a thing or two from Russell Westbrook doesnt need much prodding to get into a Rose/Playmaker argument
  9. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) I am well aware that you are a bulls fan, and so am I. but if you watch the game objectively, you will see Rose in terms of playmaking ability is along the lines of Jennings or Evans, decent but not great. If you think Rose is a great playmaker, then what is Rondo, CP3, Dwill and others? Taking nothing away from him, he is a great player, just not a great playmaker. Like you said, passing is his weakness, just accept that. Please go ahead, and read articles from ESPN, Foxsports, or anything like that, and get objective opinions from other writers and fans. Where did I say that passing is his weakness? And if you think ESPN is objective then I have some oceanfront property in Iowa you may be interested in
  10. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) I will have to disagree here. From all the bulls games i watched over the past two years (believe me, I watch plenty) and the FIBA games i watched this past month, Rose is clearly not a great playmaker. He is decent but not great. Most of his assists come from dishing to open shooters who would hit the shot or simple passes in transition that lead to easy layups. Rarely do you see him driving into the lane and passing off to someone else for the score, nor do you see him make those tough passes through tight spaces that lead to easy score. he just doesn't court vision of CP3, dwill, nash, kidd, rondo and even westbrook. If you watch guys like Rondo, CP3 and nash run the point and compare it to Rose, it's a whole new world. I do think that Rose is a top 3 or 4 pg right now because he has the unique combination of scoring, athleticism and decent playmaking ability. But come on, you have to accept the fact that he is only a decent play maker RIGHT NOW, not a great one. No I dont. I really disagree with you here, and I will leave it at that. I have watched pretty much all of the Bulls games the past two years myself, and clearly you are watching something else.
  11. Sqwert, I am honestly disappointed in the Sox fanbase inability to recognize your outright sarcasm
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) Florida will fall in love with Ozzie Guillen. He is a rising star; already has one WS title before 50. Should get many more here, but too bad much of the fan base could not just accept the fact he knows what he's doing. LOL
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Criticism? I don't think so. Rose is clearly not a great playmaker nor a three point shooter, we are well aware of that, so just stating the obvious right there. All I am saying is pairing him with a dominant scorer in the form of Melo might not be a better fit than pairing with a shooter. just like people who said rose and wade will not make a good backcourt, pure analysis Actually I think you are clearly stating your opinion, as I think he is a dynamic playmaker and every game he seems to get better at what people point out as his weaknesses.
  14. According to Jim Caple, Derek Jeter is the 6th best hitter in baseball because he has scored the 6th most amount of runs, deadspin breaks it down
  15. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) personally, i am a little hesitant to trade for Carmelo after seeing how poorly Rose played with a dominant scorer on the team like Durant. Rose needs to take his shots to be effective and is not a great playmaker, and does not have the 3 point shooting to compliment Carmelo. Now, maybe the poor performance was a fluke or it had something to do with the FIBA style, but I am not sure if pairing Rose with Carmelo would be a better fit than having Rose and Noah. LOL why are you judging Rose so harshly from watching the FIBA games? You have been just killing him all summer long and it really is without merit, its just the FIBA games, those games are exhibition games for NBA players
  16. Maybe they will bite if we throw in Scalabrine

  18. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) My apologies for comin off preachy. I just can't understand the Larussa2011 love. The man is around 70. 70! How is that upgrading for the future? I don't see fire n passion, I only see a corpse manager. Why not offer Bobby Cox 3rd base coach; he's available too. How bout sticking with both Ozzie and Kenny and just tweaking the roster instead? They've both proven they can win the big one. The 2005 team is a prime example of players collectively having career years- why is that never to Ozzie's credit, getting a lackluster group to overachieve? Could Bevington have coasted to a title with that team as well? Not sure. And all you Ozzie haters, don't forget you have to beat out the cubs for a manager as well now. Tough boat to be in; tough sell to the fans. Well I guess if we could pry George Brett away from the Royals..... Im gonna go ahead and guess that you quoted the wrong post

i have never read the Bond novels, but from reviews of the two Daniel Craig movies I have read a lot of people saying that he is the closest to the novel version of bond that there has been in film.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Get ready for the Buddy Bell era. Yuk. Highly doubtful. Why is it that you think the worst of this organization if Ozzie leaves? Its like you are wanting them to do bad because this, for lack of a better word, divorce is happening. It doesnt make sense, if you are a fan of the team you should want them to do well and understand that Ozzie has done a tremendous amount of PR damage to himself and damage to the relationship of the team that employs him through his own mouth and his sons mouth.

I disagree, I really enjoyed both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, I like the pace and tone of both movies. And I especially like that they took out the tongue in cheek hokiness that crept into the series at the end of the brosnan era
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) 1.) No way. When managers lose, they get fired. Ozzie has been a winner here. 2.) Florida will fall in love with Ozzie Guillen. He is a rising star; already has one WS title before 50. 1. Ozzie has had losing seasons, and he hasnt been fired. If he goes to Florida, my guess is it is because he wants to, not because KW cans him. However, if KW does fire him, given all the bulls*** ozzie and his family have pulled against this organization, much less KW, I wouldnt blame KW one bit. And if I were KW, I would hang a good portion of it on Oneys loudmouth. 2. I love how you have crowned Florida a winner with Ozzie. Like they did last year?
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Who cares? He didn't tell them to get drunk n drive. Hope you will be happy with our return to a revolving door of managers. Florida will be very happy with Ozzie Guillen. return of revolving doors? Im pretty sure if a change is made, KW will stick with who he picks
