  4. Tonight we start a seven game roadtrip, with four against Anaheim and three against the Rangers. Tonight we send Bartolo Colon (10-9, 3.76) against Aaron Sele (6-9, 4.89) Sorry, couldn't find line-ups. Possibly too early, as soon as they become available please someone add em. Let's go boys! CWSOX45
  5. These guys have just held on to beat Detroit the last three nights. I'm not worried about them. Not yet anyway. CWSOX45
  6. Happy B-Day HSC!!!! CWSOX45
  7. I think this move was just made because Nelson opened his big mouth about Gillick not making a move. Well he made one now! CWSOX45
  8. At the time I started this thread the game wasn't even over. I had no idea Colon had a blister. So I take it back, good win today. I don't know if Jerry made the right call going to Flash, but at least Marte picked him up. CWSOX45
  9. Hello, they won, so just shut up with the Rick Whiteesque second guessing. Backoff. I posted this right after the three run homer. It's not like I posted this after Marte struck out Relaford to win the game. I'm allowed to second guess, especially if it almost cost us the game. CWSOX45
  10. Flash should have never been put in. He's been used way way way too much. I think it would have been better to let Flash have another off day today so he could be rested for the Oakland series. Thank god for Marte. CWSOX45
  11. Another terrible choice by Manuel. You've got to let Colon go for the complete game. f*** YOU JERRY! CWSOX45
  12. Jerry Manuel is a f***in idiot. You let Colon finish this game with a shutout, jesus christ. The only way we lose games is because of our dumbass manager. CWSOX45
  13. For all of those that aren't registered: Garland, Gordon ask for explanations By Teddy Greenstein Tribune staff reporter August 5, 2003, 11:25 PM CDT White Sox manager Jerry Manuel had to answer to more than the media after Monday's 13-9 loss to the Kansas City Royals. Jon Garland visited Manuel's office to seek an explanation for why he had been removed from the game with no outs in the sixth inning. Closer Tom Gordon also sought out Manuel to discuss how the team plans to use him down the stretch. Gordon was called upon to work two innings Monday, and that threatened his availability for Tuesday's game. "I don't think I'm [available]," Gordon said about three hours before the game. "I really don't. I don't feel it tonight. I'll try to do what I can do." Gordon later changed his mind, telling Manuel he could go Tuesday despite having been extended to 44 pitches the night before. "I'll do whatever the team needs," he said. "Anytime you throw 40 or 50 pitches, you feel a little tight. But I'm not hurt. Thank God for that. I'll do everything I can to help this team win. And we need to win tonight. That's all there is to it." Gordon didn't want to raise a stink, but he seemed miffed that he had used been so extensively in the first game of a crucial series. "That's something I'm totally not understanding myself," he said. "But I don't want to get into it. I'd rather leave it alone." Gordon then said he would talk to both Manuel and pitching coach Don Cooper about it. Did he get a satisfactory explanation? "I didn't go in there for that," he said. "I just wanted to talk to him about a couple of things. Maybe what we are trying to accomplish later on in the season. Not so much who's the closer and who isn't, but what they expect from me. I want to do my job. Anything I can do to help the team, that's what I want to do." Manuel said he left Gordon in to pitch the ninth because he hadn't gotten work since Thursday and needed only 11 pitches to complete the eighth. With the Sox trailing 10-9 after eight, Manuel was hoping Gordon could keep the game close. But he gave up three runs in the ninth. Gordon didn't pitch Tuesday. Damaso Marte went 11/3 innings for the save, preserving the victory despite allowing two unearned runs in the ninth inning. Why me? Manuel actually applauded Garland for questioning why he had been removed after having thrown 79 pitches Monday. "I appreciate the fact that he wanted to engage in that kind of conversation," Manuel said. "When you do that, that [shows] growth. I'd rather have that than a guy moping around." Garland, who had given up three runs entering the fifth, allowed a leadoff single to Angel Berroa on an 0-2 pitch. With the left-handed-hitting Michael Tucker coming to the plate, Manuel called on Scott Schoeneweis, who failed to retire any of the four men he faced. Manuel has told Garland repeatedly that he wants to see more of a killer instinct from him, rather than allowing two-out hits and hits on 0-2 pitches. "Jon is one of those guys where if you're winning 1-0, it's going to stay 1-0," Manuel said. "But if you're winning 9-2, it might be 9-8. I think [Jack] McDowell was that type of pitcher."
  14. I saw that too, where were u sitting? CWSOX45
  15. No one has anything else to add to this? Am I not the only one that is suffering because of Manuel's mistake?! This is why I hate being a die hard fan.... CWSOX45
  16. Ball landed about 14 rows behind and to the left of me. I was told the guy that caught the ball wouldn't give it to Frank for 2 autographed balls and 2 autographed bats. He basically told the security guys to "f*** off." f*** that asshole. :fyou CWSOX45
  17. I'm sorry, but after sitting through the game tonight and watch Manuel pull Garland opening the gates to a 7 run inning I just can't take it anymore. I have to b**** about Jerry somewhere and where better than here? I've tried to give Jerry credit for our winning streak but now he's on my bad side again. His reason for pulling Garland is LAME. Oh well. Tomorrow's another day.....*sigh* CWSOX45
  18. Manuel's excuse was pretty lame too, he basically said he didn't like the way Garland gave up a hit on an 0-2 count. That doesn't mean you pull the guy. Way to go Jerry. CWSOX45
  19. Hernandez starts tomorrow, last time we saw him we lit him up like a christmas tree. It will help that we're at home. I have a good feeling that the Sox have another chance at a sweep or takin 2 out of 3 from these guys starting tomorrow. KC CWSOX45
  20. I feel that we can beat these two teams, the Angels had their special year last year. They're nothing but a .500 team now, like we were two weeks ago. I have faith still. Hawk said it best "We started this road trip 4 games out, we're now two." I'll take it. CWSOX45
  21. CWSOX45

    Appier

Appier lives in KC, everyone speculates since their pitching is so bad that they'll take a chance on him. They can have him. CWSOX45
  22. CWSOX45

    Appier

    Two words: Neal Cotts. CWSOX45
  23. To be honest with you I really didn't expect the Sox to win this game. I just couldn't see Dan Wright shutting down the Mariner's offense like Colon did last night. I can just see the headlines tomorrow: "WHITE SOX DOOMED FOR SEASON, DIDN'T SCORE ONE RUN." meanwhile "CUBS LOSE CLOSE GAME, CHANCES OF TAKING DIVISION STILL LOOK GOOD!" CWSOX45
  24. You're right Roman. We won't have any momentum tomorrow at all. After all we've been the hottest team in baseball since the break. We're not going to win them all Roman. Chill out. CWSOX45
