QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 09:07 AM) Here's my thing...Why are people acting surprised? We knew going in this team had a below average offensive line and no legitimate wideouts. Did people really think Cutler was THAT good? That's why I was never on board with the "give 'em whatever they want for Cutler" train. With that said, I'm not saying we shouldn't have made the trade. But we're paying the price now. And without any picks in the first three rounds in next year's draft, it's going to be very difficult to address these obvious flaws. People want to run Turner out of here. I'd rather see Angelo go. Years and years of terrible drafting (in particular our 1st round picks) has killed us. I want to see Angelo, Turner, and Lovie go. And coming from me, that is saying a lot.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 08:02 AM) The Jay Cutler ass kissing is definitely getting annoying. He's no doubt been part of the problem. Im not absolving him of all blame at all. he has definitely regressed, and looks totally gunshy out there. However, I feel like I am watching "how the bears destroyed Rex Grossmans career and soul, Part 2". No O line to protect him, no recievers that can go out and make a play, predictable gamecalling, putting the QB in constant 3rd and long situations, then lets restrict the quarterback and force him into being a "game manager" I know he missed those deeps balls, I am pissed about it too. I just see a guy who is totally losing confidence in what is going on around him, and that really bothers me

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) Look at his stats, he hasn't been that inaccurate outside of today. There's a bunch of reasons why he has 18 INTs... not all of them have to do with him. Today he looked rattled because he had to keep backing up to get away from blitzers, and you could tell he was trying to be conservative because he was worried about the week before and all those INTs. Mentally he's just all over the place right now. Also, Ron Turner kind of sets him up to fail (awaiting inevitable "you are a Cutler apologist" reply) Im with you 100 percent. It seems like Turner is anti-momentum when it comes to dealing with Cutler. if they make a nice play or have a big pass, inevitably it is run run pass on the next series, and the next thing you know Cutler is at 3rd and 11 and he is forcing it.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) A lot of negative comments about the field quality. (Parks Dept, you hearing this?) They dont care. Never have, never will. Thats why I said earlier this year that I would be for getting field turf, even though I hate artificial grass. This field is complete s***

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) I totally agree with this. It's like he's just waiting for Cutler to throw against a nickel package. Thats where I lay the blame in San Francisco too. The playcalling in the red zone is borderline criminal, you can consistently see the opposing defense call out the play that is coming and just stuff it right down the bears throats.

QUOTE (Ranger @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) I think one of my favorite classics is the following exchange: caller: "Why did Ozzie bring in _______ to pitch in the 8th." me: "OK. Who would you rather have out there?" caller: "Anybody!" me: "Such as?" caller: "It doesn't matter! ANYBODY!" No real better solution, just "somebody else" should have been used. The old anybody-is-better-than-what-we-have/used argument. You can also replace the first line in that exchange with "They need to send ______'s ass down to Charlotte and bring up somebody else." Those two calls are interchangeable. It's the notion that it can't any worse than it is currently. But what they don't understand is that, yes, it most certainly could always be worse. haha, I have heard this exchange many times with you.

Is it me or does Turner put Cutler in the absolute worst situations possible in the redzone? Everytime they reach the red zone, its a run to the middle, a swing pass to the flat, and the next thing you know its 3rd and 11 and Cutler is forcing throws.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 22, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) I think its probably someone like Justin Speier, or Eric Gagne or Paul LoDuca. oh yuck. Please none of these 3

I just avoid all concessions when i go to movies anymore. It really is absolutely ridiculous the amount they charge you for the quality of food you recieve(and I am talking hot food like hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, nachos as well as the fountain drinks, which apparently all movie theatres agreed no longer need carbonation and require double the syrup....for every flavor and brand). Going to a movie seems just as expensive as going to a baseball game.

