  1. Lets hope step 1 of Coop's game plan takes effect tonight...stop tipping pitches. Step 2, mechanics, to be worked on in future starts.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) Yeah, that is a good point and further clouds the issue. Why did Ozzie want Thome gone, when Thome is a great chemistry guy; yet he doesnt want to rid the team of Kotsay, who is a great chemistry guy? I can't answer that one. Maybe that'd be a good one for Rongey. Was Thome willing to accept a platoon here? Frankly I don't really care about Rongey's response. He's toeing the line for the organization since he's paid to do the official post game show on the radio. He's obviously wrong about the Kotsay decision.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) I shouldn't speak for Rongey and I don't know why I'm commenting since I also want Kotsay gone, but in reference to your point, I think in Rongey's mind, "being good in the clubhouse does make up for being a horrible baseball player" in this case. Because from what I read, I think it said he believes one lousy player can't cost a team a division title, but the collapse of team chemistry could be a killer. WIth so many players on a team, I"think" he was saying yes one lousy player who is a great clubhouse guy is an acceptable tradeoff. Again, I'm all for getting rid of Kotsay but I think there's a difference of opinion in how much Kotsay is killing the Sox with Rongey and the rest of the board becaause Rongey truly is valuing chemistry as much as on-field performance here. Then why sacrifice even better team chemistry and actual on-field results by getting rid of Jim Freaking Thome, the ultimate clubhouse guy?! Makes zero sense. If Kotsay is so amazing in the clubhouse why is he playing on a different team every year?
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) It wouldn't take much work at all, just one phone call/text to a friend. I still say wait until the game. It's only a few days away and you don't risk anything that way. It's not like she's going to fall in love with someone in the meantime and go elope.
  5. Not the best photo of Rihanna I must say. Most things I see her in look amazing but the photo they used was meh.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) I'll give you a preview: All of them are too skinny, too light, and dont look enough like street walkers from Atlanta. And they're all ugly.
  7. *awaits ridiculous feedback from SouthSideDon*
  8. Big ups to #37, 33, 32, 30, 27, 25, 24, 21, 20, 19, 17, 16, 13, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1
  9. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 10:12 AM) Holy crap....I just looked at his stats in Charlotte......15 K's in 6 1/3 innings pitched!!! That leaves only 4 outs made other than strikeout. This kid could be the second coming of Nolan Ryan! http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=519242 I wouldn't get too excited. Even Randy Williams is pitching well down there.
  10. QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) Wouldn't Harrell have been starting on 2 days rest? I thought he pitched on Friday.
  11. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/...ce=MLBHeadlines He's not going anywhere. I guess Kotsay is our DH the rest of the way.
  12. Maybe at this rate Mark will be so embarrassed of his putrid play that he decides to retire early and give the team a chance at playing someone worthy of his ABs.
  13. If something happened between you two then she obviously likes you. Wait it out until the next softball game and talk to her afterward. She's probably thinking the same things that you are right now.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) But there are tens of thousands of Cub fans there... How is that better? It has been more enjoyable for me personally because the last 3 times I have gone the Sox beat them there.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) I'm not quite sure where you're going with this. The only "inside information" reason to keep Kotsay is he's good in the clubhouse. But being good in the clubhouse does not make up for being a horrible baseball player. There is no practical joke or clubhouse speech that can change the fact that Dayan Viciedo and Brent Lillibridge are contributing to this team at a significantly higher clip on the field than Kotsay is. And that's why it's a no brainer that he should be gone when Teahen is back. Winning breeds chemistry, not the other way around. But who cares about fielding the best team. Our goal isn't a championship. It's to have a great time playing baseball.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) I am thinking he must be getting good wood on the ball just right at someone. He has put up terrible numbers for 4+ months now. It can't just be bad luck. And who cares if he bats lefty? If you can't hit RHP or LHP does it really matter which side of the plate you bat from?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Ever been to Wrigley? Yes. It's a much more enjoyable experience.
  18. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) true, but the Twins still offer a pretty good lineup without him Because they play in the East, I sometimes forget about the Rays and how good of a team that is. They can run, field, hit, slug, and the starting pitchers are outstanding. I hope they get their stadium situation taken care of. They are playing awesome baseball, took over 1st place, playing a decent team in the Twins, and only 17,000+ people show up to the game last night That place is a straight up s*** hole. Went to a game there in late May and it's easily the worst stadium experience I've ever had.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) If Lillibridge is sent down when Teahen returns there will be grumblings. If Viciedo is sent down when Teahen returns, this board is going to explode. In everyone's mind, Teahen replaces Kotsay...left-handed bat and all. fixed
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) Yes. But is that one hit in game 1 enough for Ozzie to keep him here?
  21. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) I wonder if there's anything left? He's a lefty power bat that could be had for almost nothing. There's a reason he could be had for pretty much nothing.
  22. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 06:43 AM) Ranger aside, are there any reasons to keep him though? I feel bad for the guy because these could be his last few weeks as a pro. Like someone else said, if we DFA him he gets to spend more time with his wife which is a win for us and Kotsay. Yeah but if he no longer plays baseball maybe his wife leaves him?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) Sox should try and acquire Hermida from cheap from Boston. We need a lefty hitter that can play RF if needed. No more putting Andruw Jones out there against RHP. Can't we stick Lillibridge out there?
