QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Pitt's new HC already arrested. Still in jail, domestic abuse charges- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) He's not going to be without a job for long. No he wont. I dont know if he will be a HC immediately, I actually think he may step back into the DC role for a few years and build his name back up and then get a really good HC position. Who knows though, maybe Dallas makes a play.- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
John Foxx officially done with the Panthers after this season- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Managers have been traded in the past. Lou Pinella comes to mind immediately. Kind of a unique situation. Lou wanted to go home to Florida and Seattle wanted to be compensated for their manager. Its not like this happens frequently, or even much at all. To say with all certainty that all of those teams would gladly give up their manager for 5 years of a PROSPECT, no matter how highly touted, is hyperbolic at the very least.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
i think ozzie should denounce what Oney said, not Oney. Im not asking the guy to say Oney isnt his son anymore, I just would like Ozzie to do something to the effect of releasing a statement saying he doesnt agree with Oneys decision to attack Jenks in that manner.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) I think everyone is in agreement that Oney is a moron. Quite simply, I think his actions were that of an idiot that didnt put much thought into his actions. Frankly I think alot of the ways people use social media these days is completely irrational. With that said, I'm not sure that Ozzie should be fire because his grown up offspring posted something on twitter. If you can fire a coach or manager because their family does something embarrassing, I expect Rex Ryan to be canned in the next few weeks. Rex Ryans foot fetish has nothing to do with the Jets. Twice Oney has taken to twitter and has made embarrassing situations for the White Sox and his father. I dont expect Ozzie to be fired, but at some point you would think that he would go to his son and ask him to stop this nonsense- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) At what age do you no longer have responsibility for your children's actions? when your childrens actions are a direct result of your job and the people within it, you are responsible for them.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) I know they've hung out quite a bit first hand. Thats what I am referring to. If I didnt ditch an old cell phone I could show you a picture of a few members of the pen with Oney and Oz Jr. Rock, what does this have to do with anything? You rub elbows with them so Im to believe you when you tell me that Bobby told Oney all of his personal business? Come on. regardless of how he got his info, he shouldnt of said it. The end- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) That they hung out quite a bit, yes 100% I know it to be true. Witnessed it first hand. This is where these arguments devolve. Im done, Ozzie isnt responsible for what Oney said, but he is responsible for his team. Private info was released, how it was acquired is irrelevant. Oney was a moron for turning it personal instead of keeping it on the professional level- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Thats not what happened. Oney knows this stuff first hand, he's been close to Bobby for years. I was responding to what Princess dyes scenario presented. And I agree with Sqwert, you are acting like you know this family. Your insider knowledge only goes so far- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
i think at the very least Ozzie should come out and say that he does not agree with his son releasing privileged information. You guys are right, Oney is an adult and Ozzie is past the point of punishing his child. But at the same time Ozzie has to own up to the fact that information was put in the public that should not have been, and Ozzie may or may not be responsible for that information getting to Oney, but he is Oneys father and sometimes parents have to apologize for their kids doing dumb things, no matter how old they are- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) If I tell my boss something private, it's on me to know that could tell his wife, he could tell his family in some moment. He could tell anyone in a drunken moment. Maybe an unfair parallel, but I guess I just have some trouble with the idea the manager has to be a mental health professional. Obviously he can be. But there are managers/coaches you just know not to approach with that stuff. Scott Skiles in the NBA comes to mind. Players aren't trusting him with deep personal things. He's an x's and o's guy exclusively. Maybe that holds Skiles back from being the idea NBA coach. I don't know. I'm sure there are many like him. Maybe Ozzie becomes that now, and maybe it's not some awful thing. You think if you told your boss that you had a problem drinking and you were going into rehab, and then your bosses Son went on twitter( or any social networking site in which coworkers could see what he said) and he put you on blast that it wouldnt be an HR nightmare that could result in your boss getting fired? I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that my boss would be fired on the spot.- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