Salukis hanging tough with UNLV, leading 37-34 at the half. I am only listening to the webcast of the game, but Teague sounds like he is going to be very solid. I wish Evans could stop with the silly fouls so he could stay in the game longer, but thats on him. Tony Freeman seems like he wants to take this game on his shoulders -
Jenks not happy with Guillen commenting about his weight

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) With your title, I thought that Oz was asking Jenks to wear a bra. Na, just giving credit to the author, bra -
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox21.article I dont have sympathy for Jenks here. He has a job that requires him to stay in some sort of shape, and all of the little nicks and knocks that bugged him this year, including the kidney stones, seemed to revolve around his poor overall fitness. Ozzie really didnt said anything different that he hasnt said in the past, I dont know why Bobby feels like he is being scapegoated now.

QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Some of the older Saluki alumni will remember La Roma's pizza. I thought it was the best!!!!!! I was more a fan of their 32oz 3 dollar beers then I was of their slices. The slices werent bad, but usually when I was out on the strip I was thirsty more than hungry.

Castro had a pretty good first few seasons at rookie ball and A ball, with a short spell in AA. He is getting all of the hype right now because he started off the AFL on an absolute tear(In his first six AFL games (five starts), Castro hit .522 (12-for-23)), so now everybody knows who he is.

Did anyone see the 2004 Weis hiring press conference that NBC aired at the end of the game? Weis goes "you guys have me standing here because you are 6-5. That is not good enough for you. That is not good enough for the fans. That is not good enough for Notre Dame. And that is certainly not good enough for me."(not verbatim) Pretty funny stuff -
QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) Wise Guys is awesome when you're drunk and I think I have a slice every weekend. But cmon, DiMaggios is the best pizza in C'dale hands down. Ummmm, who? Is that new within the last 4 years? Because when on my extended vacation in Carbondale I cannot recall DiMaggios

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) I guess to each his own. I find this story somewhat newsworthy (not entertaining): Ozzie has talked to Vizquel and KW won't clue Ozzie in to whether or not they will sign him. It lets us know a little about how they are currently operating, and also that KW considers Ozzie a leak (I guess no surprise because he's always talking). Rick Hahn and KW won't tell you anything about negotiations until after the fact, so anything they have to say would be of the "We're always on the lookout for a player of Omar Vizquel's caliber" variety. When they say something factual, it will be "We signed him." I cant remember a time that a GM was talking about a player during negotiations or before that player was even courted or signed. It may be known that X team is negotiating with Y player, but you never heard Brian Cashman come out and say "Yeah, we threw 180 million at CC yesterday, lets see what happens". In other words, its always after the fact

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) Does anyone have a friend they would change jobs to work with? Anyone they would take their second, third, or fourth place job pick for? Any friend so great they would take a pay cut to work with? How about working with someone because they are also white, Asian, black, etc.? I just never get the "lets get an albino so more albinos will work for us" thinking. When has that ever really happened? With the Sox with Contreras and El Duque(and to a later effect, Alexei and Viciedo), it happened. IIRC Iguchi was comfortable coming to the Sox because of Shingo. Its not a blanket statement, but certain players recently have gone to teams where they feel more comfortable because their countrymen are on that team, and it has happened a few times with the Sox.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) Oh man, Quattros.....I love the deep dish stuff you mentioned you don't care for, but Quattros will always have a special place in my heart. I can't really describe why, but they do for the pan pizza what Pizza Hut could never imagine... And as long as we are talking about Carbondale food classics, I could go for some Wise Guys as well... Of all of the other pizza places in Carbondale, my order of top 4 would be Quatros, Paglaia's, Italian Village, and then Wise Guys. Wise guys had the awesome 20 inch pizza, but when you are s***-hammered drunk that pizza just isnt as good as you thought it was. Other places I absolutely loved were the Bubble Tea place, Don Taco, and El Greco.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 09:00 AM) He'd have to be one of those guys still available after the first month or so of free agency, and it would have to be a 1 year deal at the White Sox value.... so what you are saying is "it aint happenin" Matsui is probably going to want more than a 1 year deal
-
I dunno guys, I still miss Quatros. and I worked there, you would think I would never want it again. Lou's just doesnt do it for me, nor to Giordianos, or Ginos. Every other "chicago" food I love(hotdogs, Italian beef, etc), but deep dish is just "meh" for me.
