I'm starting to think Ozzie might be slightly mentally retarded. No offense to the handicapped. -

Alexei leading off. *shakes head* -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) Well yeah, we all knew that at the time. I'd love it if we spent half or more of the Stim Bill money to directly push us away from oil. I'd have loved it if we didn't waste $1T on the unfounded, poorly execited and useless war in Iraq, since that same $1T could have gotten us ENERGY INDEPENDENT in a decade. I'd rather that all subsidies to oil companies stop, and I'd rather that we spend that money purely on alt, renewable energy. Unfortunately, at least at this point, that plan goes nowhere. Compromise is a necessity to achieve anything in Congress, even when its doing things well (which isn't often). So while we're all upset about this - and I am, believe me - the question you need to ask is, would you rather we do nothing? Or allow for a small increase in off-shore drilling in exchange for hundreds of billions going into the real future? Is that even happening?

At least Neil Cotts isn't starting for us tonight. :/ -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) Story on npr said the administration included the offshore drilling in the proposed legislation purely as a deal to get some republican support. Boo. epic fail

For those keeping score at home, this incident absolutely infuriates me.

QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) SAMPLE SIZE!!! 1 of 6 is a pretty decent sample.

For the statheads, I read that we are leading the league in SLPS (s***ty lineups per season).

Tweet of the day... "Every asshole who ever chanted 'Drill baby drill' should have to report to the Gulf coast today for cleanup duty," - Bill Maher

I don't know why I continue to watch LA Ink. It's so awful and staged.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Richard Roeper gave "Nightmare" a B. Kind of surprised but I usually like what he likes, with a few exceptions. 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe I'll check it out on netflix. No way I'd spend $10 at the theater.

And paying rent for a year or 2 should be much cheaper than your current mortgage payment. That is, unless you decide to own right away after moving.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) My thought was the same thing when we do it. IF i had to be working before we could move, my wife and kids could live with my parents in their basement while she finds a job. Our GOAL is to have her only work part time once we move, but between you and me... I dont see that happening... just dont tell her that. Yeah I hear ya. The good thing about Portland though is that my wife could feasibly work part time or for a considerably lower salary than she's making now since the cost of living is lower there. But one step at a time for me. I don't even have an offer yet.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) He's not coming back. I wouldn't count it out if Carlos had to hit the DL for some reason.

Another thing I discussed with my wife was possibly having her continue to work here while using a recruiter to find a job out there. She'd have friends/family to stay with here while I started working in Portland. That way we'd still have 2 sources of income while she tries to land a job out there.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) When my wife and I decided to make the move out of state, I have a few added levels of complexity. Not only do we own a home that we would have to sell, but we also have two daughters. So, any move out of state would include transferring schools and avoiding paying a mortgage while renting before we buy in the new location. My biggest fear is they would say "we need you in 2 weeks" I think an out of state employer would most likely be understanding and give you a little more time to take care of things at home and give you a little more time than a potential local hire.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) I dont understand the idea of boycotting companies based in the state. I can understand EVENTS in the state such as Super Bowls, bowl games, and Final 4s because people attending could be profiled. But why would I boycott the Cold Stone Creamery at Streets of Woodfield? To get these large corporations to band together to reverse the law?

Sox ticket fire sale has begun. Not a good sign. Hopefully the team really picks it up soon and the stadium starts filling up again.

Anyone have thoughts on the Dye article in the Sun Times today? "Where would he play?" seems appropriate.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 07:39 AM) Rickey Henderson did it 81 times. Touche

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) Naw. Remember he has to tear his hamstring for Kal to be sold on his injury prone-ness. At least he was able to go do some comic book shopping while sitting out.

Nightmare on Elm Street getting terrible reviews. Big surprise. Anything Michael Bay touches is garbage.

Beef is no issue since I'm vegan but thanks for your insight.

I'm confident given the same number of ABs, Wise would have put up better numbers. He could at least hit it out of the infield for a potential sac fly.

What happened to Jenks? Bad luck or did he get hit hard?
