QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) We need a banner going into this game. Something BIGTIME Peter Gabriel style. Maybe godzilla ozzie eating matsui or something. And that is the AFLAC random post of the day -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 08:33 AM) Too bad they had to sign Erubiel Durazo to a MLC a few days back. Man if he gets back to the form he had for Oakland a few seasons back, well the Twins are going to be good. Very good. Durazo is a guy who lives on the DL. He is kind of like Kerry Wood in the "When Healthy...." aspect comes in to it.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) When did playboy mansion start having fatty night... that black chick is way too fat to be playboy... Fat? What is your problem? What an ignorant thing to say

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) SIU shall beat some UNI ass. That is all. Only if the game is not played in Cedar Falls. Otherwise, the Salukis are doomed to lose a shootout 66-64, like every year. I swear NIU gets some 50 yard pass to the endzone to end the game every time against SIU.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Maybe the Sox can flip Garland to the Cubs for Wood, I'd like to see Coop try to work his magic with Kid K, we could have an Ace for our staff right there. i am positive this will draw a hilarious response.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) So he did piss in your Cheerios. The guy was automatic the first half of last year, and a lesser man would stay at home and wait for his checks in the mail, Dustin is actually trying to be proactive, i see nothing wrong with having some hope for him taking over mop up role for the sox. Hey, if he contributes, great. im not holding my breath. Im not putting my faith in his back, which had plenty of time to heal in the offseason. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) I agree. I think Bobby Thigpen has a better chance of resurrecting his career and helping the Sox this year than Hermanson. hey, looks like he pissed in your cheerios too!

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) We all know it. Fans, management, owners, etc. We don't have that same edge we did last year. It's not to say that we won't get it back, but ... we need to find the MOJO. This is eerily similiar to last year, didn't we get swept in the series before the ASB? I can't remember exactly. I was thinking the same thing, actually. The Sox got spanked in Oakland last year before the AS break, and came out all guns blazing in Cleveland after the AS break. The difference I see in Detroit this year and the Sox last year is that the Sox had an incredible amount of breathing room in the second half. If the Tigers slip at all, the Sox are right there behind them. the second half should be fun to watch.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Man Kyle you've been really down on Hermanson since the news of his possible return was announced. Did he piss in your Cheerios? Seriously though. Yesterday he pitched again in one inning threw 10 pitches 8 for strikes, 2 ground outs and 1 strike out. He then came back out for the next inning and preceded to walk two batters, but they were both on full counts, that makes two scoreless IP, and he has yet to give up a hit. Why wouldn't you want him coming back? were paying him for this year and were only asking for him to have a career norm year(4.21ERA & 1.36 WHIP). All this sox BP needs is a person for low leverage work that wont s*** the bed. Hmmm, didnt realize that I should put so much trust in a guy who gave pretty much nothing to the team the second half of last year due to injury, had the winter to rehab, and had the injury resurface after only a couple of ST outings. 2 Scoreless IP. Wowee, let me do a backflip at the great news. Wow, Politte was AWESOME in his rehab stint! That means he is good, right?/green

I dont like the quote "opening a spot for Dustin Hermanson". I would be very surprised if Hermanson had anything left to offer.

Zito signs with Boras in preparation for free agency
Kyyle23 replied to Phuck the Cubs's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Now the only question is the date on which the Yankees will sign him. Knowing Beane, Zito will probably be traded at the deadline to get some value back. I wonder how that will go. -

Zito just became the greatest free agent ever. -
QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) I answered that earlier: Good point, but Prior's decrease in velocity has to do with recovering from injury while Freddy's loss has to do with either A) loss in ability, or B ) stopped taking performance enhancers. Whether it's reason A or B, Prior is much more likely to recover his velocity and even if he doesn't, would still be the better pitcher of the two. Keep in mind, Prior currently has more velocity than Garcia. Ah, i see. More assertions and unproven points.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I still don't understand how Coop is going to magically heal Prior. Coop apparently has magic dust for everyone except White Sox pitchers
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) Your stats don't take into account how Prior would pitch over the rest of the season if he were off the Cubs and on the Sox. I think Prior could benefit from a change in scenery more than any other player in baseball, and the fact that he'd be coming to a winner with a great pitching coach means he'd be likely to perform better than Garcia would. Why is it that Cooper can turn Prior around but not Garcia? Seems like with you the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. And your assertion that Prior would pitch better if traded is unfounded and something that can not be taken into consideration. For all we know Prior could come to the Sox and throw one pitch and blow out his elbow, shoulder, calf muscle, etc.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) went and saw pirates 2 this afternoon. it was entertaining. definitely not as good as the first but a good theatre movie still. sucks how they ended it though. disney sees $$$ to be had and is cashing in. also, saw superman returns on wednesday. awesome. would put in my top 5 of all the recent comic book/super hero movies that have been out--behind batman begins, the 2 spideys & the punisher... it had a limited release yesterday (Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Austin & Toronto) and will be released to more markets on the 14, 28 & Aug 4th according to website... well yeah, they filmed PotC 2 and PotC 3 at the same time, so the story is already done. the ending was just a transition. Disney already is cashing in.

Why is it that Cooper can help the Cubs injury-problem pitchers, but he can not help the White Sox pitchers?

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) Cubs fans by far. They are horrible people. I hate their fans so much I just want to punch them in the face whenever I see one. irony at its finest, lol

I am wondering if Mark Shapiro makes it to next season. This was supposed to be the year when the Indians took the next step, and they have massively regressed and are now sliding back into rebuilding mode. This past offseason Shapiro clearly dropped the ball in replacing his departed players. I wonder which players are considered untouchable and which players are on the list to be moved ASAP?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Oh baby. Did anyone see the highlights from Baltimore versus Florida, where Cabrera was getting IBBed and swung at one of the balls, lined it into center and drove in a run? God, that's beautiful. I remember a player on the Brewers(Scott Fletcher?) did the same thing to the White Sox in the early 90's when Garner was running the team and trying to fight Hawk and Wimpy. I think the Brewers rallied from some large deficit during that game and that hit blew up the rally. Pat Listache was teh shizzle that year.
