  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 08:32 AM) This really does make a great case that Jay is a coach killer. If Jay's such a bad fit for what Trestman does, and Jay's such a bad fit for what Martz does, and he's such a bad fit for what Mike Tice does...at the very least it seems incredibly tough to find a coordinator that Jay is a good fit for. He really seems to be the second coming of Jeff George. I fought it for a while, but I can't anymore
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) Makes you wonder why the Vikings seemed to play a lot of man coverage yesterday Absolutely. Zimmer even talked about it in his post game, it was really stupid for them to play that scheme and to his credit Trestman exploited it. It's no coincidence that they started throwing deep balls all game

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 08:02 AM) Guess I was wrong. Thanksgiving time a year ago. It took until February/March to become a phenomenon here in China...with all the schoolchildren singing "Let It Go." I think I heard that song over the loudspeakers for 3-4 straight months. The Lego Movie then...against Big Hero Six? Lego movie, How to Train your dragon 2. And probably that last Studio Ghibli film(can't recall the name)
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) What we did most of this year was nothing but dink and dunk. If you think that is a strength for our QB, then well, to each their own, but that is not Jay's strength. Jay is not a good short range passer. His poor footwork makes him inconsistent on short reads but he tends to throw a much better intermediate and deep ball and when you use his legs and get him outside the pocket, he can be even better. We have literally done so little of that all year. I'm okay with short throws and am not saying you can't have any, but with what we have done most of the season, we have literally seen the same number of turnovers, etc (if not more) but not near the big plays and upside. They have started dinking and dunking because Jay has been getting his ass kicked by zone defenses. I don't think Trestman has done a good job at all, but come on now, you think he actually chose to stop moving the ball downfield in large chunks just because? Cutler has thrown so many costly interceptions this season and most of them are due to his bad accuracy within a zone defense, he can't hit his guys in the windows. That's why Jay wants big receivers who can go up and get it, he doesn't have to worry about ball placement.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) St. Vincent's a nice quiet little film. If you like Bill Murray at his ornery best (think Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino), this one's for you. Melissa McCarthy does well in an understated role, and Naomi Watts didn't need the fake Russian accent. I'm pretty sure this was the acting debut of the kid who plays Oliver...he does a commendable job and holds his own. This awards season is going to be a free-for-all. Foxcatcher's getting raves for Carell and Ruffalo's performances, but most non-critics who see it almost detest it and find it droll and mundane...when they're not being annoyed by Carell's heavy make-up to play DuPont. Interstellar's just not quite clicking to the point where it becomes a best picture candidate. Birdman's not being seen by enough to create a buzz. Gone Girl and Nightcrawler are GOOD films but not Academy worthy, although Ben Affleck seems to be getting overpraised these days to make up for when he was down in the dumps with J-Lo. Whiplash is attracting some fans...but enough to break out? Probably not. Big Hero 6 and Frozen seem poised to fight it out for best animated picture. Big Hero 6 and Frozen fall on the same voting year? That doesn't even seem possible, it seems like Frozen has been out forever
  6. Boozer really feeling it in Lakerland this season. Good lord QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 04:47 AM) 69-65? Pretty crazy considering the scoring we are used to seeing from those two teams. At least The Thunder have a good excuse

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 06:21 AM) I enjoyed Edge of Tomorrow. Didn't think it was great but recommend it. Kalapse is right. Tom Cruise knows how to pick movies. Too bad all people see is Scientology when they look at him. Emily Blunt is a great female action star. Surprised she hasn't been cast in the Marvel Universe yet. Pretty sure she was cast as Black Widow but had to back out due to another movie conflict

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) The first is classic. The 2nd looks awful and will wait to Redbox it. I keep reading it is exactly what you think it would be. Funny gags, bad story, if you love the first you will probably love this one
  10. What the f***. Either kneel the damn ball or go for it. Don't half ass it
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 01:14 PM) Except for the fumble hat he was lucky wasn't called and the unsportsmanslike conduct penalty, Cutler has been All Pro quality today. Sounds like our Cutler. "Except for the (insert terrible f***up), he has been great!"

  13. QUOTE (TRU @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 09:53 PM) Basically you have to agree to home runs at the coin toss or they are outs. Usually they agree to one and one, which means each team can only hit one, after that one they become outs. Why don't you just agree to it everytime? It doesn't seem to do you any good to disallow them, especially in your league where it seems like they aren't easy to come by

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) Ha, k good. I get that it was the guys prime motivation but I'm tired of seeing a new dough faced bruce wayne run that scene every movie iteration. Exactly. And this Batman is supposed to be older, grizzled, mostly done with crimefighting batman. This flashback isnt needed, the character is established.
  15. i bet the Marlins are so excited to get this contract signed for the Yankees or Red Sox

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) Is this sarcasm? maybe just a little bit. That origin story has only been told at least 5 seperate times since Tim Burtons batman premiered(Batman Begins, Gotham, multiple animated shows and now BvS)
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) The thing is, the glaucoma in Puckett didn't develop until months after the injury. He played in the Spring of '96 (and well) but developed a spot in his right eye towards the end. It turned into glaucoma. It was an inglorious end to an amazing talent.

  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) Haven't a few players totally blown out of Nikes? I think they are trying to make shoes so light anymore, they all are pieces of crap. I honestly couldnt tell you, im not much of a shoe aficionado. The first i really have heard about this sort of thing was with Noah, and now with Rose. Granted i dont pay attention to the NBA super close, so i could be wrong.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Oh for the days when Bill Veeck sat up shop in the hotel lobby "Open for Business." I remember when Kenny Williams did that at winter meetings, people were not happy at all
  21. its the middle of november and we are talking draft. Thanks obama. I mean Emery
  22. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) Per mlbtr... 9:36am: Heyman reports that the two sides are very serious about getting a deal done, suggesting that it could end up being for a whopping 13 years. The two sides are said to be on the same page regarding money, Heyman writes, but two non-monetary issues still need to be worked out: a no-trade clause and a potential opt-out clause midway through the deal. One source characterized the negotiations as being on the 10-yard line. 8:40am: ESPN’s Buster Olney hears that one possibility that has been discussed is a 12-year, $325MM contract (ESPN Insider required and recommended). Olney also wonders how the frightening, season-ending injury to Stanton has affected his perspective and influenced his willingness to accept a deal like this. As Olney notes, Stanton acknowledged after the injury that had the fastball which struck his face hit him just millimeters in a different direction, his injury could have been career-threatening. MERCY!!! It reminded me of Kirby Pucketts career ending fastball to the face. Scary stuff
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 14, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) Except he went with Adidas...lol. those are probably like pillows on his feet compared to those french bricks he was wearing. I swear there has been at least twice in this short season where i have seen Derricks foot come completely out of his shoe while he was just cutting. Not like it was stepped on and he pulled his foot out, but just cutting to stay in front of his defender and the shoe just stayed behind. you would think with the ankle issues that those shoes would be strapped tight to his feet.
  24. i think the shoe criticism talk may get louder if this rolled ankle stuff keeps happening. It would be REALLY interesting if it comes to a head like it did with Noah, and he decides he needs to wear a different shoe for better support
