QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) I'm going to beat it into the ground, but Frost/Nixon was way better. Still have to see it. It was between that and Taken last night. Wife wasn't in the mood for F/N.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) It's starting to actually piss me off. There is no way in Hell it doesn't win Best Picture. It's a foregone conclusion. Pretty weak year if that's the best movie of the bunch.

Slumdog is ridiculously over-hyped.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) Lets see, Best Visual Effects. Iron Man vs Dark Knight vs Curious Case for Benjamin Button. How the f*** did Button win over that. All they did is make him look old. This is crap. ^^^^^

QUOTE (qwerty @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) There have been darker and more twisted plots throughout the history of films than the dark knight could ever associate with... with lesser ratings. Those would be exceptions and not the norm.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) There was no blood or gore of any kind. That's why it got the rating it did. And that last sentence made you sound really fruity Approximately 20 people murdered including a graphic scene of a man getting run over by a truck, 18 year old girls strung out on heroin, sex trafficking, and foul language equals PG-13? Sure there wasn't a ton of blood but give me a break. When you have a 13 year old you'll see where I'm coming from.

Saw Taken last night and was thoroughly entertained. Yeah most of it was implausible and there were some corny scenes, especially everything leading up to the trip to Paris, but it was fun. I'm also surprised at PG-13 ratings given to movies like this and Dark Knight. They were both ultra violent and I couldn't help but think what the heck did it need to get an R rating? I guess if they showed a boob it would have gotten the R but having 40 people savagely killed or injured is fine. A sad commentary on society today that violence is so easily accepted.

Phew! I was worried they dropped the ball on the adaptation of the Watchmen. EDIT: Linked article is spoiler free. And replace the asterisks in the url with what's supposed to be there.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) All of my housemates who watched it last night with me quite liked it as well. What didn't you like about it? The casting, the acting, and the directing. I did enjoy parts of the soundtrack.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) I also watched 21 for about the 3rd time in the past month last night. Good film I thought with an absolute class soundtrack (Time to Pretend from MGMT and Young Folks from Peter Bjorn and John for instance). Jim Sturgess reminds me of a taller version of myself also (for some reason). 21 was unbearable. Felt like a film made for the USA network.
