QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Then I guess we shouldnt say Socialism is a bad thing? As for Cali, they are a donor state (meaning they pay more federal taxes than they receive in federal benefits) if the state didnt have to subsidize the conservative Southern states, the California economy would be much better off. Once again a Socialist policy. I guess I am just confused as to what economic policies people are presenting here. That being said, abuse is far more rampant with illegal immigrants as they can not seek legal relief. When you have LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, they have to pay taxes, they have the rights of other Americans (thus if there is minimum wage everyone has to play by the same rules). Restriction of labor is more mercantilism/protectionist, as opposed to free market. I think most of us support collectively contributing for the better of society. To what extent these mandated contributions should be in-place, what should be a socialized service, and if excessive mandated contributions and entitlements harm society.. .those are the issues. As far as your suggestion that the existence of sovereign countries is not a "free market" attribute, I don't agree with that.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) Obama isnt Jewish, he cant be the Messiah. You want the US economy to go back into overdrive, let more immigrants in. Its simple economics, when you screw with the supply of labor you artificially increase the cost of labor. That means companies go to other markets for labor where there is not inefficient regulation. Its a pretty fun historical comparison when you look at the US economy and compare it to immigration totals. http://web.missouri.edu/~brente/immigr.htm Immigration restricted in 1924.... But its more fun to say immigrants steal our jobs! I don't think that's a good idea. use a recent comparison, modern day California. we don't have an issue with a labor shortage, that is obvious. if you are suggesting an open borders libertarian free for all, with no minimum wage or worker protections, then yes you will lower wages. but the country will be a total mess and abuse will be rampant.

http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/05/26/miami...-1-dead-1-hurt/ I know certain posters here will not agree with this, but we need Zim now more than ever...zombie apocolypse has begun.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) Googling "Trayvon Martin fight video" gives you assloads of hits. Doesn't surprise me. Drug dealing at school, breaking into houses, involved in illegal underground street fighting, attacking Zim and bashing his head in the cement; all pieces of the puzzle.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 25, 2012 -> 02:18 PM) http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2012/05/10/tippin...?iref=obnetwork best to just pay the tip and leave (never to return). it's not worth the hassle of arguing over IMO.

I still tip the delivery driver even if there is a delivery fee.

well, i think it's pretty clear now. I have reviewed the facts and Zim is obviously innocent.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 20, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Not trying to upset people in this thread but looking for some insight from some conservatives to help answer a question that's been bugging me. So my dad and I have been talking some politics and some stories came up between the two of us: 1) A high school teacher of mine, who was highly conservative and made in fun of liberals all the time during class (actually really liked her) and she made it a point to give her conservative position to what was mostly a liberal high school. But when the teacher's union threatened to go on strike to keep or raise health benefits (can't remember which) she was fully supportive for the union and advocated for them plenty. Now, wouldn't a staunch conservative be against unions? 2) My dad's sister had a neighbor that would hang out at my aunt's place for super bowl parties and the such, and he always was talking up conservative points and made it a point that he was strongly conservative, and especially knocked government help programs. But when he started losing his house he applied for federal aid. Wouldn't someone who didn't believe in these programs not use them? Im not trying to be a dick about this, I'm just starting to think that too many people knock too many government programs or departments just because it doesn't pertain to them at that moment, but once it does then they are all for it. It's just hypocritical. I completely understand thinking that government is wasteful, and not the magic solution to all the world's problems, but these kind of people just make me shake my head. same thing as liberals that want to raise taxes, but are epic tax cheats themselves. you will have people that don't practice what the preach, per say. but anyways, there isn't anything necessarily "non-conservative" about being in a union or using a government program you are forced to pay for with taxes.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Fb is avoiding paying $16 billion in taxes by deducting stock option costs. This will be the largest such deduction ever taken. Didn't Obama give a speech at Facebook talking about how the are the perfect company? haha. oops. Now Obama's buddies are renouncing their US citizenship to avoid taxes.