Has there been any talk of Hanie getting first team reps this week? And most of the talk has been of players like Cutler, Forte, Urlacher, Briggs getting time off. What happens to Tillman, Jennings, Chris Harris, Major Wright? Do they stay in? They arent the best DB group in the league, but I think we all can agree that the dropoff from that group is pretty steep- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
I keep reading people mentioning "well the bears stayed healthy this year" as if it is something to hold against them. And they did lose their starting QB for 2 games, one pretty important(giants, lets face it, Cutler wasnt there after the second sack) and Carolina. The Bears held up against an inferior team in Carolina and got whipped against the Giants. The Packers held their own against NE but lost, and did not take advantage of a weaker opponent in the Lions. Right now the Bears have managed their season the way they should, there is nothing wrong with it.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) Who cares? I do if it affects the clubhouse going forward. he doesnt care because it would mean he would have to speak ill of two of his favorite people. Obviously the reaction of this thread shows that people care.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
i applaud dan bernsteins interview of Oney. he clearly could not make the distinction from damaging his fathers reputation within the clubhouse and speaking his own opinion, and his only true defense was that it was only his opinion. unfortunately i am fairly sure this is not the last we will hear from a Mr Oney Guillen- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
Any way you paint it Ozzie looks incredibly bad and he has not said a word. And the unfortunate thing for Ozzie is that this is his personality trait shining through in Oney, "always say whats on your mind" QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) You do not know that Ozzie told these things to Oney. It is just as likely that Oney and Jenks partied together. For everyone that thinks Guillen will lose credabiltiy on this, I really do not think that managers and players are really that intimate in one anothers personal lives. yeah, but sometimes they are, and Jenks is the example we are working off here.- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) I'm still on the other side on this one, and you and I are obviously going to disagree. But in the sense of being another player in that locker room...let's say I'm Matt Thornton or JJ Putz. Bobby Jenks has been doing things in his personal life that have affected his performance on the field. He's blowing games that I think I could finish. I'm not getting my shot to close because Ozzie sticks with him. I keep my mouth shut despite the fact that Bobby's personal issues are boiling over on to the field and we're losing games because of it. My career is being hurt because of the number of chances that Ozzie is giving Jenks. And then Jenks comes out and attacks Ozzie's use of the bullpen? I'd want to be the one ripping him publicly. You can do the same game with any of the other players...every one of them is keeping his mouth shut about Bobby's issues...they're losing games because of it...and Bobby has the audacity to complain about how he was being used and demand even more of a free ride? You guys can look at it and say that this would build a wall up between Ozzie and his players, I see the opposite. If I were on that team, I'd respect him a lot more if I know that there's only so far that he can be pushed. Yeah, but Ozzie isnt the one taking the shots here, Oney is. Which looks like Ozzie is coming home and blabbing about his players issues, and in turn those family members are airing out the dirty laundry in a misguided attempt at defending Ozzie. All this does is make Ozzie look like a big mouth who cannot be trusted with any private issues, and it is even worse because Oney originally started this crusade last season.- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) Didn't Cedric Benson go out early in that game too? voluntarily- Bobby Jenks to the Red Sox
while the Oney stuff is pretty funny, kind of ironic that the guy is going all "you talk s*** about the team you were with you are a coward". Ummmm, what happened when Oney lost his video review job? Pretty sure he went scorched earth on KW and the Sox.- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
Its tough being a lame duck coach, not many of them last far beyond a GM/Team President change. To be honest with you I was surprised Holmgren kept him this year, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. It is an assessment year for Holmgren, he can determine which players stay and which players get moved/cut and replaced through FA and the draft. Nobody thought the Browns had a chance to do anything this year, so anything positive is gravy. So Holmgren doesnt have the problem of his guy mucking through the previous regimes disaster during this season and he can let Mangini fall on the ax when it is time to take the next step and then hire the coach he feels can bring the team to the next level. - 2011 Music Thread
