White Sox have flipped from sellers to buyers
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jake @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) I hope VMart goes to C with Cabrera at 3B and Prince at 1B. That would make it undeniably the worst defensive IF ever. I'd be shocked if he went to C coming off that injury. I think you're more likely to see him DH, since that's open. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2012 -> 04:12 PM) If the Bears built a 95,000 seat stadium, they'd get a Super Bowl and the teams would be told to like it. They didn't. I'm still so pissed that we wound up with the garbage we have.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Meet baseball's least appreciated star. (Currently featured on CNN.com's home page, right below an article about a rant by a MLB sportscaster from yesterday).

It's a homeless guy. He was probably passed out on rum or high on something.

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 31, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) I don't care if one players made a living out of it. He was a pretty good hitter so he had other things going for him. Unnecessarily, injuring someone is not part of the game. It's idiotic and the reason that no one likes AJ. Sliding hard to knock someone over to prevent a double play is part of the game. Doing spikes up is not. Greg is as much a homer as Hawk is - see his overreaction to Konerko getting beaned. No White Sox can do wrong, no opponent can do right.
-
The game is tomorrow, and it's probably going to rain.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) Buy MLB.com and listen to most of those plastic hacks. I have a feeling MLB.com isn't for sale, and if it is, I sure can't afford it.
-
Ken Harrelson - "Dayan Viciedo is a stronger version of Paul Konerko." That comparison makes zero sense. None.
-
AND NOW HAWK ADMITS HE'S ADDICTED TO PAINKILLERS!
-
I don't get why the Padres don't just move the fences in already. No free agent will want to sign there, and no one will want to watch the games.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 30, 2012 -> 11:55 PM) Another thing on networking...a lot of it is networking with the people you already work with. They leave, you leave, suddenly you know people in different companies/towns/states. Try to make strong connections where you're at. Yeah - some people show up and don't make real connections with their co-workers. That's a bad idea.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 31, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) If Boston makes another Finals guys like Simmons would never shut up about it. And if Miami makes it but failed, that continues to diminish Lebron's legacy as a "King" of basketball. I guess that's my thinking. Either way, I don't see anyone beating SA four times. Given the way the East has laid down for Miami this year, I can only imagine that Ginobili, Leonard, and Duncan (or maybe Parker) will all somehow wind up injured before that series starts.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) This same guy would have been b****ing about the umpires if his pitcher had got thrown out of the game without a warning. Same goes for Maddon. No one is going to say their own player deserved to be thrown out. I hope someone gets plunked when they come to the Cell. Chances are, said player will be wearing the Pale Hose.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) With that swing, he will be superstreaky. HE'S A SUPAH FREAK.

That being said - I have obviously been enjoying Hawk lately. We're in the middle of an 8-game winning streak and he and Wimpy were fantastic together. They were amazing. Hopefully things stay positive. I wish he were as fun with Stoney as he is with Wimpy.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) Whatever. If you need someone telling you what is going on when you are watching a baseball game, you aren't as baseball-wise as you think you are. Hawk is basically there to entertain and inform, and teach. Whether you want to admit it or not, you have learned a lot about baseball listening to Hawk over the years. Hawk teaches kids these days about dinosaur baseball players with made-up and overly exaggerated information. Kids these days know that Carlos Delgado and Dayan Viciedo have the fastest bat speed in the history of the game. Hawk doesn't really educate about much these days. He speaks with confidence - great. I'd reckon 70% of what he says is pretty inaccurate.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:47 AM) Remember when you could get the SAP feed and listen to some of the studio guys do defacto play by play? (can you still do that?) Nah, they stopped that.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) You can always mute it and make your own comments. If you're watching the game, why do you need someone to tell you if its a strike? This STRETCH of a post is brought to you by Hawk Harrelson.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) I give Marty credit for going out on a limb and making a statement which he definitely knew he could be hung for and constantly reminded of for years to come. He was dead wrong in my opinion but I still give him the brass balls award for taking such an unpopular stand in the forum. Eh, it doesn't take balls when that's all you do.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) It is only a comedy sports radio show because Boers seems incapable of it being anything other than that. There is serious discussion, there is fun discussion. It's a good mix - comparing Boers to Hawk is kind of pointless given the vast difference in their mediums.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:29 AM) That's definitely true about Bernstein. I think Terry's age has caught up with him (kinda like Hawk). Occasionally there will be a discussion where Terry will say something intelligent that shows you why has been kept around for so long. Then all of a sudden he will yell "By Cracky!" and then so much for that momoent. He only says "by cracky" where there's a reference to hair. Hence everytime the name "Furbush" comes up, he says "by cracky!". I'm pretty certain it's just a button he hits at this point. Boers could definitely go, last week Rosenbloom (whom I love on the weekends) and Law Holmes both were on with Bernstein and it was quite enjoyable. Either way, I love the show.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) Both are very intelligent, but are very arrogant and act like 14 year olds from time to time. If ever one of "their guys" gives them information that turns out to be correct, they can't pat themselves on the back enough. When the info is wrong, which it is most of the time, its never brought up again. Most callers don't have valid points, but if you think your entire audience is stupid and have to put down everything they say if they aren't kissing your behind, why take calls? I really have no respect for those guys. What intrigues me is how much you hate Hawk but like grown men in the 40's and 50's who sometimes can't go 5 minutes without some sort of sexual innuendo you would hear from a sophomore in HS. If Hawk is embarrassing the White Sox, aren't these guys embarrassing the Score? One is a comedy sports radio show, one is a play by play announcer for a 111 year old Major League Baseball franchise.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 31, 2012 -> 09:51 AM) He's so fat in that game. I wish SCEA would change that... I agree - or I wish they'd just open things up so I can trim the waste line a bit. With dominance will come recognition, I guess.

Brent Morel is a terrible, terrible baseball player. The corpse of Orlando Hudson (which is what we have) has been world's better, and he's been pretty bad.
