  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) James Harden has been other worldly so far this year. He just goes to the line all game. It's pretty ridiculous, 63 FTs in the first 4 games
  2. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 06:28 PM) What about jason heyward? Seriously, what about him? The thread is about the possibility of upgrading at catcher and you are talking about a right fielder
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) 7pm game tonight. First round of playoffs. We should roll but oh so cold. Lmao. First round Good luck!
  4. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) I like your idea of grabbing up a big contract for minimal prospects but that depends on the position. Guys with big contracts are probably older guys that don't fit into our younger core MO of late. I'd be more willing to do that in the infield and use our bullets to get fresh legs for the open OF spot. Quintana for Bryce Harper is my latest crazy thought. I dont see any way the Nationals trade him right now(unless he forces it). He is still on his rookie contract, they are paying him peanuts My crazy thought (which admittedly came from a discussion with a friend) is Tulo at third base.
  5. a report has come out indicating the NFL has rejected Adrian Petersons immediate reinstatement, claiming they need more time to make a decision http://deadspin.com/report-nfl-rejected-im...rian-1655387423
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) This is why we keep you around here. that, and the chocolate chip cookies he keeps sending Gage
  7. Lets just play the imagination game and say Danks and Cargo were really swapped. Could you imagine how many homeruns Danks would give up in Coors? good lord, that would almost be worth getting the extra innings package to watch
  8. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) Good one! With CarGo's money, he probably hired a jock manager to handle a of CarGo's jock affairs. Well yea, his name is Scott Boras. He has a spreadsheet of the jocks achievements and accomplishments, complete with bar graphs and pie charts, as well as all of the related sabermetric stats.
  9. There was a report that came out that suggested Lebron is letting this team sink, letting them learn the hard way that they arent what they think they are. Interesting strategy
  10. woooo boy is Kyrie getting the pariah treatment already. 23 shots and 0 assists, lolZ
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 07:03 AM) When Cargo signed that huge contract, he was coming off a really good year and he was still young. A five tool guy if there ever was one. His agent was Scott Boras, but Cargo pretty much negotiated that contract on his own. 'Negotiate' might be an exaggeration, because I think it was simply offered to him by the Rockies (GM was Dan O'Dowd), and Cargo took it. Boros argued against it, wanting to take him to free agency. It came on the heels of the Tulo signing, IIRC. The rest is history. The only history that matters is his injury history, which shows that Cargo probably cant carry his own jock without breaking his wrist
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) Exactly. If the Sox wait til next years FA then its likely the Sox don't have a protected first rounder and then hind sighters come out saying the Sox shouldn't sign any top free agents because the last player they signed that cost a first round pick was Adam Dunn and we know how the song will go from there. If there's a year when the Sox should fill a few holes through FA, this is it. The more I hear about CarGo and his horrible contract, the more I like the idea of going after Rasmus who would give similar production, one year younger, cheaper and will not cost anyone from the farm teams. Rasmus AND VMart would add some very nice power from the left side and Rasmus is definitely an upgrade over Tank in LF. I would try to give the Yanks some competition with regards to Headley too. If the Sox aren't willing to spend on a few quality free agent bats and a reliever or two then they should stop with the " we think we can contend" bs because there's no friggin way they will without spending the money. Then comes another season of excuses starting with " attendance is down and the whole bleeding heart bag o bs. This is a myth, at least in the last decade it is. The Sox have spent plenty of money with terrible attendance since 2005.
  13. Rose started slow but he really popped right before halftime and played well for the rest of the game.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) Bulls will escape from another game they probably should have lost. They've looked like s*** basically all season. The bench against NY is the only good stretch of bball so far. Imagine what happens when they are healthy and start clicking
  15. Rose wont outrun any of the criticism until he stays on the court. there really isnt anything more to it
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) I didn't catch what happened to the other ankle. He had no contact when he blew out his ACL and missed an entire season. He had no contact when he tore his meniscus and missed 70 games. This morning Cowley said when he landed and rolled his ankle, his other foot sort of came out of his shoe and that is when it was rolled. I didnt see it, but that is the first i heard of how it happened
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) Who did they overwork? Snell got minutes. Butler played well. Tons of guys got minutes and productivity. Only spot we didn't do a lot of rotating was in the post-position and that was largely due to Noah being out it meant more minutes to go between Taj / Nik / Gasol. We missed a heck of a lot of cookies and easy jumpers and defense really didn't ratchet down till late but man I love the depth of this team. Dougie played nice in the 1st half but Nik really impressed as well. Did a nice job creating from near 3. He is pretty quick for a guy his size and a much better passer then advertised. I would have liked to see Nazr get a few of the 40 minutes they gave to Gasol, but other than that I am not gonna complain
  18. It would be hilarious if the Cubs bought the rooftops and then decided "naaaah dont think we are gonna put up that big signage that blocks the rooftops now"
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 5, 2014 -> 07:46 AM) Setting up the White Sox for the franchise-altering Domonic Brown deal. which franchise? Charlotte? Lehigh Valley?
  20. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) We should start signing these mini guards to multi year deals, and they all need to give half of their future pay checks to Thibs. It's a shame Brooks will be out of our price range again next year. meh, they will just find another one it seems. They just look for a little pure scorer that shot his way off his previous team and give him a little bit of money. Small investment, big return, repeat.

New movie trailer from Neil Blomkamp, director of District 9 and Elysium http://screenrant.com/chappie-movie-trailer/ Looks like another spin on Pinnocchio. I like Blomkamp, i am looking forward to seeing this
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) Thanks, I must have missed the fandom there. I was thinking the Miami pitcher, and was like, there is no way that guy has been in league 6 years. And, he probably isnt gonna be doing a lot of pitching next season. At least not until after the AS break
  23. There are some vicious cold and flu bugs going around right now. my family has been under seige for 2 weeks
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 08:48 AM) I guess I lied. that was a ridiculous block btw. he got way up for that
