    Films Thread

Checked out "The Constant Gardner" last night. Good thriller.
  2. Ted Kennedy apparently suffered a stroke today.
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 17, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) This is awesome... I guess "Straight Talk" means saying whatever you feel like saying, whether true or false, with a straight face. It's sad that the best the GOP could come up with is a 72 year old war mongerer singing Bomb Iran. Their whole campaign will be based on fear mongering and negative attacks.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:29 AM) And let's assume that one day we get the ability to travel beyond our solar system in a timely manner. Worm holes.
  5. Is it just me or does the time keep changing for when posts were made?
  6. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) Bigsqwert, if you are going to post in the GOP ONLY thread... please be advised that linking to Rosie O'donnell's blog, the huffingtonpost, 9-11 was an inside job sites, the dailykos, ect will not be taken seriously. You are just being a troll. It is video footage from a Washington Post interview. Why can't I post it? Who made you the boss?
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) stop posting in this thread Congrats! I didn't realize you became a moderator on Soxtalk.
  8. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) find a real news source or do us a favor and stop posting in this thread Who cares which site posted it? It's video footage of McCain.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) Well, I know that every time I'm in a national park, I keep thinking "Man, if only the air wasn't so clean". Thankfully, we're finally doing something about that. Heh. Read that earlier today. Amazing.
  10. Obama succinctly says what I was trying to say:
  11. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:44 AM) Who said that "deal with them, one way or another" means talking to them? Are you seriously going to play dumb on this one?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:39 AM) Hmm I wonder why John McCain isn't having all of his surrogates cry about this on the campaign trail then? Because he flip flopped on this issue. He was for talking to Hamas before he was against it.
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) I already posted earlier a very likely choice, Jimmy Carter. But if anyone else wants to self identify with his words, go for it. Very appropriate considering he was in Israel and Mr. carter had recently been there talking to terrorists. The same terrorists McCain suggested we should talk to. Perhaps Bush was referring to McCain?
  14. QUOTE (YASNY @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:27 AM) I think it's strange the GWB didn't mention a party nor a person, Who was he referring to? QUOTE (YASNY @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:27 AM) It's also a case of the Dems/Libs feel they are particularly vulnerable on Nat'l defense Based on his approval rating I will have to disagree.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Why? He is actually doing what a legislator should be doing, representing his consituants, instead of his own self-interests. Good for him. One can argue: "Why do we even have politicians?" Whenever there's an issue to decide on just have the people take a vote on it and the majority wins.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) Why? He is actually doing what a legislator should be doing, representing his consituants, instead of his own self-interests. Good for him. Too bad our President wasn't like this guy with regards to the war.
  17. I had to scratch my head after reading this on MSNBC's First Read:
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:39 AM) CC has a point, I have an opinion myself but I haven't chimed in for that reason (although I'm more like NSS72 than BigSqwert). However, if not here, where else are we going to have this discussion or others like it? There's no thread on this latest subject and maybe there should be. And there are other things posted that people want to challenge but don't, and if they do, they get chastised for doing it in the wrong place. So you're not that handsome? I kid because I can.
  19. And might I add that Obama is telling Dem-527s to take a leave of absence this cycle and they're listening.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) I think the key will be turnout - and that is something that no poll can really indicate. From the GOP side, the question is, can a McCain candidacy bring out the hard core conservatives to vote? If not, then just hand it to Obama. From the Dem side, can they continue to get the massive new voter totals in the general? If not, they will have a tough time winning the right states to make the electoral math work. I think you also need to factor fund raising capabilities. Obama, IMO, will blow McCain away on this front. The GOP will need to rely on 527s to buy ad time across the battle ground states and we know what GOP 527s are like....super negative. People are fed up with that crap.
  21. I'm calling it on May 16th. My prediction is that Obama wins this thing rather easily. As we're seeing in the congressional races so far this year, in strong Republican strongholds I might add, people are tired of the negative campaigns and fear mongering. Obama's message of change will win out. This is an obvious "change" election cycle. I know we're all sick of that word but it's showing to be true.
  22. Sorry Kap. You shouldn't be in here anymore.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 15, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) McCain is popular in Israel. Even though he thinks we should meet with Hamas?
  24. I still don't see why the President of the United States used the 60th anniversary of Israel's independence as a global stage to bash Democrats. It was tactless and unnecessary. He's not Terry McCauliffe or David Axelrod in the middle of a campaign. There was no reason for him to air laundry while in a foreign nation.
