  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 01:31 PM) I can't tell if this looks awesome or cheesy: http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-pr...can-think-about I really liked District 9, so i'm guessing i'll really like this. It looks like best movie ever to me.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) It sucks that tonight's game is on an exclusive channel. I'd prefer NBC not to be given another contract for the Stanley. An awesome sport that could use some more fans should not be on a premier package. I see a couple others already nailed you to the wall, so I'll just go ahead and post this.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) If he's not David Wright, Adrian Beltre, Luis Valbuena, A.Rod, or Miguel Cabrera... he sucks. HOLY CRAP WHAT IS UP WITH THE EXAGGERA.... I see what you did there. Well played. Still. I'm not asking for a superstar. I'm also not going to praise a stinky turd who sucks.
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) True. Hey. Your PM inbox is full, idiot. How can I reply to you making fun of moron posters if your PM inbox is full.
  5. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) He's not great, I'll agree there. But he's not pitiful. There are plenty of other players on this team that are more pitiful. I'm a lot more concerned about Dunn, Konerko, Keppinger, and the catcher position. Gillaspie was a bench guy, then he was a starter and played pretty well, then went to a platoon with Keppinger where he started slipping. Who knows if he'll be good enough to be the Sox 3rd baseman of the future. Defensively he's very good. He still needs to work on his offense, and we need more time to decide whether or not he's pitiful. The entire roster is loaded with bad players. My entire point about Gillaspie is that he's garbage, yet people speak of him fondly.
  6. Picked up The Last of Us. Will knock out a few hours this evening.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) Somehow I'm not surprised. Most "Bears fans" are idiots. Most "sports fans" are idiots.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/fi...y-meltdown.html Spielberg/Lucas predict film industry headed for a meltdown, as well as $20-something comic book/CGI/3D movie ticket prices and $7 Lincoln/Hurt Locker/Zero Dark Thirty charges. Segmenting/partitioning the market. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/paramount-off...-055759217.html My favorite part about the first article is George Lucas's beard chin. Without the beard, he'd look like Jabba the Hut.
  9. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) While it surely isn't the smartest thing to do, I think people are reading too much into it. It's all about the sports teams. I don't believe they are making light of what happened in Boston. Boston brought the sports teams into it first, for charity understandably. I just think there is too much media-driven faux outrage. While I wouldn't buy one, I don't think the people who do are terrorist sympathizers. Eh, sports have always been used as an extremely visible "get away" from tragic events. See the first game in Yankee Stadium following 9/11. The National Anthem at the Bruins game following the Boston bombings was incredibly moving. Sports have a way of bringing people together. The Red Sox game following the bombings was must-see television - even if Big Papi did ruin it by dropping an f-bomb. Any city would bring sports into it, and to not let them have their "Boston Strong" slogan is just stupid. They earned it. They were strong.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) Except by making the t-shirt, they are. I get it - Boston can, but shouldn't, use it as a rallying cry (but watching their playoff games, I haven't really seen it used that way). Even so, Chicago can't try to combat it and say "it's only about sports." Everyone knows where Boston Strong came from. It's terrible taste, terrible decision, end of story. Any "Hawks fan" I see wearing that shirt is a f***ing idiot. And should go to Toronto to hang out with the other idiot. And the Tribune should be ashamed for "taking back" their tribute.
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 10:53 AM) That and it's not cool to say Gillaspie's actually doing okay. You gotta go against the grain and say he sucks...because that's cool. If by "cool" you mean "accurate", then you'd be correct. Unless, of course, you've redefined an 83 OPS+ as "doing ok". The guy's pitiful.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) Chicago Tribune takes back its post-bombing tribute to the Bruins They should have left this one alone. What the f*** were they thinking?
  13. It's amazing how these series can make one hate a team. I love the Blackhawks, but I can see if my team has players that are diving or "embellishing". I don't know that I've seen a Blackhawks player all season get an unsportsmanlike diving penalty. They play hard, they go hard.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 12:02 AM) There's an article out on ESPN Chicago how Rose is feeling 100 percent! Wooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Unreal. Only 10% more to go.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 10:22 PM) Go home Ginobli, you're drunk Oh God. I just saw this post this morning and spit my coffee.
  16. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) OK, quick roster check... who on the Rays could the Sox use *cough* everyone on the roster *cough* I will settle for Wil Myers since they seem disinterested in using him. kthx.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 12:37 PM) I'm f***ing sick to death of people here demanding we trade everyone for prospects and then simultaneously giving those prospects exactly 1.5 weeks to be successful before they are declared to be sucky, bad, awful, and needing of replacement. THIS IS WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU BRING YOUNG PLAYERS ALONG. LOL. It's not like this is Tyler Flower's first cup of coffee. I'm more than happy to be patient with prospects that have promise. These turds the White Sox are serving us are not prospects. Tyler Flowers is 27 years old, and even when he magically makes contact he is still pitiful behind home plate. I was one of the few who adamantly stuck by Reed last season. I sucked Beckham's dong for years. I put Jose Quintana in a Superman cape for f***'s sake. Please tell me one worthwhile "prospect" I've poo poo'd. You can't. You just happily lap up the s*** the White Sox put in front of you. You mindlessly waste your time on a guy like Flowers or Gillespie while the franchise goes down the s***ter and act like that makes you a good fan. I'd say that makes you part of the problem.
  18. Wade thinks it's 5 years ago and Manu blows.

  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) I forgot to put on deodorant this morning before leaving for work. Here is a graph of my comfort level as the day has gone on, with the Y-Axis being noon I'm sure that applies to the poor bastards that have to sit next to your stank ass, too.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) We got an "I'll be ready to go" out of Parker. Tonight's game should make for some great theater.
  22. Spoelstra leaning towards starting LeBron at center tonight.
  23. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 13, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Ton of people ripped on him for that, but it was one of the most emotional moments for me and I'll never forget it. I absolutely started crying there. I was there in 92 crying as a kid, etc. I adored that moment with JR. Not nearly as much as you much have enjoyed the atmosphere at the UC last night. I hate/love you.
