  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) Steve, You need to be a little careful with that charity stuff. Id hate to see you get a letter from the IL Attorney general. Make sure that its clear that the people buying will receive 0 tax write off. That's teespring's problem, not ours. They put the stamp on the site and got approval from Cornerstone 33 Foundation (after we told them to).
  2. Chris Getz' wife will be on the coming season of The Amazing Race.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) If Derrick has to tear another ACL to end these arguments, I might not be against it f*** yourself
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 09:32 AM) Just a mini question, why are people going RB first? The only RB worthwhile is Adrian Peterson when he's healthy. In normal scoring leagues, especially ESPN ones, the QB is always the better pick since RBs these days work as tandems for the most part and they are so inconsistent year to year. AP has been the only one who if healthy, is a top 5 RB every year. The rest fluctuate wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much. Also as draft strategies, I also suggest picking QBs who are in tough divisions as they won't be resting come playoff time for you. Matt Ryan, Drew Brees > Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning. So the NFC North isn't tough? Interesting. Also, it's basic math. You have to start two running backs and only one quarterback in most leagues. I disagree wholeheartedly on the tandems - the NFL is getting away from that again, thank God. I'd say there's 14 or so backs who are workhorses. Are you trying to tell me any of the below aren't clear-cut #1 running backs? Adrian Peterson Doug Martin LeSean McCoy Marshawn Lynch Jamaal Charles Ray Rice CJ Spiller Arian Foster Trent Richardson Matt Forte Stevan Ridley Alfred MOrris Maurice Jones-Drew DeMarco Murray Reggie Bush Lamar Miller Darren McFadden Sure, they might lose some touches to backups, but these guys are all going to get the bulk of the carries. And you need to start two of them (and I'm starting three RBs with a FLEX). Good luck not having garbage out there if you pass on one to snag Matt Ryan. EDIT: And you're god-damned crazy if you think I want one of the bottom four listed above as a top two RB for me, so of course I'm taking them rounds 1 and two Meanwhile, QB is stacked. 2 points per game makes up the difference between a Drew Brees (last year) and a guy you can get in the 6th round. And you only need one of them. It's basic, simple math. I took RBs with my first 3 picks and still had Matt Stafford whom I reached on in my big draft. I'd much rather gamble on his upside than take Drew Brees at 10 and be completely f***ed.
  5. Well, I might as well paste my roster from the big live draft I had over the weekend. Note - drinking beers and inputting rosters after a live draft is fun and not at the same time. I picked 10th in a 12 teamer. All TDs worth 6. 1 bonus point every 100 yards for rushing/receiving and every 100 yards past 300 for passing. QB Matthew Stafford WR Dwayne Bowe WR Pierre Garcon WR Michael Floyd RB LeSean McCoy RB Maurice Jones-Drew TE Zach Sudfeld FLEX Ryan Mathews DEF who cares, but Tampa QB Josh Freeman WR Justin Blackmon WR Vincent Brown RB Bryce Brown RB Jonathan Dwyer TE Antonio Gates TE Coby Fleener

It turns out that getting dicked around by that company a month ago worked out in my favor - just got a fatty promotion and raise.
  7. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 10:54 PM) It was 10. This is how the picks went. I was pissed because Romo went like 2 rounds after I took Stafford and I would have preferred him but I didnt even know he was still available because of the way yahoo ranks players. Yeah, they tend to put s***ty ones lower.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) If you havent already, put it on FB and I will share it. You can like it directly from the teespring page!
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) Who do you all think the Seahawks will face in the Super Bowl this year? Not your Raiders.
