QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) As long as Texas is still looking for a starter, I think the best the Sox can do is place in the King Felix sweepstakes. Unless the M's don't want to receive too much fan backlash trading him in division and seeing him for so many series per year. I dunno.

My co-worker is old friends with KWs oldest son. Apparently, King Felix is in play.

I love it. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) You mean not doing the haiku format? Or expressing my outrage for that punk who killed 12 people in Colorado? Or not mentioning Oz as much?

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Chicago White Sox @whitesox Danks said his strength is not great, he’s hoping for better but didn't take a major step back. Chicago White Sox @whitesox Danks said he was hoping for a little better bounce back but has been assured he can keep pushing & building up strength without damage. It sounds like he's got the Mark Prior "pussification" disease.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) I can't get enough of this...LOVE me some Ed-wood Nawtin. What flic is this from?? That s***ty Incredible Hulk movie.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) Doesn't Shields have a 4.5 ERA. What am I missing here? The point of all this trade speculation is to acquire a "top of the rotation guy" Not another #4 or #5. 134:44 k:bb and 2013 - $9 million team option 2014 - $12 million team option

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 04:23 PM) There's no f***ing way we should trade Reed for Shields.
-
The very fact that the Angels offered a bench player (Peter Bourjos) straight up for Shields not only hints at the perceived market value, it also indicates he could probably be had for one of our young pen arms (hope for Jones, settle for Reed), a decent spect like Mitchell, and then a low-level spect. That's just my opinion.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Sorry my fault I thought the fact we would likely have to part with tank for shields was delusional. I may be delusional about that, but I wouldn't personally trade Tank for anyone other than Felix. That's my own opinion delusional or not, I really like tank and think he has a chance to be dominate for a long time. We disagree on the cost of Shields. That was covered multiple posts ago.
-
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) And you are vastly underrating Tank and overrating Shields. Shields may ultimately end up the better player but Tank has him by the balls in terms of raw talent. And he's a lot cheaper too. Why do posters continue to tie posts together and assume? Dude said the only player he'd move "Tank" for was "The King". Nowhere in there did I say "holy s*** trade Tank for James Shields!"
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) LOL okay. Saying the only player you'd trade "Tank" for is "The King" is the very definition of a delusional statement.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) Kenny read my thread on it. haha
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) I think a deal with Tampa likely means the end of Tank on the southside. And I wouldn't give tank up for anyone than the King himself. That is a delusional statement.
-
Hey, it was my idea.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Uh. No he wont for the fact he is under control for the next 2 years. If Sheilds is traded the Rays will get a far better pacakage than the Brewers. A team is much more likely to include top prospects for a guy they have for multiple years than a 2 month rental. Pretty logical. Thank you for your opinion. I completely disagree.
-
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) So everyone is up in arms with giving up a package for ZG, lol what do you think the Cubs or Rays will want for guys under contract for longer than this year. It will be a hell of a lot more than for Grienke. And you guys are worried about what we give up to MIL, I'm sure you will all be cool watching the guys we give the Cubs help them out "for years to come." and let's not forget Garza is out, hurt till after the deadline. But were okay giving up good players for someone who is hurt. Uh, Shields would certainly be cheaper than Greinke - and under control for 9 mill next year and 12 mill the year after. I hope Shields is the true target.
-
This Greinke s*** is all a KW smokescreen. He's going to land a player like Garza or Shields who will be under team control for 2-3 years - not some 10 start rental he has to bid for that has already stated he hates pitching in the Cell and has a history of being a nutcase.
-
Among the options offered, anyone voting anything but the Cardinals is completely nuts.

I predicted long ago that we'd wind up with Vargas.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) Even mentioning trading Viciedo for a rental shows that you arent really throwing out realistic options. No GM in their right mind would do that. Have you seen the kids numbers lately? Holy s***! 98 OPS+! HOW DOES HE MANAGE THAT?!?!?!?!
