Affleck can play Batman. He can also play serious. Hopefully he drops the Bahston accent, heh. As for DC's struggles - well, that's because beyond Batman and Superman, they are all straight-up lame. They've already punted one of the few actual superheroes remaning in the Green Lantern with that movie I hope no one ever watched. The only one that they seem to refuse to make that seems like a home run is "The Flash" which would be amazing if they got it right. Any list of top DC heroes has at least 15 that tie directly to the Batman world, including Robin, Knightwing, etc. DC took their short list of heroes and just kept bringing on newbs - I can think of two Flash's in Wally West and Barry Allen. I'm pretty sure there were like 10 Green Lanterns, not that I ever gave a s*** about that comic strip. There were some lame Aquamen, also that I did not care about (and any movie would immediately be met with Entourage jokes). The list just isn't that long of usable heroes. - Captain Marvel/ Shazam (Billy Batson) - Captain Marvel/Captain Marvel jr. (Freddy Freeman) - Mary Marvel (Mary Batson/Mary Bromfield) - Flash (Barry Allen) - Flash/Kid Flash (Wally West) - Flash (Jay Garrick) - Flash/Kid Flash/Impulse (Bart Allen) - Green Lantern/Spectre (Hal Jordan) - Green Lantern/Ion (Kyle Rayner) - Green Lantern (Guy Gardner) - Green Lantern (John Stewart) - Green Lantern (Allan Scott) - Superman (Clark Kent/ Kal-El) - Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Nightwing/Robin (Dick Grayson) - Nightwing/Robin/Red Robin (Jason Todd) - Robin (Tim Drake) - Robin (Damian Wayne) - Mon-El (Lar Gand/Bob Cobb/Jonathan Kent) - Nightwing (Chris Kent/Lor-Zod) - Supergirl (Kara Zor-El/Kara Kent/ Linda Lang) - Supergirl (Linda Danvers) - Power Girl (Kara Zor-L/Karen Starr) - Superboy (Conner Kent/Kon-El) - Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) - Wonder Girl/ Wonder Woman (Donna Troy) - Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark) - Aquaman (Orin/Arthur Curry) - Aquaman (Arthur Curry) - Aqualad/Tempest (Garth) - Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) - Green Arrow (Connor Hawke) - Speedy/Arsenal/Red Arrow (Roy Harper) - Huntress (Helena Bertinelli) - Black Canary (Dinah Lance) - Zatanna (Zatanna Zatara) - Batgirl/Oracle (Barbara Gordon) - Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz/John Jones) - Mister Miracle (Scott Free) - Booster Gold (Michael Carter) - Blue Beetle (Jaime Reys) - Atom (Ray Palmer) - Atom (Ryan Choi) - Plastic Man (Patrick O'Brian) - Uncle Sam (Uncle Sam) - Elongated Man (Ralph Dibny) - Mr Terrific (Michael Holt) - Black Lightning (Jefferson Pierce) - Static (Virgil Hawkins) - Red Tornado (Ulthoon) Meanwhile, Marvel cranked out character after character of interest. The X-Men alone were each back-storied so brilliantly you could really crank out movies based off of each of them, and then you have the Avengers. There's just a lot more source material. Also, while googling Justice League to see if I'd forgotten anyone of interest, I happened upon the fact that a Justice League tv series was developed by CBS in 1997 and never saw the light of day. The Flash was in it, and it looks atrocious. You're welcome.

Someone explain what the f*** this means? Their TV screens keep getting smaller as their parents’ screens grow ever larger. Is it a reference to a tablet? To their phones? That's just brutal.
-
That tablet one is stupid. The first iPad was released in 2010 and only after that did tablets really explode. Something tells me these kids learned the new meaning of tablet along with the rest of us. A lot of these are actually quite bad and make a lot of assumptions. This is one of their worst lists.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 27, 2013 -> 07:28 AM) I'm probably wrong, but guessing those flashforward scenes, Walt is running from or getting ready to battle Todd, his uncle, and the guy from Justified? Kevin Rankin - also was in "Friday Night Lights" with Todd (aka Landry).

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) He also talked about the reveal of the ricin cigarette, which is brand new even though most of us figured it, and the previews for next week. And I believe he's done the same thing in the movie thread. That's what this is about - discussion of the show.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) That is all stuff that happened years ago. Yeah - nothing can ever be discussed if every season of every tv show must not be talked about without spoiler tags.

Breaking Bad is hand's down the best television show I've ever watched. The only way they could ruin it is to have it all wind up as a dream, which ain't happenin!

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 12:47 AM) Draft is over. Here's my team. Drew Brees - QB Victor Cruz - WR Andre Johnson - WR LeSean McCoy - RB Trent Richardson - RB Brandon Myers - TE Eddie Lacy - RB/FLX Dan Bailey - K NE Defense Bench Eric Decker - WR/FLX Matthew Stafford - QB Miles Austin - WR Daryl Richardson - RB Brandon Pettigrew - TE Denarius Moore - WR Couple guys I'll probably use in future trades, but I like my team. I never understand the allure of 10-team (or less) leagues. -

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I remember we had a thread like this last season that a lot of people used. I need some keeper advice. This league has weird rules. You can keep up to 3 players, one is your "franchise" player and can play any position and be any age. The other two have to be going into their 2nd or 3rd seasons (Cam Newtons draft class). If you keep just one player you lose your 2nd round pick, if you keep 2 you lose your 2nd and 12th, and if you keep all 3 you lose your 2nd, 12th and 15th. This league is NOT PPR and its 12 teams. For my 2nd and 3rd year guys I have: Doug Martin, Julio Jones, Stevan Ridley and Colin Kaepernick For my franchise player options I have: Ray Rice, Dez Bryant I will obviously be keeping Martin. For my other 2nd/3rd year guy Im leaning towards Ridley but I think both of the other guys arent bad choices. For my franchise player I have no idea who to pick. Rice seems to be the easy choice but I could potentially have Martin and Ridley already at RB and since this league is a non ppr Bryant actually outscored Rice last season. Kaepernick seems like a stretch but as my 3rd keeper Id only lose a 15th round pick and would have a QB locked up and not have to worry about drafting one because based on these keeper rules Id imagine Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, RG3, Luck, Stafford, Ryan etc will already be gone. Martin, Ridley kept Bryant as franchise. Ray Rice is 28, so I keep the younger player in the franchise selection slot. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) Delmon Young could be a good comp. Young might have been even more highly though of as a hitter and had some of the same concerns. Really? You think the former 1st overall selection might have been more highly thought of as a hitter at one point than Avi Garcia?
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) I asked in the gamethread if anyone had any video of Avi beating out one of the grounders that he has beaten out already, and no one replied. But here, here is your amazing video evidence of how freakin fast this guy is. I could watch this 100 times. This is my favorite post of yours ever.

Avisail Garcia is a beast.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) ESPN Radio this morning was discussing the fact that LeBron is now shaving his head, why do I still even care a little about ESPN. I actually don't hate that as a topic.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Here's where I said that. There was one person who was down on Garcia, fathom spoke positively on him. All I said was that for Reed, Garcia wasn't enough, and I still stand by that. If the Sox were trading Reed they'd need to walk away with people saying it was highway robbery. relief pitcher

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) Hillary has a great chance to run and be elected President. But trying to predict who her opponent will be or how well they could do, is a fools errand. Im pretty sure in 2004/5 no one was saying "Obama is going to be a major player in the 08 election". 3-4 years in politics is a long long time.
