  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) I'll fix PK's quote for him to make it more truthful.I'll fix PK's quote for him to make it more truthful. QUOTE thanks
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) Take it easy people. As I wrote, it came from the mouth of Tom Schaer or Schaerer who does the updates for them at around 6:45 this morning on ESPN radio 1000. I haven't found the quote myself. I was just wondering if anyone found it, or had heard the same thing. Yeah. Actually they said it yesterday after the game on AM1000. They also had Mark Buehrle quotes after the game where he said the guys are just not having fun.
  3. Pitching has allowed 34 runs in the 5 game skid. They've being doing worse probably because they've been feeling the pressure that if they allow 2-3 runs they lose. I think they, like the hitting are trying to do more than they should.
  4. QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) That's a new way of looking at it.I hope the NHL and Comcast will be successful,nd i'm looking forward to NBC's take on the NHL.Can you say,"Peter Puck"? PS:ESPN don't want hockey, but yet they can rerun the "World Series of Poker" over and over again? It's ESPN,I hope it's their beginning thier downfall. I hope the NHL succeeds with its new partnership with Comcast and I hope the Blackhawks return to something significantin Chicago to talk about. I think they were showing the World Series of Poker because I it was getting beter ratings than the NHL.
  5. Is this guy on crack? Doesnt he want to win a World Series title?
  6. The hitting has gotten used to the pitching bailing them out most of the season. They take advantage of the pitching and sit back for long ball. Yesterday, Bruce Levine noted that a few of the SP's are becoming irrated with this offense. Oh boy, I hope someone snaps and lets this offense have it.
  7. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) My personal opinion is to first have a closed door meeting and have ozzie rip this team a new asshole, then just like ozzie style, tell the whole team to go to his house and have a few keggers. Kinda like getting mad at them then picking the team up and showing them they have a "friend" in ozzie. That wouldnt be a bad way to got but I would like to see a player's only meeting. Whats up with the outspoken guys or leaders of the team like Konerko, Everett, Pierznski, Crede? Why dont they get off their asses and do something?
  8. There is nothing postive from this 5 game slump. Our hitting is atrocious and has been for most of the year but oddly enough our pitching has given up 34 runs in this 5 game skid(29 runs, if you take out Adkins). I think they are also starting to feel the heat from this slump and lack of support. They allowed 18 runs combined to a Twins team that came in struggling like us to score runs. Granted 5 of those runs were by Adkins and the bullpen pitched its tail off yesterday and bailed out our offense every inning until Adkins 40+ pitch nightmare.
  9. When will the next day come when we score 5+ runs? closest to today. Sorry for not being specifc but I didnt want to make the question to long.
  10. We played like crap the last two series. No reason to though after we had comeback and totally shutdown the Yankees and taken 2 out of 3.
  11. This is not a joke. I am dead serious.
  12. QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Flash, Don't put a blame on Kenny! You as well as EVERYONE on this board know how s***ty this trading deadline has been. For a million times, the Reds DO NOT want to trade KGJ away. Kenny has nothing to explain to me or to you or to anybody else. He has been doing pretty good job for our Sox team this year. Our players are currently going through a very tough period. And you know WHY? Podsednik is on the DL. Eversince Scott has been sick, you can see how terrible our team has been playing. Just let Podsednik get his full rest. When he comes back, he will be much healthier and, hopefully, we as the team will continue our first-half surge. Tomorrow, we are still going to have 11 games lead on the Indians and 12 over the Twins. Don't worry too much man! I wouldnt put any blame on KW. This all lies on the hands of: 1. Greg Walker for not figuring out a way to correct allot of these guys swings and approach. He's had all year and still nothing. 2. The offense itself because our hitters are not having productive outs or atleast positive AB's. They have not given our pitching any breathing room. Without the pitching we'd be nowhere. 3. Ozzie has to step up and become a leader and will his team back in. Stop saying someone did a good job when they clerely didnt. When they fail get in their face and let them have it. Dont sit there and put up with this s***!
  13. This problem looks terminal. I't wont go away for awhile.
  14. When will it be time when Konerko or Dye or Everett calls a player only meeting cause this is ridiculous already.
  15. We havent done anything since that first inning where we had runners on 2nd and 1st.
  16. We are really bad. Buehrle is falling apart these last few starts. Yeah we got a big error but he should still be able to pitch over that.
  17. It's not happening. The organization doesnt want to move him.
  18. I only hope the sparkplug will be 100% when he returns.
  19. why would we bench Konerko? He's our RBI guy and solid glove.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Our offense has been a joke all year long. We have had a few periods of hotness. And I think Frank Thomas did have a huge effect on that. They started getting hot in June and dumped off after Frank got hurt. He is someone that by himself cant carry the team anymore. But he is still an imposing force and makes people around him better. This is why they need Ken Griffey Jr. He would provide the same thing and I believe this one guy would make the team a hell of a lot better. We dominated April because our pitching was out of their minds. We have this record because of our pitching and our pitching only. To put any laurels on this offense is a joke. We cant count on Junior to be the savior of this offense. At this point, the deal looks dead. What if we dont get him? Are people going to just give up on them because we didnt get a superstar? We have to count on this offense coming through for themselves.
  21. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) This may sound silly, but I think this team plays with the weather. In the heat of the summer, and from what I've heard, it's pretty hot in Chicago this year, the ball flies out of Comiskey. In years past, our hitters were trying to crush the ball in the cool weather and it wasn't working, hence the poor start. This year, the team was manufacturing runs in the early part of the season, before the ball started carrying. So what does this mean? I think it means that the club will get back to their normal style of play as the weather gets cooler. Panicking is best done if we were fewer than 5 games up now and free-falling. The sox aren't free falling, they are in a slump. And as for rumors hurting the team...if the players can't deal with that, then they shouldn't be playing. And if you don't think that your employer doesn't always have your replacement in the back of his/her head, you're crazy. The Sox can't control the rumors, so play the game and play your hardest. Ozzie will get his team motivated again. Interesting I must say. We were dominating in April. Probably not much of an argument or anything cause its only one month but we were very hard to beat in the cold. This pitching has always been consistent this year even through the hot weather but the cold weather definately seemed to play in our favor.
  22. maybe next time when we run outta pitchers ozzie will want to use widger instead of adkins.
  23. Im concerned with the recent play but I think this is a bump in the road for the Sox. Every team goes through a rough stretch. I am confident that they will bounce back because they have always come back strong after a losing streak and this offense is more than capable of breaking through. Im sure Walk is helping those guys get back in there.
