  1. I cant believe that i used to think this guy was going to be a dominant pitcher at some point. What a head case. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2142576
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) I'm sure plenty of us have had these thoughts for a long time. This isn't knee-jerk. But nothing has been confirmed, and I think this thing sounds a little shady. Hopefully they can conduct the same test with another sample, because right now the same fingerpointing is going on.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Todd Bertuzzi? Todd Moore and Steve Bertuzzi. Get it Right.
  4. I just wasted an hour listening to Bruce babble about nothing. I want that time back goddamnit
  5. So let me get this straight, right now we are all believing the test results produced by a French magazine(the french despise Armstrong for winning the tour), and judge him right now on that? I thought you guys would have a little better sense than that. How is it that the director of the tour can attack Armstrong and in the same sentence admit that the Magazine has not produced the same documents that it printed in the paper? This test was not conducted by a member of the Tour, neither a representative from the tour or Armstrong's representatives were present. Seems like this story needs to be drawn out a little more before we declare this man guilty. Im not saying he isnt, but I am not picking up a pitchfork and torch just yet.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) He's got nothing better to do, you should get a response within the next few minutes. you never know
  7. I just emailed Dolgin about it, lets see how fast he gets back to us
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I refuse to be dragged into obsessive, non-stop, Ken Griffey, Jr. watching. I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE!! ok, you are just gonna deny it anyways. See-ya-later-goodbye.
  9. I heard Hawk change his tune too. It was very obvious.

All i know, is it was shaped like a twinkie, with the strangest looking hook on top. It always stood out to me, and when it was nailed by the tornado I was amazed at what happened to it.
  11. If anyone cares to let the author know how they feel, let me know what he says doug.miller@mlb.com
  12. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "highest velocity" something we can, like, measure quantitatively? Something that we can make a top 10 or top 20 list about while relying exclusively on empirical data without an ounce of opinion or homerism? I agree with you, but obviously we are wrong.

I have family in Springfield, and we would drive through Plainfield on the way to Route 51 south. We went through Plainfield the week after the tornado hit. It looked like a ghost town. I vividly remember a church that had a unique structure on the top, a large sort of hook on top. After the tornado hit, it looked like someone removed the "hook", picked it up and set it down about 50 feet away. Mother Nature can really make us look small when she tries.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Yet he still wont win a super bowl Whats that have to do with anything? he won a Superbowl with the Rams, he doesnt have to win one this year to prove anything.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Carlos Zambrano is the hardest throwing starter in baseball. Period. But he got bumped in favor of Prior. The whole context of the article is wrong, the guy isnt listing the top throwers (velocity-wise), he just pulled a bunch of names out of a hat.
  16. You have no argument from me there. During the game I said "If this was Yankees/Red Sox, this game would be on ESPN Classic TOMORROW." I stand by that statement.
  17. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb Personally, i think this list is a joke. If you want to ask if these are among the best pitchers out there, well that is one thing. But this list is saying that these pitchers throw the hardest, and which do you think throws the hardest. I dont want to sound like a homer, but Bobby Jenks should be on that list. Clemens still gets it up there, but Randy Johnson hasnt seen the other side of 95 MPH the entire year. Schilling? Come on, the guy still hasnt regained his velocity, he tops out at 94. There are so many names missing on this list its unbelieveable.
  18. If anyone wants to see this sort of thing in action, check out 311's DVD "Enlarged to Show Detail 2" In the bonus features, the band has the 1/2 hour bet with fans for front row seats and backstage passes. People were vomiting milk EVERYWHERE. One kid looked like he was gonna hold it down, and boom goes the dynamite(*snicker*).
  19. In like Flynn
  20. Another thing that could happen is if the Sox make the WS and Griffey is largely responsible, then he becomes a very valuable commodity after the season. They could unload him in the off-season to a team that practices in Florida, get some prospects(maybe even a Major leaguer) and everyone ends up happy. Alot of "ifs" in that statement, but we have nothing but "ifs" right now.
  21. I have heard the rest of the deal is worth either 42 million bucks or as high as 81 million bucks. So that would mean the Sox are asking the Reds to pick up 24.6 million or 48.6 million, both astronomical numbers considering what they would be getting back, and despite much of the money being deferred. If this is the case, i can understand the reds saying no. But I just dont want to believe that the Sox would ask them to pay that much, the highest figure i have seen in print is 15 million.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Here is the worrysome quote. So we are still far apart in money owed. So dont blame KW, Thanks Reinsdorf. And we would have to give up a good pitching prospect. I think the money is probably a lot of it. 60 percent is huge. I wouldnt expect them to pick that much up, but i would expect them to pick SOME of it up. Reinsdorf supposedly oked adding payroll, so we have to ask if: A) this is a smokescreen from Lindner because he wants to sell the team with Griffey part of the team, or B ) Is this Reinsdorf hedging about taking on more money than he wants, and trying to get the Reds to pay more of the contract. Given the current situation, Im more inclined to believe this is more Lindner than it is Reinsdorf. but who really knows? Probably only the Reds and White Sox front office.
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) yeah it would, I'd like to think the Griffey deal isn't dead, but I won't believe anything until I see him in a Sox uniform. I really believe right now that Griffey is all for it. Hopefully there will be some sort of pressure on the Cincinatti organization to get the deal done. I can see it in my head, now I want to see it on my TV. I wonder if this hinges on KW giving up one of his prized pitching prospects? On that thought, I also wonder if KW is willing to part with those prospects.
  24. For once i am really liking what I am seeing on the sports illustrated homepage. John Donovan and Tom Verducci are pushing for the Reds to trade Griffey. It would be nice for the media to do something for the Sox besides pigeonholing all of their fans as meth-head field rushing idiots for once.
  25. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) OK, but it took them a while to regroup and turn it back around, and besides CC Sabathia is anyone on that pitching staff home grown talent? Victor Martinez Jonny Peralta Travis Hafner Coco Crisp Grady Sizemore Casey Blake CC Sabathia That is all right? WHITE SOX home grown talent Mark Buehrle Jon Garland Neal Cotts Bobby Jenks Joe Crede Aaron Rowand Travis hafner came from Texas, and Sizemore came in the Colon trade. Are the Cleveland players supposed to be examples of homegrown talent? Now that i look at it, Garland Cotts AND Jenks arent homegrown talent from the White Sox either.
