It’s pretty weird. Back in the early 1800s in England they figured out how to grow rhubarb in the winter by putting the roots of previously grown plants into sheds that were filled with manure and protected from harsh winter weather, and they would hang candles from the ceiling. The rhubarb would expend all of its energy growing towards the candles and they would use the plant throughout the winter.
