QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) What if she was here first? Has there ever been a Soxtalk romance? Aside from me and Kap?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Here are a couple never seen before pictures of the aftermath. LIFE - Never before seen photos. Ugh. Disgusting.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) No one seems to want to recognize this, but I think a lot of what Kotsay costs us is not so much the poor ABs he gives us, but the ABs he takes away from guys like Viciedo and Lillibridge, who have been nothing but outstanding for us. And that doesn't even get into the roster spot he is taking away from someone else. Indeed. Why is this so hard for so many to understand?

If we don't bring Paulie back I'd love to replace him with a Fielder or Dunn. I realize Fielder will be much tougher since it would be a trade and he's a Boras guy.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) Man, thank God for Putz. He very well may get "promoted" back to the closer role next month. If we wait until next month we may be 3 or 4 games back.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) That first one almost had me spit out my drink. Actually sounds like something he'd say.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) If it were "Lefty one out" guy, then a lot of people, including KW, should be fired. No team in their right mind would ever draft a guy in the first round who they project to be a LOOGY in the long-run. I think the hope is he can develop into a starter, but if not, he should be a pretty damn good left-handed setup man. ^^I love getting the official White Sox take on things.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Yes. Let me clarify - Boston is good enough to be a serious spoiler, and all division rivals are always a threat even if they have no shot to win the division. If Boston gets hot against its two rivals, the central could come into the WC picture, especially if the Sox and Twins stay hot. It's possible but the Indians and Royals are just as likely to cool us off at times as well as the Twins. Just look at our division record.

The Quotable Ozzie Guillen from The Onion The colorful White Sox manager is in the spotlight for comments about supposed favoritism toward Asian players, but it isn't the first time he's had something to say. * 2006: "I very much love the people and the fans of Chicago, because they pay me very much to play a baseball manager in Chicago, even though I very much hate the people and fans in Chicago" * 2006: "I don't give s*** about the home-field advantages for the World Series. You know what I care about? Where the f*** is the Smash Mouth? Why aren't they here for singing the 'All Star' song? I love that s***" * 2007: "I love Dustin Pedroia. He is very good hitter. And he has a strong back, so he could be climbed up on and I sit on his shoulders and ride around on him like riding a little horse that loves me and eats apples and I have to pitch around because he is a good hitter" * 2008: "I never say one bad thing about those stupid f***ing Cubs fans. Not a single word about those mother-s***ting pieces of f***" * 2008: "If we win the World Series, I will quit baseball and run for mayor mostly on a campaign platform of minimizing the city's budget, while still raising revenues with strategic tax plan for Chicago businesses" * 2009: "Wrigley Field makes me puke. When I eat a little bit of the ivy on the wall it make me puke barf everywhere" * 2010: It's not the fair for Japanese players have the interpreter. I want the interpreter so I can understand what the f*** it is I am talk about"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) Mark Kotsay has put up an OPS of .709 since the start of the 2005 season and .695 since the start of the 2006 season. Think about that...for the last 5 years combined, he has a sub -.700 OPS. That is an 83 OPS+, in case you wanted park factors included. He has not been a "Decent" player the last 5 years. He has been a well below average player for more than half a decade. But his GTHABW (Guy to have a beer with) ratings are off the charts!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) You too Kenny? God damn it. Where is Rick Hahn when you need him? Who the hell is running the show?!? Tom Hanks as Mr Short Term Memory Guy from the old SNL skit??? The guy had one good game and now all is forgiven!?!?

Who's the odd man out of the rotation next year?
BigSqwert replied to Jerksticks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Before we get ahead of ourselves lets see if Ejax can continue improving this year. If he reverts to the guy that we saw in Arizona then the heck with an extension. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) I don't think Garcia will be sticking around. The Sox, I believe, will try to extend Jackson (giving him maybe an extra 2 to 3 years). If not, they might keep him they might trade him. And of course there is Chris Sale waiting in the wings as well. Just my 2 cents. So you're saying we may extend, keep, or trade Jackson? I dunno. You're really going out on a limb there. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) What are the odds that the Tigers waive Johnny Damon... and then that KW scoops him up ala Rios? Don't think there will be too many other teams standing in line for him. And teams that could block us are unlikely to take the risk just in case the Tigers chose to let him go. Just a thought... Would be the perfect RF/DH rotation with Carlos.

We saw how careful Ozzie was to let Santos pitch in April so expect similar treatment for Sale.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) Nah, she's having a birthday party type deal in the city. So the real question is, do I impress her by wearing my Freddy Garcia or Damaso Marte jersey? And which color box do you use for the "Dick in a box"?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) You don't believe he will? I have no idea at this point. EDIT: When we're openly looking at guys like Delgado you know that Kotsay is someone they want to replace. Whether Teahen is that guy we'll see.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 03:30 AM) Thing is, he's gonna start every game the rest of the season against righties. He just is. Even though Teahen will be back? You know this how?

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) Of the top 15 players in saves, the least amount of blown saves is 2(Soria, Soriano, Fleiz, Rivera). Jenks has 3,so it's not like has hasn't been doing his job at a pretty good rate. Capps, the supposed savior for Minny, has 5 already. There are a lot more telling stats besides blown saves that tell the full picture.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) I have said that Jenks has not been very good this year. But there has been a lot of over exaggeration in this thread concerning how bad Jenks has been. I just think that if you want to nitpick the awful outings, then you must also recognize the good ones. What is done in the middle is where one should be judged. His season has been a complete fail. The numbers speak for themselves. If you want him to come into the game in a playoff game or crucial situation then more power to you. I've seen enough.

Digging the new Black Sheep. I didn't even know these guys were still alive.

Great. Baltimore sucks all year and lets the Twins beat up on them last week. Now they get a new skipper and look motivated to play again right before we visit them.

O. Guillen loves him some Kotsay, so removal is out of the equation