  10. Ok Bear fans.. Would you like A MR BOOMBOSTIC SHIRT? While... Showing Jon Bostic that we have his back? While... Helping Charles Tillman's Cornerstone Foundation? 100% of profits will be donated in Jonathan Bostic's name to the Charles Tillman Cornerstone 33 Foundation http://teespring.com/mrboombostic We here in Chicago LOVE hard hits, especially from our LINEBACKERS! As you all know we as Bear fans have witnessed a rich tradition at the position that includes Bill George, Dick Butkus, Wilbur Marshall, Otis Wilson, Mike Singletary, Lance Briggs, Brian Urlacher and NOW... Jon Bostic. He is now affectionately known as "MR BOOM BOSTIC" thanks to his hard, legal hits. On August 15th, Mr Bostic laid a clean hit that made Bear fans proud, excited, and relieved about the future of the organization's Linebacking corps. That is, until Jon Bostic was docked 5% of his annual salary. $21,000 to be exact. Bears fans don't want that fine to deter Bostic (or anyone else wearing GSH on their sleeve) from laying the wood in a clean way, playing hard, and using all of their ability on the football field 100% of the time. This campaign will not replace the salary he lost. But let's turn a negative experience into a positive for Mr. BoomBostic and Bear fans alike - and support Charles Tillman's Cornerstone 33 Foundation in the process! It also shows Mr. Bostic and the rest of the country that this city HAS HIS BACK. Help spread the word, get a shirt and let's support a good cause at the same time. ** 100% of profits will be donated** in Jonathan Bostic's name to the Charles Tillman Cornerstone 33 Foundation http://teespring.com/mrboombostic We need to sell at least 57 for Teespring to pring the shirts, but Our goal is to sell 1,000 shirts to raise $21,000 to match the amount of Bostic's fine from the NFL for a LEGAL HIT. Help out a worthy cause and come away with an awesome teeshirt just in time for kickoff! BEAR DOWN!
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) So the update I'm sure you were all really waiting for is that she just texted me back saying she would love to hang out this weekend.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Then there's that married guy I know who cheats on his wife. We go to a Hooters type place one day to eat lunch (I know, pretty lame considering the food sucks) because he goes there to drink once a week and wants me to go with him for lunch. We go there and the owner comes out to talk to us and he introduces us to some employees including a waitress who is a 10. He also introduces us to a set of gorgeous twins, but anyway, my friend goes back to the place one night and the 10 talks to him and they go to another bar when she gets off work. So he takes her out twice to great restaurants, she's all into him texting all the time. He helps her move one day. Finally they have sex. He said it was great, no hiccups there. Great sex. Now she's not texting him at all. When she does text, the tone is not sexual like it was before. He's ready to give up on her. Now is this because he's married and she sees no future in it? They've finally had sex and that's it? Or is it because he's been very nice to her with the nice restaurants, etc? She is 25 with 2 kids and her exes treat her s***ty. He's treated her so nice, is he getting the nice-guy dump? you f*ckin' serious with this?

  18. Hey, I dreamt Derrick Rose came back last night. It was cool. I wonder if he'll play this year.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 09:20 AM) I would love a Flash movie with Gorilla Grodd. I just don't understand the Marvel vs. DC stuff. Most comic writers and artists have worked for both at one time. Hell even the two companies don't even fight. I read an interview with the head of Marvel and all he talked about was how excited he was to see Man of Steel. Very true, and there have been a ton of crossover stories. The "Marvel vs DC" stuff is really just talking about how one is thriving and churning out movie after movie and making a film with a raccoon shooting guns while the other just keeps recycling the same s*** over and over, and not particularly well (save Christopher Nolan's lovely trilogy). I mean, if you give the devs at Marvel Green Lantern, I bet the movie they come up with is not
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 09:11 AM) No, he tried to surface dive from a somewhat level position at the edge of the water on the beach. I guess he just put his head down farther than he should have because his arms were apparently out in front of him. I know i've down the same thing a thousand times, but maybe i just never dip my head down as far, or do more of a dive/belly flop style jump on the top of the water. In either case, he clearly f***ed up. I spoke to his wife last night and he was able to feel a little more of his stomach/abdomen than he did before his surgery. He was also able to feel a little in one of his feet. That's all a really good sign as things might continue to get better as the swelling goes down. I'm sure it's still a 99% chance he never controls anything below his chest again, but at least there are a few positive signs. Complete freak accident.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 04:54 PM) For me, I've been done taking any physical "risks" for years. Well, at least the ones I can control. Playing hockey is a risk, and something could happen. But I'm not running around without a helmet on or a facemask on, etc. I don't wear a facemask, just the visor. Likely stupid as having teeth is a good thing, but I keep dodging bullets every Wednesday and Friday night.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) So I had a pretty f***ed up weekend. Rented a lake house in Wisconsin with about 24 other friends. Partied our asses off Friday night and had a great time. Saturday afternoon I went golfing with some buddies and got a call that another friend of mine hurt his neck in the lake and couldn't feel his legs. Didn't really think anything of it as he tends to always get injured (not seriously) doing something on these trips. An hour later I got a text saying he was being airlifted to the Univ. of Madison hospital for emergency surgery. Find out later that night he broke his C7 and severely damaged his spinal cord. He'll most likely never walk again. He was "lucky" in that he broke the C7 and not anything above that. He can breathe on his own, use his arms and seems to be able to use his hands ok. But he's basically paralyzed from the chest down with little hope of recovery. Anything higher and he'd most likely be a quad, if not dead. All because he tried to surface dive from the edge of the water into thigh high water (not off a dock). Not the smartest thing to do, but I've done it before, as has everyone else probably at some point in their life. The worst part was he and his wife had just bought their dream home - 2 floors of a brand new 2 flat - and moved in 2 weeks ago. Now they'll have to find something more wheelchair accessible. And they were days away from trying to start having kids. Definitely put my "problems" in life into perspective (i.e., they're not really problems at all) and made me very appreciative of what kind of life I have. Jesus.

