  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) I'm pretty sure he meant SS benefits FWIW Yeah what he said.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) That's been my issue from day one with it. If you want to be different than the administration you are replacing, you probably shouldn't be using their playbook. I think his administration will be different in that it won't be invading countries pre-emptively, disregarding the environment, advocating torture, attempting to privatize 401Ks, taking a dump on our civil liberties.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) permanent majority.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) That would be because it has gone over the top, but unfortunately it was the subtle things that used to make it so great. That's what makes the British version so much better. Most of the episodes now include implausible scenarios. No longer a can't miss show for me.

Watched 'The Strangers' last night. Was at the edge of my seat. Had me jump a few times.

Just got back from watching Slumdog Millionaire. I'm a bit disappointed given the massive hype it's received. A lot of critics have it in their top 3 of the year.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) I'll take Ye's simple rhymes that are terse and memorable over talib kweli or mos def any day. Just because they act like they are smarter doesn't mean they are. I actually would group Kanye into the 'intelligent' rapper club. I'm talking about guys like Shawty Lo who sound like they might be illiterate.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 02:25 AM) I'll actually greatly disagree with this, despite the fact that I found electric circus to be a joke of an album. This impression that rappers that talk about shallow social issues are somehow greater than rappers who avoid it is funny to me. Congrats Lupe, you say that coke dealers aren't cool. Here's your medal. Congrats Q-tip, you complain about people stealing your style when you f***ing stole your beats from the seven. So these people that claim they are poets can f*** off, I'll keep the same sonic aesthetic of Kanye and others before I give credence to these losers for making bad music but acting like it's important because it isn't violent. Meh. I'll take someone who has the vocabulary of at least a 12th grader over some of this thug rap out there that contains no words over 2 syllables.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) Just a general comment here: The Dark Knight was a good movie. But judging on some of the comments here and other people I run into every day, if I had not seen it myself, I'd have to assume it was the greatest movie ever made. It wasn't even the best movie of the year, let alone among the top 5. It's one of the best comic movies, if not the best, in many people's minds including myself. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) Not only that, Batman Begins was better. In your opinion. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) And furthermore, Batman Begins isn't the best of the series. In your opinion again.
  10. In other news, the Chicago White Stockings will have CR/AP battling it out for the #4 and #5 spots in the rotation. Yippee
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) If/when Owens gets hurt in ST, he will wind up being our everyday CF. We all know this, so we may as well just admit it. In a division loaded with major CF talent it's a shame that this guy will probably wind up playing a lot of games out there for us.
  12. LMAO I'm so glad I just stumbled upon this: Watch more It"s Always Sunny in Philadelphia videos on
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) He's a 5th OF. No matter how bad he performs, I doubt we are in "deep trouble" because of how he performs. Who are the #3 and #4 outfielders ahead of him?
  14. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Lyrics are vastly overrated. Perhaps to listeners of top 40 rap. I prefer to listen to something with a little more intellect.
  15. QUOTE (Soxy @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Lisa Madigan is my hero. Link to story about motion filed by Madigan. Random Lisa Madigan tidbit: I was channel surfing a while ago (maybe over a year ago) and saw her and her husband featured on a travel channel show. They were being interviewed at their honeymoon destination proving their opinion/feedback of the place and the caption beneath her said "Lisa Madigan, State Attorney General". I think they were in Italy if I recall correctly.
  16. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) According to MLB.com's Scott Merkin, the White Sox avoided arbitration with outfielder DeWayne Wise, signing him for $550K. Who do you think we'll be playing in the ALDS now?
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) Who the hell keeps the urine of a fox around though? Is it good to draw prey? No clue. You're asking the wrong guy. Perhaps he had a fetish.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) What full grown man has fox urine and a squirt gun just sitting around the house? A hunter I assume.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) Caught a free screening of the Day the Earth Stood Still last night. Thoughts in black.
  20. Leave it to Drew Brees to lay an egg and have his worst game of the year, costing me a chance at a huge fantasy jackpot. Now I need MJD to get kidnapped and Westbrook to contract rickets over the weekend.
  21. Not a huge Jennifer Aniston fan but check out her GQ spread this month. Make sure you click the slide show.
  22. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) Bears Defense or Colts Defense. Which 3 receiver out of the core Bryant Welker Evans Jennings Mason Colts. When has the Bears D stopped a high powered offense? Bryant, Welker, and Jennings. If Cassell doesn't play then I would consider Evans over Welker.
