  1. So is there any hope of a Fielder deal getting done? There's no way Milwaukee can afford to re-sign him.
  2. Heh. That's pretty funny.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) It's not just the deep fried diets. There are 3 other things playing into this: 1. Fast food. 2. Sugary Sweets/drinks 3. Lack of exercise options I'm pretty sure that if you plot the numbers for state consumption on the first 2 and exercise time on a map of the states, you wind up with the same basic data as above. It's not just the deep fried okra or the slab of ribs, it's the slab of ribs one day, followed by the McDonalds/Burger King/KFC/Pizza delivery rotation for the rest of the week, with Coca-Cola to wash it down, followed by some time watching the TV. My daughter lives in San Antonio and whenever I visit I am blown away by the number of fast food restaurants in that town. It's insane.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) Did Cowley s*** on your front porch once? He's definitely an easy guy to hate, but man, you're always all over him especially. He basically s*** all over this website in the public.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Viciedo 2 days in a row?!?! Rejoice! He'll go 0-4 against Grienke and Ozzie will never play him again.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) They're overdue for a stretch in which they are extremely unclutch then. We keep saying that about the Twins almost every year and they seem to keep it up throughout the season.
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) we obviously need a government program to open vegetable stores in Mississippi. Well at least they can now save money on oil when deep frying everything. They can walk over to the beach.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) How many teams need a 1B or a DH like we do? Rangers, Angels, Braves, Mets, etc
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) He makes more sense. Second half hitter, can actually play respectable defense, and is cheaper by a lot. Which should make him a lot more desirable for quite a few teams one would think.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) LoL Rizzo Everytime I see that guys name, I think of the Jerky Boys. I'll work circles around you!
  11. What they want and what we're willing to offer are two very different things. Lets see how this all shakes out.
  12. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) So... trade a very talented and cheap player under control for 6 years for a very talented and expensive player under control for 3 years. Why not just keep Beckham and use the difference to bring in a quality free agent in the offseason? Maybe this is our best chance at another ring in the near future?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) I think in the case of some of the bullpen guys, the pixie dust ran out. In the case of the starters, they just were exhausted from all of the innings they had to throw the previous season. It was worth those innings obviously since we won the whole thing, but it catches up to you eventually. I don't know if I buy that. They played 12 post season games. That's 3 additional starts each for the rotation of 4 used in the playoffs.
  14. A timely observation of the media. And then there's this.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Randy Williams 2010 - 60 base runners, 57 via H&BB in 25 IP (2.28 WHIP), 0.7 HR/9 Cliff Politte 2006 - 63 baserunners, 62 via H&BB in 30 IP (2.07 WHIP), 2.7 HR/9 Atleast when Williams comes on, the base runners he allows aren't guaranteed to come home. How do they compare with regards to inherited runners? Is there a way to compare which one allowed more of them to score?
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) The crazy thing was that Williams actually made 3 acquisitions to help that bullpen out, and all 3 were varying levels of adequate (Riske), good (Thornton), and great (MacDougal), and it was still just terrible. Jenks blew up in July and September of that year, the league finally realized that Neal Cotts only had 1 pitch, Cliff Politte had a worse season than Randy Williams is having now, Brandon McCarthy was not a middle reliever, Boone Logan was certainly not ready to be a relief pitcher for the Sox...it was ugly all-around. In 2005, 4 White Sox starters finished with an ERA below 4.00 (and Freddy was the highest at 3.87)...in 2006, no White Sox starter had an ERA below 4.25, and Contreras was the best at 4.27 (and in his final 22 starts, he posted a 5.32 ERA). The magic had definitely worn off. Don't let Kalapse see that.
  17. Hopefully all the people that buy this get AIDS.
  18. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 06:34 AM) Viciedo looked good. He was hitting the ball hard. He needs to be playing more. It'd be a shame if we cleared up the farm for a rental hitter just to later find out that Viciedo can actually hit major league pitching. Give the guy a chance Ozzie.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) What is the value of a playoff appearance? My guess is in excess of $6mil. Thus if Dunn = playoffs it doesnt matter what numbers you throw around, it will be a win for the Sox. And Dunn > Thome, so if we had Thome we may never get Dunn. Not to mention Thome is only playing part time and theres no way of knowing if those stats extrapolate to full time player. How does playoff TV revenue work? How much goes to the teams in the playoffs?
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) he can have her He's probably a thumb guy.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) Good job Ozzie, not wanting Thome is still haunting us. Yeah that killed us. I was all for going another route but they had no alternative plan in place.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) It is Floyd's son. Wow. Gavin is a lot older than I thought.
  23. Pardon me if this was mentioned already but does Dunn have a no trade clause?
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Today's lineup: Pierer LF, Ramirez SS, Rios CF, Konerko 1B, Quentin RF, Kotsay DH, Pierzynski C, Viciedo 3B, Beckham 2B - Floyd P. Yay, he's alive! We'll probably see the home plate ump pull out his brush and dust off Dayan in his first at bat
