QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) You just knew this would happen. It'd be impossible for Contreras to have a perfect inning. This better be the last we see him this afternoon. Get Masset in, Ozzie. fixed

Favre to the Jets
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 08:30 AM) Yeah but the Bears arent really in the position to give him alot. He asked for one reason. I gave it to him. Besides, JA always seems to magically find money to throw at players he really wants, and keep it within the cap

2008 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) Greg Maddux, with a legitimate steal of 2B last night, became the oldest pitcher in ML history to steal a base. For some reason I just thought of Doug Flutie with the drop kick a few years ago. Two older players in their respective sports, setting records that you wouldnt really expect from them. Thats good stuff

Favre to the Jets
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) I'd like a Bear fan to give me a legitimate reason why Favre would come here. The offense placed around him would be perhaps the worst in the NFL outside of obviously Favre himself, and he could not win a Super Bowl here. Plus, he's have a PATHETIC offensive coordinator and a head coach that is all about defense, with a GM that couldn't recognize offensive talent if it bit him in the ass. I have to call bulls*** on this pipe dream, although it would be funny to see. Money

Films Thread
Two movies i have never seen before that I watched this weekend just by flipping through my cable package: The Laughing Policeman (1973) Walter Mathau, Bruce Dern, and Louis Gossett Jr were in this movie, about a few cops chasing after a mass murderer. I expected some form of comedy, but this was anything but. Lots of racism brought up as Dern's character is a complete dipstick and pisses everyone off repeatedly, and Mathau doesnt really say much to him. I am indifferent to this movie, it was kind of strange. The Jacket (2007) Adrien Brody, Kiera Knightley, Kris Kristoferson and Jennifer Jason Leigh star in this movie, and I was really impressed with Brody. He plays a Gulf war vet in 1992 who gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets blamed for something pretty awful, which gets him put in a mental hospital run by Kristoferson and where Leigh works. The way to cure people like Brody is to pump them full of drugss, put them in a straight jacket, and slide them in a morgue drawer for a night. this treatment causes Brody to be transported into 2007 where he finds out that he is dead, and dies in 1993, so he wants to find out how. I loved this movie, I really did. Brody was very impressive, I really felt for his character

Wii Fit
Steff, I was in Gamestop yesterday and they told me that shipments of Wii Fit are coming every other week. The Gamestop I was at (Roselle and Golf Rd, Schaumburg) had a copy there, I believe. The guy told me he was pretty sure he had it, but he didnt go get one and show it to me, so i am not 100 percent sure. Now the Wii console, not sure about that.

Whiffle Ball
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Also we played the s*** out of kickball in my back yard. Anyone else have their school outlaw Red Rover? I think a lot of schools did this because kids were breaking wrists and arms. Kind of like how the game chubby bunny was outlawed. It sucks when stuff like that happens, because I had a great time playing games like that, but as the title of the thread suggests, people are sue happy anymore. Did any of you guys used to play baseball in the backyard with a tennis ball and a wiffle ball bat? We used to use the red "fat" bat as the power bat, and the yellow skinny "hard" bat as the contact bat. We would take the bats and wrap the sweet spot with duct tape to make it last as long as possible. I will tell you what, those red bats could really make the tennis ball take off because of the trampoline effect you would have hitting the ball. We never used gloves because it was a tennis ball, and because we could never field full teams(most of the time it was 4 on 4, sometimes even 2 on 2) we would have pitchers hand out, ghost runners, right field out, all the fun stuff. We would play all summer, until the first snow, and even sometimes with snow on the ground.
