  1. I had no idea they released a new album... AND LAWLZ AT TEH ALMOST NSFW COVER.
  2. Awesome night from pretty much everyone. That Septimo kid has Major League stuff!
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) You lost me at Austin Rivers being good He'll be good.
  4. Apparently, Jared Sullinger has "bulging dicks".
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 11:37 PM) Yeah, I guess technically I did, but I didn't really have time to safely stop when it turned yellow. Oof, that argument didn't work for me. I got one for entering the intersection just past the yellow light, and you could see my brake lights as I tried to stop in the rain but was sliding, so I went through it. I was certain I'd win. My $100 I spent on the ticket says otherwise.
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) For me, there was quite a bit of connection. The life cycles of the proto-xeomorphs—their need to infect host bodies to get to the next stage of the life cycle—was totally and Alien fingerprint regardless of the specifics of what the different life forms looked like. The thematic continuity of the 'artificial humans' — Ash from the first Alien film, Bishop from Aliens, and David from Prometheus. Their motives and directives are never entirely known to the audience. Are they working for the Corporation, do they have pre-directives that really explain what the missions are about, and do they care at all about the human crew are themes common to all three films. Oh yeah, and they all get their heads ripped off and 'live' to tell the tale. Little things like the acid blood of the penis worms being essentially the same as the Alien xenomorphs. HR Giger's visuals setting the tone for all the films is certainly a unifying thread. And the extreme manifestation of that in Prometheus was having the last surviving engineer go all Space Jockey for us all to see and finally understand what that entity first seen in the original Alien really was. I agree with this post. The entire time I felt I was watching something in the Alien universe.
  7. The Penguins are insane. 12 years, $104.4 million for Sidney Crosby and his mush brain. That, my good friends, is a gamble. They should have traded Sid for the world, and held onto Staal. I guess if his brain got perma-damaged, then he'd retire and the cash would be off the books, though.
  8. I loved Ron Artest a lot when he was here. He's had a tumultuous journey since being traded, and under no circumstances would he be welcomed back to Chicago.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) If demanding a new contract in the middle of September and willingly negotiating with another team during September isn't quitting on the Sox, what is? Did he literally have to not show up to the park? I suppose that would've been Kenny's fault, or the gas prices were too high at the time. And please, NEVER use Ozzie in the same paragraph as Earl Weaver and Tommy Lasorda, unless you're listing reasons about how different they are as managers, as in, "Ozzie is dogs*** compared to Lasorda and Weaver." Please get over yourself. I'm 24 posts in and you annoy me already. There's a reason Ozzie was a .525 manager with the Sox and his current team sucks, but I suppose that's Miami management's fault. Getting Reyes, Buehrle, and Bell was horrible. RIIIIGHT. No, it didn't. He just doesn't like you. Well, I like this guy already.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Nope. That's him. I remember he got on me one time. lol. But damn. He snapped. I received one of those, too, though obviously not like the one greg just received. More of a "stop being a dick" post.
  11. There are "increasing signs" that Deron Williams will re-sign with the Nets, sources tell ESPN's Chris Broussard. Broussard reports that D-Will has been working out "almost daily" at the Nets' facility, while he and coach Avery Johnson have "discussed strategies" for next season. CBS Sports also reported that the Mavericks are fearing Williams is leaning toward re-signing with the Nets. The most interesting part of Broussard's report is that D-Will won't be making any visits to interested teams once free agency begins.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 01:13 AM) Got a camera enforced citation for running a red light on North Ave. $100. :fart noise: Some BS. Did you run it? Do they have the video online?
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 02:13 AM) 22 sucks. 22-24 will suck, as you will be in the real world making no real coin. 25 and beyond is good times.
  14. Good news. Forte + Bush is an awesome tandem.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) who got knocked out, me or chisox? it seems to me he snapped and will prolly be headed to the penalty box. Ha! Classic.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) You really think there would be big interest? Traditionally the Sox have been on shaky ground, almost moving that one year. As nice as the Cell is ... would any of you be against starting over? New owner? New stadium in the most picturesque part of the city where there could be bars, restaurants, etc., not a slum to the east and southeast and nice, but blah Bridgeport to the west? How's Kansas?
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Guys, if you're seriously still concerned about batting average, you need to learn about linear weights. Tom Tango devised a system of measuring overall offensive contribution by including all hitting events based on their relative expected run values. You don't have to subjectively decide how much strikeouts matter when compared to homeruns because it has been done mathematically: http://www.tangotiger.net/wiki/index.php?t...=Linear_Weights The most commonly used statistic that comes from this is wOBA, and looking at a hitter's wOBA is a much better way than batting avg, on base percentage, total bases, homeruns, etc. to evaluate his performace in a vacuum. wOBA is scaled in such a way to match OBP -- so if someone's wOBA number would be a good OBP number, then it's also a good wOBA. Adam Dunn's wOBA is .375, and that is fine and dandy. .329 in June.
