  1. QUOTE (Ranger @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) At 3rd base? Yes. I'm not talking Gold Glover or anything, but he's probably better and more comfortable over there than Beckham is. However, Beckham is the superior hitter. I agree with you right now. However if Beckham had another full year(2010) at 3rd, I think he would far surpass anything Teahen could do.
  2. oh look, Cowley said so. his sources are so quick
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Full Black Friday Video game details: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=240530 Yeah, and Gamestop is awful. Don't know why anyone would buy there. used games and console stuff(wiimotes, etc) is really one of the only reason I go there
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) Am I missing something? Aren't these the standard prices? I believe they're sold for less everyday at Amazon with free shipping. gamestop is so messed up. The counter guy couldnt tell me what games were eligable for trade in for the new SMB Wii 3 weeks ago. Their employees suck too. I dont need some kid acting like he is too good to shoot the s*** about a system becuase he works at a f***ing gamestop.
  5. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) I don't recall anything ridiculous at our park but I did see something crazy at Wrigley a long time ago. There was a fight that broke out on the ramps going down after the game. Started between a cubs fan and mets fan who threw a beer. All of a sudden a whole bunch of people were fighting At one point I hear someone yell "throw him over". Then I saw some people lift a guy over the railing and toss him down and he landed in the seats below with a thud. He must have fell at least 50 feet. Eventually another guy got tossed over the side. I think the guys ended up paralyzed. It was a really scary moment. If I recall correctly the guys that got thrown over weren't even in the fight, they were trying to break it up. I was right in the middle of it but only about 10 years old. If that happened and some dude got paralyzed then I am amazed that this story isnt well known. Stuff like that doesnt escape the press easily, even if it was a long time ago
  6. The New York Knicks to Allen Iverson, "Not Interested"
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) they could have a battery of Joe Table and Hank White....i like it! or we could have a Joe Table battery of Omar Vizquel.
  8. haha http://deadspin.com/5409344/tim-lincecum-i...ng-winner-again that boy is baked
  9. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) No, actually he is making a valid point, that I think needs to be stressed. Players are bad because they are bad, not because of some inane coaching argument. I'm already not looking forward to the "Alex Rios sucks I blame Walker" threads that are headed our way in 2010. This point has been stressed so much it is broken. It is not valid, now it is dragging into threads that it doesnt need to be for no reason other than to cause another argument over subject matter not pertaining to the thread subject. Just like the needless Rudy Jaramillo reference in the Adrian Gonzalez thread in Diamond Talk.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) I guarantee we'll hear one thing from KW: "I've had my eye on Omar for a long time" well yeah, he wanted him before he signed with San Fran, that was the beginning of the Bruce Levine carpetbombing "i stake my reputation on it" stuff
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) God, i hope Nix sticks around. I've been tooting his horn for so long, i see so much potential left in him, i would of loved to of seen what he could have done off the bench for us this year. this post took a lot longer than I expected
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) Why does this mean Nix is gone for sure? Its a numbers game. He is being squeezed out. Although its still early in the offseason, anything can happen

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) I love that NEW MOON is getting ripped in reviews, but won't stop it from having it make a billion dollars and won't stop the teen girls from thinking it is great. my neice said the funniest thing after Twilight came out. I was like "How was the movie?" and she goes "It was the best movie I have ever seen. There was a standing ovation before and after the movie". Im like " uuuuuuu what? Ok" My wife said she didnt like it when she watched it with my daughter, and my daughter was so offended. She says "Mom has gots no style in movies!"
  14. I was at a game in the old park in 1990, there was a rain delay and we were walking around to get some hot dogs and all the sudden the crowd is going crazy. I look out and there is 2 or 3 guys on the field doing the slip and slide. The funniest part was the security just let them go at it for a good 5 minutes before escorting them out
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 07:15 AM) There was a scout on ESPN about a month ago talking about Allen. He didn't believe Allen was anywhere near ready to be a regular in the majors and questioned if he ever would be, of course scouts have been wrong like everyone else, but there are more signs that Allen isn't ready to contribute than there are signs he is. As for the 100 ABs, if he had the 100 ABs with the White Sox and did the same thing, it would be because of Greg Walker, at least on this board. Dick, it is a long offseason. Please leave your personal hangups at the door as much as possible, your constant repitition of this petty argument is just childish at this point.
  16. Salmons has been straight up "Clank" all year. If he doesnt get it in gear then teams are going to just focus on stopping Rose
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-heirdog+Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:35 PM-->QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin-->If the Rangers are willing to give up that much for Eaton and Otsuka, we should be able to get Josh Rupe (starter in '07), CJ Wilson (left out of the bullpen in '06) and Ian Kinsler (utility 2B/SS in '07 when we let Ozuna walk) for Jon Garland. Kinsler can take over for Tadahito in '08 or battle it out with Getz if he is ready. I puke at that offer. That would be a terrible deal, imo. LMAO Jas, would you still puke at that deal considering Kinsler was the throw in?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) I know this is a message board. But is it really necessary to start a thread about every White Sox "rumor", no matter how ridiculous, that pops up on the net or in the papers? Given the time of year there really isnt much else to do. These unnecessary threads have spawned some of the best talk in PHT in quite some time.
  19. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) 37 years old $45M and 3 years remaining on deal 88 ERA+, 1.515 WHIP and 5.1 K/9 in 2009 The Sox already have 5 legitimate starting pitchers There is no in house replacement for Konerko Even if you threw in Linebrink that's only $22.5M ($12M for Konerko, $10.5M for Linebrink) on the White Sox's end. The Sox already have a ton of money locked up for 2010 and will need plenty of room under the budget to sign their arb eligible players, as it stands now there are 6 of them. How exactly is this a good fit? This is the kind of rumor that got Soxtalk labeled as trekkie turned bloggers, bra
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) True, but Lebron James physically/athletically seems to be the exception to the rule as well I agree, but there have been more than a few basketball players that have attempted to cross over into the NFL and have been unsuccessful. Personally I think LeBron could do it if he went all out for it. It would be crazy to see someone like Ray Lewis light him up though, LeBron wouldnt be dancing around feeling proud of himself nearly as much as he does now.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) Antonio Gates didn't play any football in college, and he seemed to adjust to the NFL as a TE pretty well One would think that he would be the exception rather than the rule
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 06:17 AM) You'd be amazed at how much mainstream press that got down here also. Quite sad really. Yeah I was reading that they ate that up and had no idea it was a work. Something is seriously wrong when you are believing Hulk and Flair are really blowing up at a press conference, lol
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Given the difference in talent level and seeding, I completely disagree with this. Had we beat SIU it would have been far from ho-hum IMO. I would have been shocked. Justin would have been swimming in alcohol and depression. He wouldn't have talked to me for years. Had SIU won, business as usual as that's what was supposed to happen. That SIU team was legit and didn't need some in-state game to prove anything. Actually, they would have had almost nothing to gain in the game, really. The Kansas game was where they had something to gain. And I feel that even in a loss, they gained a ton. is it any different now?
  24. We could have broken it.....if Kalapse believed it.
