  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) I might be wrong, but wasn't it Skiles who wasn't a fan? I think Thibs could make it work honestly. It's not ideal but if that's what it takes to get Melo, it's fine with me. IIRC Skiles and Pax were pretty much in sync with the type of players they liked and didnt like, and JRS was sent packing immediately after he was acquired
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) So I guess they will let Melo play with a headband? lol I think they somewhat let that go when Rip Hamilton used it all the time for his mask.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) You should have added a choice "it's his decision". I liked what he had to say about it that goes without saying, it IS his decision. The thread is asking what you want him to do
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) And this year? What about it? Am I supposed to forget about the rest of his career? This is just like your obsession with Chris Carter because he started off hot for the A's a few years back. That doesnt make his career all the sudden outstanding Morse is what he is. He is streaky and can hit it hard, but he isnt reliable. If he was, then he wouldnt be on his 4th team in 2 years
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) The argument about Viciedo's home and road stats deserves another look. What compelling reason is there for him not to perform better (especially in the AL) if he's playing 81 home games in a different stadium? 2011-2013 combined on the road, 523 AB's, 22 homers, 75 RBI's, 771 OPS 2014 779 OPS at home vs. 616 at home, projected over a full season it would be 24 homers and 68 RBI's. Essentially, season after season for 3 1/2 years now he has been a guy who will give you 22-24 homers and a 771-779 OPS EVERYWHERE BUT USCF, when the average for a MLB LFer is closer to 720-730. Not to mention the fact that he's only 25. As a team of radio broadcasters was saying yesterday, it's easy to go out and find veteran relievers in the July trade market, it's MUCH more difficult to find power hitters in an era with less and less power by the year. Another former White Sox who "clicked" later in his career, Michael Morse (and yes, it's hard to separate exactly how much of it was his evolution as a hitter vs. PED's, but clearly it can't be 100% the latter or he would playing at AAA Iowa with Manny Ramirez). Yes, we can compare Paulino to Viciedo or Beckham all we want, but it's apples and oranges. Morse has literally had one true good season in the majors, and has just been injured or in a platoon situation the rest of his career.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) That wasn't my objective. It was the result
  7. DA, how many times do you want Wite to tell you he was wrong about Paulino? He has done it multiple times in multiple threads. Let it go, stop rubbing his face in it.

  9. Why is Haslem so important to them? The guy is replaceable
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) Generally, I like Mulligan, but despite this being super picky, I cannot stand the way he asked questions. Instead of asking questions, he adds his commentary for about a minute and then ends with an infliction. It just is so annoying. I know what you are saying, but it really depends on the interview. Sometimes he does that, sometimes he doesnt. He makes me laugh though, he seems like a fun guy to hang out with
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) 5 year $90 mil max extension for Kyrie Irving. well earned (eye roll smily)
  12. My excuse is 3 kids, work, life. But then again, I am not a part of the attendance truthers or deniers groups
  13. Brooks Boyer just said on the score that if you bought a ticket for last nights postponed game, it becomes a gift certificate for any game you want to use it for, and if you use it tonite then you get two games for the price of one. I dont know if that is a standard practice, but it is pretty cool
  14. lol caulfield why did you bold the part where the kid was born
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 08:10 AM) Cowley is reporting that barring a S&T, the Bulls pitch to Carmelo will be to take $15 million so that they can keep Taj. I have been pretty supportive of GarPax this offseason. They should be fired if keeping Taj Gibson impedes them landing Anthony. Why do we overrate players so bad? It's f***ing Taj Gibson. Who cares. Get Melo his $20 million and do whatever it takes. Figure out the rest later. Thats not the whole thing, it is basically "If you want all the money, we have to work out a S&T and include Taj, if you want Taj to stay then you will have to take less"
  16. Abreu has officially declined participating in the HR derby Edit: actually still slightly ambiguous about it. That's what I get for reading tweets http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-run-derby.html
  17. flavum or fathom need to get together and discuss being different, and one of them needs a discernable avatar.
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:05 PM) If fathom started this game thread would anyone say anything? Well you are a mod now, so you tell us
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) That's clearly a legacy payment than current merit. Until the most recent ratings book came out, B&B won their time slot for quite a long time. Mac also brings in ratings. Both of them are annoying in their own ways, but people listen to them
  20. lol, Dunleavy just cant stick anywhere he goes
