  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) It is the 21st century. Advertising is a part of the game. If it really is United that is behind this It's not. Krush made that up. UNITED CENTER actually visible on the television. They want to put something INTERACTIVE up there to put running advertisements to make more money. C'est la vie, I'm sure it'll scroll and flash MADHOUSE ON MADISON, but those signs were the s*** and I love them. Obviously, WELCOME TO THE MADHOUSE will still be up as far as I can tell.
  2. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) 99% of what McD does it to pander to the bandwagon fans. That was one such move. You're honestly the first die-hard that I've seen that is upset it's coming down. The only other true die-hard "with me when it was dark" fans I know - four of them, all love that sign. I think you're in the minority.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:34 AM) Anyone want to buy "The Last of Us" for like 25 bucks? I was going to trade it into GameStop, but if a Soxtalker would prefer - I'm done with it. Gone.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) That's what I'm saying. it's crap. Did all the fans die in 93? Did people stop cheering during National Anthem when the UC opened? Stadiums change. As long as it's still on Madison and it's where the hawks play they can throw whatever charming allusion the past they want. Any other opinion is just stubborn oldmanisms. This. It's still a madhouse on madison and the sign was the s***.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 11:58 AM) Well, yeah. But then also I can say "As long as they are competing on the UC ice, I don't want to hear s*** about how Chicago stadium was amazing" I thought it was nice. I reject the idea that traditions were only allowed to start in the 1940s and anything after that is just a fad bandwagon item. Sometimes Krush can get a little carried away with the "bandwagon" jargon. He and I have discussed this - and I'll try to keep it under control moving forward.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) Screw Alexander. That asshole cost me a f***ing chance at the championship in fantasy last year with his 0 point performance. *cue noone cares about your fantasy team squad* Karma is a b****.. Same deal here, actually. He was one of the reasons you got TO that championship game, though!
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) John McDonough pandering to the bandwagoners, and United Airlines didn't like it, and rightly so. I'm surprised it took this long for them to have them take it down. Hey, just because something is "new" that doesn't make it only for the bandwagoners.
  8. Anyone want to buy "The Last of Us" for like 25 bucks? I was going to trade it into GameStop, but if a Soxtalker would prefer - I'm done with it.

  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:18 AM) Welcome Arrelious Benn & Danario Alexander to the torn ACL club Danario is cursed.
  11. This really pisses me off. Just what we need, some scrolling bulls*** sign probably telling people to tweet. That f***ing sign was epic. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/08/06/mad...-united-center/
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) They are already tanking with the current roster This.
  13. Dayan Viciedo is very good. At sucking.
  14. Michael Beasley was arrested early Tuesday morning for marijuana possession, according to Arizona Central's 12 News. Also, the world is round
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) This generation has produced some great games that can all make a legit claim to that... Fallout 3 Red Dead Redemption Bioshock Infinite (haven't played, but from all that I've heard) The Last of Us Mass Effect 2 Of those four that I have played, all had amazing stories and good or great gameplay. I'd put Uncharted 2, but by nature of Naughty Dog trumping the entire Uncharted series with TLOU, it seems silly. This space reserved for GTA V.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) Whats sad is often times these grade C prospects end up getting a lot of time because the Sox have nothing else in the way of position talent. Exactly, which further adds to our collective frustration (save Balta, of course, he believes in everyone who may someday wear the Pale Hose and is a true saint and true fan).
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) An illustrative, detailed, well thought out post. Yet entirely accurate. He can't hit. He can't field. He strikes out too much. He's injured. He flat out sucks and he's getting worse.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:54 AM) He's been making this point for the entire season now. It's a valid one, but not in every case he uses it. Yeah - but I have yet to see him be correct regarding players he's preaching patience on for this season.
  19. And Dayan Viciedo sucks royal balls.
  20. My only point was simply that Balta's stance that anyone who thinks a White Sox prospect sucks while evaluating all data on hand is a silly position to take. It's not like we're cutting down grade-A prospect talent, here.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:35 AM) Hell, Garcia has exactly as long of a track record of solid performance in AAA as Phegley does, this season. Yeah he's younger but he also has a long list of people already saying that his approach probably won't work and he swings at too many pitches out of the zone. We've actually had good discussion on that, probably because you haven't seen his approach for a month in order to declare that "Avisail Garcia sucks!" yet. There's way too many "scouts" on Soxtalk - I don't need to get into players' approaches nor have I ever. Avisail Garcia is a legitimate top prospect who is hitting .381 in AAA at the age of 22 years old. He's hitting .387 since finding his way to Charlotte with 7 rbi in 5 games. He's getting a long leash from me. I'm almost insulted that you suggested I'd play couch scout like some of the fools on this site pretend to do.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) I like how when someone points out he's played double-digit games every year of his career, you pretend that's equal to calling him a "Stud" (your words) while when someone exaggerates how often he gets injured you agree with it. I called him a stud based on the can't cut status around here. There's no exaggeration going on with how often he gets injured. Anyone who pulls "games played" with Earl Bennett to argue that he's not injured very often clearly doesn't watch or pay any attention to the Bears.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) He's a slot receiver, his production is decent for a #3 considering he's never been in a system where there's 4600 yards of offense to go around. That's when he plays of course, as soon as he got the new deal he gets hurt every other week. There is not much to be gained in cutting him this year, though, at this point in the (off)season. The injuries are the entire reason this conversation is happening.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) It's also incredibly easy to sit there and say "Yes everyone on the White Sox is terrible" while ignoring the absolute fact that it takes a ton of time to develop people and guys struggling is the norm. Josh Phegley was tearing the cover off the ball for months in AAA, to the point where even you were saying he should have been up a month beforehand because he was clearly ready. We're already seeing the "gosh I hate his approach what's wrong with this guy" posts. it took about a month and was the easiest thing to predict ever. If Garcia comes up and hits .220 for a month I fully expect to see him declared a failure as well, and people will say that Hahn never should have traded for a guy with that terrible, aggressive approach. You complain about the supposed lack of talent in the org...but being completely unwilling to spend the time to develop that talent is a huge part of the reason it appears lacking to you. You declare that no one will contribute and then you declare that you're justified because no one comes up and becomes Mike Trout. That's literally the standard you're going with; a guy isn't doing what Mike Trout did, he must be terrible and useless and the system is terrible. Well, Josh Phegley is a 25 year old getting his first crack. It makes sense that when he goes for a .565 OPS over 75 at bats with nary a walk and an OBP lower than his average (.200 vs .203) that folks might question whether he can be the solution. He had a very nice start to the season at an advanced age in AAA, we'll see if that carries over. There's no reason not to run him out there because the other option is Tyler f***ing Flowers. That doesn't mean the guy will be any good - and his track record save a very small sample size suggests Phegley will blow. Garcia is actually a "top prospect". He'll be given a leash. I defy you to find someone down on him if/when he struggles out of the gate. Good God, it took us 4 years to finally give up on Gordon Beckham.
