QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Colin Kaepernick was awesome Saturday night, but you need to be good for a few years before you can put his name next to the top guys. It will be interesting to see how Wilson, Kaepernick and RG3 play next year once the league adjusts to them. IF he plays.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) Anyone else here drink almond milk? I just got on to it and like how it fits my diet. I go with an unsweetened vanilla, which is 40 cals/8 oz. That's half the caloric content of skim milk, though I sacrifice the protein content. Allows me to have cereal, protein shakes, etc without adding as many cals. It is about twice the price of milk, though -- unless you drink organic milk, in which case good God is that s*** expensive. You must be drinking Almond Breeze at 40 cals. The unsweetened vanilla Silk PureAlmond Milk tastes better and comes in at 30 cals/8 oz. I don't drink regular milk anyway - usually almond, sometimes soy.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Yeah, to each his own. I would think Mary would be the worst by far, followed closely by Matthew. But yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Bates could have manned up and he wouldn't be where he's at right now. Matthew is a pimp.

Any Soxtalkers live in Las Vegas?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Both of the times I went through Vegas I caught a cover band playing at a place on the strip, outdoors, right next to Jimmy Buffett's margaritaville. After Google-mapping it, the place was called "Carnival Court". This is such a Grandpa post.

Frank and Konerko
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) I agree. A 34-year old Konerko is probably better than a 44-year old Frank Thomas who has been out of baseball for 4 years. Konerko is 36 and will be 37 on opening day. Oh God, he's going to suck so much ass this year.

Frank and Konerko
QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Maybe for the regular season, but definitely not for the playoffs. As I recall, Frank was a big choker in the postseason. He never did much. In fact, I remember him not even getting a friggin' hit in all 3 games of the 2000 ALDS against the Mariners. Not even one bloop single - NADA. Needless to say, that helped the Mariners with A-Rod, Griffey Jr., and Edgar Martinez sweep the series. I'll take Konerko for the playoffs, thank you. That grand slam he hit in game 2 of the World Series was arguably the single greatest moment in the entire history of this franchise. Maybe even better than winning game 4 to end the series and jump around on the field as champions. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/thomafr04.shtml Frank Thomas had a career .870 OPS in the playoffs, albeit he didn't have many appearances. There's not enough statistics to prove you wrong, but I'll just go ahead and say your remembering one disappointing series does not define a player. Konerko had a career .854 postseason OPS. Of course, one played in a World Series, which is why you "misremember".

Frank and Konerko
Frank Thomas is always the answer. He was a f***ing monster and in his prime I'd take him over a lot better hitters than Paul Konerko.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 11:40 AM) Question related to something I've been talking about in a class: are you bothered or think about the show any differently knowing that it has been aired overseas and you could likely access this entire season right now instead of waiting for it to roll out weekly? If this is an open question to anyone - I personally am not. I could download if I wanted, but I'm not so obsessed with Downton that I couldn't wait until it aired. Conversely, with the new Arrested Development season, I'm disappointed that all the episodes will be immediately available. I'd much rather have to wait a week in between each, and get to reflect and have more episodes to look forward to - I'm already disappointed with my future self for burning through 14 brand new episodes of AD in two days. (Of course, I'll then re-watch them 50 times). I just wish I could be forced to delay the gratification on all those episodes.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 11:35 AM) Downton was kinda meh last night. Edith and Ms. Hughes had the only good storylines, the rest were pretty boring and/or retreads. The show needs more Bates. f*** Bates, I hope he dies in prison.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) But while I have a little free time to exercise at night, the reality is I don't have the energy. Serious question, did you know that working out GIVES you energy? It's true. On days I skip the gym and sleep til 7, I'm more tired than on days I get up at 5:45 and go to the gym. You just have to get over that hurdle. But yeah, no kid yet. Talk to me this time next year - but we bought a treadmill specifically for the fact that we're getting ready to make a baby.