Affleck can play Batman. He can also play serious. Hopefully he drops the Bahston accent, heh. As for DC's struggles - well, that's because beyond Batman and Superman, they are all straight-up lame. They've already punted one of the few actual superheroes remaning in the Green Lantern with that movie I hope no one ever watched. The only one that they seem to refuse to make that seems like a home run is "The Flash" which would be amazing if they got it right. Any list of top DC heroes has at least 15 that tie directly to the Batman world, including Robin, Knightwing, etc. DC took their short list of heroes and just kept bringing on newbs - I can think of two Flash's in Wally West and Barry Allen. I'm pretty sure there were like 10 Green Lanterns, not that I ever gave a s*** about that comic strip. There were some lame Aquamen, also that I did not care about (and any movie would immediately be met with Entourage jokes). The list just isn't that long of usable heroes. - Captain Marvel/ Shazam (Billy Batson) - Captain Marvel/Captain Marvel jr. (Freddy Freeman) - Mary Marvel (Mary Batson/Mary Bromfield) - Flash (Barry Allen) - Flash/Kid Flash (Wally West) - Flash (Jay Garrick) - Flash/Kid Flash/Impulse (Bart Allen) - Green Lantern/Spectre (Hal Jordan) - Green Lantern/Ion (Kyle Rayner) - Green Lantern (Guy Gardner) - Green Lantern (John Stewart) - Green Lantern (Allan Scott) - Superman (Clark Kent/ Kal-El) - Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Nightwing/Robin (Dick Grayson) - Nightwing/Robin/Red Robin (Jason Todd) - Robin (Tim Drake) - Robin (Damian Wayne) - Mon-El (Lar Gand/Bob Cobb/Jonathan Kent) - Nightwing (Chris Kent/Lor-Zod) - Supergirl (Kara Zor-El/Kara Kent/ Linda Lang) - Supergirl (Linda Danvers) - Power Girl (Kara Zor-L/Karen Starr) - Superboy (Conner Kent/Kon-El) - Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) - Wonder Girl/ Wonder Woman (Donna Troy) - Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark) - Aquaman (Orin/Arthur Curry) - Aquaman (Arthur Curry) - Aqualad/Tempest (Garth) - Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - Green Arrow (Connor Hawke) - Speedy/Arsenal/Red Arrow (Roy Harper) - Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) - Black Canary (Dinah Lance) - Zatanna (Zatanna Zatara) - Batgirl/Oracle (Barbara Gordon) - Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz/John Jones) - Mister Miracle (Scott Free) - Booster Gold (Michael Carter) - Blue Beetle (Jaime Reys) - Atom (Ray Palmer) - Atom (Ryan Choi) - Plastic Man (Patrick O'Brian) - Uncle Sam (Uncle Sam) - Elongated Man (Ralph Dibny) - Mr Terrific (Michael Holt) - Black Lightning (Jefferson Pierce) - Static (Virgil Hawkins) - Red Tornado (Ulthoon) Meanwhile, Marvel cranked out character after character of interest. The X-Men alone were each back-storied so brilliantly you could really crank out movies based off of each of them, and then you have the Avengers. There's just a lot more source material. Also, while googling Justice League to see if I'd forgotten anyone of interest, I happened upon the fact that a Justice League tv series was developed by CBS in 1997 and never saw the light of day. The Flash was in it, and it looks atrocious. You're welcome.
  25. Someone explain what the f*** this means? Their TV screens keep getting smaller as their parents’ screens grow ever larger. Is it a reference to a tablet? To their phones? That's just brutal.
