  1. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) I've been reading newspapers since I was 8 years old. I used to always read the newpapers my dad brought home from work, and I still read a newspaper everyday at 23 years old. I like reading a fresh copy of the Chicago Sun-Times on my lunch breaks at work. It's something that I think cannot change with the times, because reading a paper on your lunch break is as timeless as you can get. Why should anyone lug around a laptop computer on their lunch breaks for the news? I'd rather have an actual newspaper in front of me. You don't need to lug around a laptop to get instant news.
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) Steele is an idiot. Not even Howard Dean idiot. He's an idiot all unto himself at this point. How is Dean an idiot?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Is the Rosemont Horizon still called the Allstate Arena? Yup

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Can someone who's read the book tell me how it ended differently than that movie? I won't be reading it. I'll let you know when I see the film. But that'll be in a couple weeks with some friends coming to town. We plan to go to Imax.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) how exactly is in vitro ethic? Maybe it'll help cure the gay. You'd love that.
  7. As usual, the Catholic church sets a new standard for hypocrisy.....they go to extremes protecting fetuses and molesters but show no respect for women and children. Full article

Anyone see The Visitor? Wondering if there are any scenes with subtitles. Going on another trip for work and don't want to make the mistake of adding a heavily subtitled movie to my Zune again. Made following Miracle at St Anna very difficult.

    Honeymoon advice

I read somewhere that European cruises are ridiculously cheap because of the terrible economy. Might want to try a Mediterranean cruise and check out Italy, Greece, etc.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) Why? Why do I listen to my wife who picks the bad ones because she doesn't want me to make her see it! Ebert loves it and Micheal Phillips slammed it. Looks like a mixed bag of reviews. Rotten Tomatoes score down to 64%.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Watchmen is getting pretty bad reviews. 76% on RT. That's not bad.
  16. Worst characters = Anna Lucia, Hurley, Boone and Shannon
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 08:40 AM) I also enjoyed the discussion with the Elton John impersonator(cant remember his name, the voice from ratatouille) when he was angry at the skinnier Elton John impersonator for ripping off his ripped off look. Patton Oswald?
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) I've heard a lot of people on this board, Republican and Democrat, tell us that the economy is cyclical, the President can't do much about it, Clinton wasn't responsible for the 90's heyday times, Bush wasn't responsible for the recession during his term, etc. So... which is it? That's easy. If you're party is in office it's a cyclical thing when times are bad. It's the President's fault when your party lost and the economy is down. That's how a majority of people feel regardless of which party they're affiliated with.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) I will reply to this for the rest of the filibusterites - as I said, it's not personal, I said that in my post. I'm honestly just tired. A lot of that probably has to do with what all is going on in my life. I may disagree with people here, but as you said, I would always welcome them around me (I'd certainly buy a beer, hang out, whatever - when I get a job, that is... hehe) because I know they do care about what goes on in our country, and our baseball team. *cough*
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 3, 2009 -> 08:16 AM) Oh, and the Asian karaoke tune was absolutely brilliant. Indeed. One of my favorite songs I've seen them do.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 2, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) Just lost 401(k) matching for this year At least it wasn't my job. No raises for us this year but they're keeping 401k match....for now.
