  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 09:56 PM) Moores, right? yep. He retained ownership stake but it really hurt the team
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 11:36 PM) According to the latest rumors, AJ Lee is pregnant and may not be back on WWE TV this year. Rajah reports that multiple sources have claimed the story is true. Assuming she ever does come back, it would be March or April at the earliest. This depends on when she became pregnant, of course. AJ and CM Punk were married last Friday with friends saying they "loved the idea of having their wedding on Friday the 13th." If she is pregnant, I dont see Punk on tv any time in the next year. On one hand, i respect the guy for being able to tell Vince to suck it and truly walk away on his own terms. On the other, I am really am pissed because there is a massive void in the WWE for a character like him.
  3. Well, its the monday morning before the draft. s*** is about to get crazy
  4. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) Was Towers really all that bad? I can't really remember anything significantly bad he did over there. He made some great deals for them. It all comes down to the org itself. The Padres have been cheap as s*** for decades, gave him nothing to work with, couldn't use FA, couldn't go Red Sox/Yankees with overslots in the draft, etc. Then the owners changed hands and the new guys are also cheap as s***. The ballpark is great for attracting reclamation project pitchers but that's really it, hitters don't want to play there, they're never really thought of as serious contenders, can't throw big money at anyone... that's a situation that will make a lot of GMs look bad regardless of whether they actually are or not. Towers really got screwed at the end. The owner was in the middle of a divorce and was forced to sell the team because of it. Towers was forced to work with absurdly low payrolls
  5. A bunt. A f***ing bunt.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:21 PM) David Lee was who I was wanting after we missed out on big ones. GS got him off the scrap heap late in free agency. I would have liked him as well, but at the time Boozer had a little more shine on him I think Boozer from afar is good, when you get him up close you see the warts
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) I've always despised him. That doesn't make him terrible
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) Exactly. It was like, "Oh we missed out on the big ones, we freed up and have all this money...um, here Boozer. See! We spend!" Yea, but they also had to spend the money, it wasn't something they could pocket for later. And Boozer did fill a need. It was just a massively disappointing alternative to what we wanted and was yet another swing and miss by the FO
  9. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) It's very hard to sweep a major league team... It is, however, rather easy to walk the first two hitters

The HD wind waker is just awesome
  11. Headley is having back issues, has already had an epidural in the last few days. Huge red flag with his bad numbers
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) They wouldn't have had Flowers hit for him. You would have b****ed if they put in XXXXXX anyways
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) Swing the bat....can't believe they let him bat there. You would b**** if they put flowers in over him QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:55 PM) The wheels are about ready to come off for the 2014 White Sox fun while it lasted. Was it fun for you? I have yet to see you post anything that indicates anything you have watched was fun
  14. Flowers is constantly 0-2
  15. Noesi is good until he is not. Then he is really bad
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) You and many others in this thread are being too logical. That can get you in trouble. Ask any marriage counselor. Boras has a history of not being logical, just greedy. His history with White Sox also shows a hint of vindictiveness. Not sure where it started. My logic, which is often flawed, says that Rodon would be better taking the money now and getting to work instead of drinking beer, eating potato chips, and whatever else 21 year olds do these days. Boras is 100 percent logical for his clients and himself.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 05:11 PM) Are you telling me Bargnani was not the key to their playoff run? They didn't make the playoffs? Deadspin has a wonderful collection of Bargnani excellence http://deadspin.com/tag/andrea-bargnani
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 05:01 PM) Bingo. + a first round pick, for a guy who you'd literally get nothing for. In a team that is cap-f***ed like the Knicks, that is a nice deal. Cap f***ed and devoid of first rounders due to dealing them all for garbage
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 08:27 AM) It does seem light especially considering Bowden's reputation when he was a GM. He was known for demanding ridiculous prices for his players. He can be silly and nonchalant about it since he has no dog in the fight
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) I don't think he was overlooked, he was one of the most popular bears players. I'm not that sad, i'd love if we could find a longsnapper that is a legitimate backup. Last year we had 2 players whose sole worth was special teams (Hester/Mannelly) I am saying the position itself is largely thankless and overlooked. Mannelly is definitely appreciated by Chicago
  21. Patrick Mannelly announced his retirement today at 39 years old. He had a job that was largely thankless and overlooked, but he did it very well for a very long time.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 11:12 AM) Except for Anna Kendrick singing Titanium in the shower... The funny thing is that's exactly what Marty or Ayn Rand would also say. Since 2005, maybe there is this idea coming from ownership that the fans "owe" the White Sox their loyalty/allegiance and discretionary dollars, as if they were Shakespeare in the Park or a ballet company operating as a non-profit/501-c-3. Well, as all research proves, you lose the goodwill from a World Series title after about 5 seasons, and that's exactly what happened...despite that 26-5 run in 2010, not making the playoffs that year and then the disastrous 2011 season with Rios/Dunn/Ozzie becoming a joke and the running feud with KW turned off a lot of fans who were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. there is so much caulfieldian language in this post i simply cannot stop reading it Movie Reference 2005 reference at least 3 current and ex players all mentioned inference that another poster would say something and cherry on top Ayn Rand reference
