  1. How many does Peavy give back next inning? He's been doing it every time.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) What? Are you really equating the CY Young Winner with Scott Podsednik? You wanna stretch anymore on this metaphor? The statement he responded to was equally terrible.
  3. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) give Peavy some credit Nah. It's hard to give credit to what equates to a 5th starter on a Baltimore caliber team.
  4. I can't believe there were people actually liking the Pierre acquisition when it happened.
  5. Seems like a nightly occurrence that we've got 1 hit through the first 4 innings or so.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) 1 f***ing hit in 3 innings against a pitcher who's down 7 mph with their velocity. Who's the fall guy when we get swept on this road trip? Should have some huge walk up numbers next week after our 0-6 road trip.
  7. Harden is trying to lose but we're too inept to kick his sorry ass.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) Jim Thome has an OPS around 1.15....yuck He's no Kotsay though. Kotsay is faster!
  9. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) So, I was thinking, which is dangerous, does anyone think the "Peavy is injured," rumor is a way call his time off (DL) and visit to Charlotte (Birmingham?) "rehab." I have no idea what you typed.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) agreed, he has nothing. Ugh, this team is just terrible and boring. This team is making the 2007 team seem exciting.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) So would you trade Peavy for Zambrano now? I'd consider it.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) So I see that Ozzie called Beckham out today by saying "he's not the man". Why single out 1 guy when a majority of the team can't hit for s***.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) From Walker, everything seems to be "it's too difficult to change". What the hell is his salary? What is he getting paid to do? With the way this offense is struggling I'd expect him to be working 60 hour weeks looking at tape and working with batters.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) Walker also said it's very very difficult to make in-season swing or mechanics overhauls....like when Rios came in and was completely lost. Beckham has a slight hitch now in his swing and he's also not swinging on a level plan with that inside out solid contact up the middle and to LCF/RCF. But why is it that Cooper (with pitchers) or Tiger Woods (in golf) can do it relatively quickly? Aren't both repetitive motions that can be learned and unlearned....trained and untrained and retrained? Then why is he even around during the season?
  15. This is what the Pima County Sheriff has to say:
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Will they give you a window of time to try and sell your house? Really haven't gotten to that level of detail yet.
  17. Great info guys. I really appreciate it. I may take you up on that Tex after my next phone interview this week.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Yes, I moved from Chicago. I have no idea what the moving expenses were...they paid for everything themselves, and I have no idea what the "stipend" was actually supposed to cover. I basically was able to pocket the entire thing. My guess would be $1kish for the car and $3-4kish for all my stuff? But I am a single guy, so I didn't have all the things you and your wife had...I wouldn't get too caught up in the moving... This is a lifestyle and life-changing decision for you primarily. If you really want to do it, don't let the money hold you back. You can always make more money. What is important is that you and your wife are happy. I hear you but like most Americans these days we don't have a ton of savings. Having a $5K or greater moving expense and having to potentially pay our current mortgage on top of our new rent in Portland in case we have trouble selling our place could be crippling. Just weighing the pros and cons right now. And what if my wife struggles to find a job there?
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) Sqwert, I moved to Vegas almost 2 years ago. Part of the reason I was willing to was because my company took care of everything...they paid to move all my things, including my car and they paid me a moving stipend of like $6k on top of that. Everything went extremely smooth except that my car took a little longer to get there than I would have liked. I did a lot of research on housing and thought I had a great place all picked out until I went to look at it when I came in for my interview. It was a nice place, but the location is something I never would have chosen had I actually lived in the area. So luckily, I found that out when I went to look at it and started looking in a different area. Ultimately, the second place (the place I live now) turned out to be just what I thought it would be and I moved in there. But I would be extremely hesitant to sign any lease without seeing the place and the surrounding area first in person. As for the rest of it, you're just taking a huge leap. Research the weather, the city, the local industries and businesses...that will give you an idea of what the people there are probably like. But you really won't know til you get there and live there for a while how you're going to like it. That being said, nearly everyone I talk to says Portland is an amazing city and somewhere they would love to move. It seems like a great place for you. Did you move from Chicago? What were the moving expenses ultimately if you don't mind me asking?
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Heh, the first two slots are the worst parts of the lineup. Ass f***ing backwards. Hence my sig.
  21. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Will this job in Portland require you to travel to an island to conduct fertility research? I believe they mentioned something about a submarine but they were vague.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) And was then traded in part for refusing to work with him. Excellent point. In fact, I think we should extend him another 10 years for making us an offensive juggernaut. I particularly enjoy the annual April and September swoons our entire offense displays.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Uribe had the best year of his career, by far, his first year in Chicago, under Greg Walker. Nick Swisher had his worst year of his career with the Sox under Greg Walker.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) WTF? Maybe they can award the fattest kid too.
